Neon stuff. Bleee. Can I return this?

I ordered as a big treat an Orla Kiely bag in a sale. It had loads off and looked beautiful on the picture.

It's turned up and it is NEON PINK.

It will be quite expensive to return and I'm really pissed off.

Has anyone else had this happen - it's truly nothing like the lovely elegant salmon pink on the website (even on Orla Kiely's own website) which makes me furious as it is just hideous IRL.

Colour as advertised and colour as in actual fact (not my nails!)

Should I push for a free return label? I think it's totally inaccurate and has probably been altered (at source) to look nicer so people would buy it.

Erm, it's a totally different bag - different shape, material and print as well as a different color! Are you sure they sent you the right one? Would just give them a call.

SophiePendragon · 21/07/2015 13:30

Well I couldn't find an accurate picture of this one, that's why! The one in the first picture, the sort of nice salmon pink, is the one. The other picture is of another Orla bag, but the colour is accurate.

It's horrible. Sad

I'm quite disappointed.

I have emailed the shop. It's in fecking Ireland though. No offence to Ireland, but it's like £20 to send it back.

What colour did it say it was, if it said salmon then yes inaccurate description but if not it's not their fault you don't like the colour.

rockybalboa · 21/07/2015 13:38

Oh I love it! I love neon stuff not helpful

SophiePendragon · 21/07/2015 13:38

It just says pink. But it's got a huge picture of it, and it's salmon pink, and nice, and the one that's arrived is hideous. I didn't even open the polythene. One look was enough. I checked again after a few minutes to make sure it was actually a totally different colour and it was.

I can't believe they could sell something neon without telling people - on a few websites, it has an actual note on the description - please be aware that the pink/green/whatever is neon.

And that's with a picture of something neon.

This is really a bit underhand IMO.

Rocky - you want it, it's yours! I will cover postage! unless you live in Ireland!

OP posts:
SophiePendragon · 21/07/2015 13:42

The thing is it's a Sixties bag. It is called Sixties. They didn't HAVE neon in the sixties.

I would also be pissed off!! In fact, i bought an Orla Kiely bag and it looked subtle on the website. When it came the print had a kind of neon orange through it. I did like it and kept it but eventually sold it on ebay!

Greengardenpixie · 22/07/2015 08:11

I think i have found your bag?

I would also be annoyed. Looks a lovely pink in the picture. I quite like the bright pink though. If you hate it, i would email them and say that it doesnt look anything like the picture and ask for a returns label.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 22/07/2015 08:31

Have you tried contacting the vendor in Ireland to see if they do free returns (or may even reimburse you the cost or part of it)?

If it's the first bag with the handles folded over, I've seen that bag on sale in fawn/beige for 250 euros (normally priced 500 euro). I can't understand why if you would spend that amount on a bag that you'd be worried about the costs of returning it??

Orangeanddemons · 22/07/2015 08:33

Trade descriptions act. Not as depicted. Phone them, and they should give you a free return.

RepeatAdNauseum · 22/07/2015 08:40

I think it's gorgeous, although that doesn't help you much!

I can understand the disappointment if you were expecting a lovely sophisticated pink.

burnishedsilver · 22/07/2015 08:47

I'm in Ireland. It doesn't cost me that much to return things to the UK. Are you guessing the price or is it actually £20?

To my eye it looks pretty neon in the picture, but more of a coral than a pink.

SophiePendragon · 22/07/2015 09:14

Thanks, yes it is that much, I've weighed it and measured it. It's about £18 to be more accurate.

I spoke to the chap in the shop and he's going to see how much it is for their courier to collect it. I don't mind paying to return it, but hope we can find a cheaper way.

I'll take a look at some other courier sites and see what they come up with.

Btw if people could avoid trying to locate or identify the actual website that would be appreciated - not sure why that is important? I don't want to name them, they are a nice shop and I have nothing against them.

Cheers.

Greengardenpixie · 22/07/2015 09:18

Sophie, think people were just trying to find an actual picture of the bag, myself included to see if it had been wrongly depicted, which i think you have a point :)

SophiePendragon · 22/07/2015 09:20

Ok, sorry - no offence. I just don't want it to get out of hand - I was only having a moan.

Hopefully we'll sort it out. I hoped this had fallen off A/C last night but it's reappeared.

Thanks for your help Smile

SophiePendragon · 22/07/2015 09:20

I mean it's my fault for posting. I shouldn't have.

OP posts:
Greengardenpixie · 22/07/2015 09:24

No offence taken :)
Hope you get things sorted out.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 22/07/2015 10:01

As one of the two people who posted a link to a site I'd like to clarify that I wasn't guessing or trying to locate the vendor. I just found the bag on the site of a well know stockist of Orla Kiely bags in Ireland. I have no idea whether you bought from them or elsewhere. Sure how would I???

I posted the link to a fawn version of the bag and the price just happened to be there. I also find it a bit strange when someone spends that amount of money on a bag and then worries about the small price (in comparison) of returning said item. If it's not as described, then it's not as described and you should be dealing with the vendor to arrange a return (which it seems that you are doing).

Hopefully this will get sorted out and you'll end up with a handbag that you're happy with.

RepeatAdNauseum · 22/07/2015 10:04

Whatcha OP does say that she bought the bag in the sale, so they probably didn't spend as much as you think on it.

Sophie I hope you get it resolved. It's such a let down when you don't like something you've been excitedly waiting for!

forago · 22/07/2015 10:08

it looks to me like she paid £62 for it, which seems a good price to me. sending it back for £18 would be almost a third of the price which does seem ridiculous.

Chchchchanging · 22/07/2015 22:42

There is a orla kiely page on fb, they are obsessed with it, try selling on there?
