I have just changed to the biore sunscreen in the last week. I'll go back to Neutrogena and see how it goes.

ScrambledSmegs · 27/07/2015 23:37

I'm trying desperately to find an alternative to my current face sunscreens. It seems I may have developed a chemical sunscreen allergy - my face is rejecting LRP Anthelios, Heliocare, Bioré, Ultrasun... the list goes on. I go red and itchy as soon as it goes on, and cystic spots too - I'm having to rely on my BB creams at the moment, which as you know is not ideal.

I am currently trying to find a UK distributor for Avene Ultra Light Mineral Sunscreen. No joy so far.

NewsreaderChic · 27/07/2015 23:54

I have think I've bought a fake sheet mask. I used a Tosowoong green tea one tonight as a post decorating treat and it was huge, looked odd and unlike other Tosowoong ones I've used there wasn't any essence left in the pouch. I bought on eBay from a UK seller. I can't be sure, but I don't think I'd buy again.

Scrambled have you tried googling French pharmacy brands online, I think there are a couple of companies that ship from France, I got all obsessed about Avene micellar water last year and planned to get loads sent over until, I found it Boots!

goodasitgets · 28/07/2015 00:26

Ok so this is my routine at the moment... Questions! Would you use the blackhead power and pixi glow? And in what order? And I'm tempted by the Missha essence, when would I use that? I'm a mix of Korean and CH Grin with combination, acne prone skin

Am
Lush 9-5 cleanser
Orange flower toner
Biore factor 50
Nip/fab moisturiser

PM
Cleanse (oil or balm or both)
Pixi glow
Ren serum
Ren moisturiser
Innisfree sleeping pack

lucysmam · 28/07/2015 08:00

What's pixi glow goodas?

lucysmam · 28/07/2015 08:02

The missha fte would go before the ren serum but after any actives (so the blackhead/whitehead/vit c).

You might want a second cleanser (foaming or cream or something along those lines) when using the oil cleanser to make sure the last of it is removed Smile

lucysmam · 28/07/2015 08:24

I looked up the pixi glow waiting for my straighteners to heat up.

It's an aha so you'd use that after the blackhead power liquid & a 20 min wait if you were using both on the same night.

A lot of people seem to use them on alternative nights though so you'd

Oil cleanse - second cleanse - ph adjusting toner or wait 15 for ph to return to normal - blackhead/pixi glow & 20 min wait - fte - rest of routine Smile

NewsreaderChic · 28/07/2015 08:47

Goodasitgets I prefer the Innisfree soy essence instead of the Missha FTE it does the same job but isn't sticky and has no smell. You can get packs of FTE samples on eBay to try first.

I think your Biore spf needs to go on after your moisturiser in the morning, you may not need to use a toner in the morning unless it's an acid.

I started off doing a KB/CH combo, but am largely KB now I much prefer the lighter layers of moisturiser instead of thick western creams, but you'll get hooked in gradually like the rest of us.

lucysmam · 28/07/2015 09:11

I didn't spot the suncream - yes, I've been using mine after moisturiser as the last layer before my nake-up goes on.

lucysmam · 28/07/2015 09:13

You're right about being hooked News, AB is much more interesting and enjoyable to me now than Western stuff & my skin seems to agree.

I might delve into some bodycare stuff at some point too but am trying very hard not to browse toooo much atm and wait for my parcels to catch up with me!

goodasitgets · 28/07/2015 09:26

Ooh thank you all! Yes I muddled up the order - I have been doing Biore last
My second cleanse after oil is a balm/wax/cream usually

lucysmam · 28/07/2015 09:32

nake-up = make up Hmm

ScrambledSmegs · 28/07/2015 09:40

Thanks Newsreader, but it seems to be a bit of an odd product. I was in France last week and they definitely didn't have it in any pharmacy I tried, only a small mineral face sun cream. It seems to be a U.S. only product, strange for a French brand Confused

FrugalFashionista · 28/07/2015 09:44

I have just flipped the sponge in my BB cushion. You dig out the spongy part, turn it around and this way you can use it up. When I'm done I'll cleanse all parts of it and refill it with a custom mix - thanks for the great ideas. The cushion has been a fabulous timesaver, I had time to do a full face for the first time in more than a week (loving my new makeup cupboard) but throughout the move my skin has looked great!

Scrambled so sorry about your sunscreen sensitivity. I've used hardcore physicals (Badger sunscreen, California Baby) in the past, those are neither elegant or grease free but might work if you are not able to tolerate chemical sunscreens. You might run all your sensitizing sunscreens through CosDna to better understand what exactly you are allergic to.

I had the same issue with Hawaiian Tropic that many of you are having with Biore - I burned a couple of times while using it.

GrinAndTonic · 28/07/2015 12:01

The crappy Australian dollar is killing me! My AB habit us about to get much more expensive!

I made a DIY lotion/toner something from my daiso purchases. I added hyralonic (I can never spell that word) serum to a sake lotion to soak sheet masks in. I did one last night and it hasn't done a lot but nothing bad has happened.

lucysmam · 28/07/2015 12:02

Innisfree no sebum powder definitely on my re-buy list. I'm just in from town - Primark was roasting and it's muggy out even though it's rainy so I felt all shiny and blah, but...I don't look it! Grin

VeganCow · 28/07/2015 21:02

lucysmam what about this Etude House bb cream in the second shade no 13 natural beige here or you could use your Holika Holika watery and use it to fill an empty cushion, which you can also buy on ebay here

PoppyAmex · 28/07/2015 21:23

Just tried using my Holika Petit Jelly on my Missha empty cushion and it blew my mind! Flawless results!

lucysmam · 28/07/2015 21:31

Thanks very much Vegan, I might go for the ready-made version first and then venture into filling my own.

VeganCow · 28/07/2015 22:59

poppy how did it differ from normal application?

ScrambledSmegs · 29/07/2015 09:44

Well a few days of alternating BHA and AHA at night plus a pared-down AB routine is working wonders. No more cystic acne, a few whiteheads but they're going quickly, and even the PIH is less noticeable.

I'm having to use an old mineral sunscreen that I had from last year. I hope it's still ok - smells fine but I worry about the protection it affords. It was only SPF25 in the first place.

FrugalFashionista · 29/07/2015 11:31

Scrambled physical sunscreens don't lose their effectiveness quickly - you basically put a layer of zinc and titanium on your face and those stay inert for decades years.

My RRS sale order may have arrived! I might have time to pop to the 24h post office later today. Has anyone else received any sale goodies yet?

About 40 boxes left... We are getting tired of the mess, and the final boxes are usually the trickiest ones.

OP posts:
ScrambledSmegs · 29/07/2015 11:49

Really? That's good to know. I'm so used to chemical sunscreens degrading over time that I assumed the same applied to physical ones.

Hope it's your RRS sale haul! What did you order? I wonder if they broke the habit and put some samples in Grin
