I am 5'2" and a size 10/12. I will be visiting the UK in a couple of weeks time and really want to buy some pretty and some basic decent quality t-shirts that won't go in holes after 2 washes. I am looking for long and short sleeved ones in a variety of colours and styles please add places you would recommend for design and quality.

Uniqlo if coming to London
H & m get good recommendations on here.

Lagoonablue · 07/07/2015 06:25

Gap.

CatinSocks · 07/07/2015 06:30

Will try Uniqlo. I have had issues with both H&M and Gap t shirt getting small holes in them after just a few wears.

Fat face

antimatter · 07/07/2015 06:41

were you buying H&M and Gap t-shirts from UK shops before?
or some other countries?

Hadron21 · 07/07/2015 06:47

Reiss but only the sale ones as they are ££. They have 'shape' and look smart.

twojumpingbeans · 07/07/2015 06:53

Was going to say Uniqlo too, good quality and price, I have just got a new load from the sale on line as there isn't one in my town. Went to the store on Oxford street a few weeks ago and found there to be much more on line.

gingeroots · 07/07/2015 09:40

I find uniqulo T shirts too long for me ( 5" ) and the material though lovely and fine ( thin ) is very unforgiving ( clingy ) .
Lovely if you're slim I would think .

CatinSocks · 07/07/2015 11:33

Anti matter no not the UK do you think there is a quality difference between countries.
I will look at reiss sales and fatface too.
Gingerroots I was looking at uniqlo online but now I think I will wait until I can try them on. I am not really a big fan of super clingy t shirts. I like them to skim my figure rather than cling to it.

Twojumpingbeans how do you find Uniqlo sizing?

antimatter · 07/07/2015 16:19

H&M aren't bad quality by UK standards.
I used to buy a lot in Gap but can't comment what it's quality is like nowadays but it used to be exemplary.

gingeroots · 07/07/2015 19:06

I get tiny holes in my T shirts but these are always at the front over my stomach .
I'd assumed they were caused by my carelessness with cleaning products - splashing /spraying etc .

antimatter · 07/07/2015 19:27

What speed of spin are you using on your washing machine?

BikeRunSki · 07/07/2015 21:32

Belt buckle Ginger!

FrugalFashionista · 07/07/2015 21:35

The most outlandish theory about those holes I've heard is granite countertops.

MilkThistle187 · 07/07/2015 21:44

I tried on lots of white t shirts last week, bought Hobbs ones in the end, we'll cut and very nice fabric.

MilkThistle187 · 07/07/2015 21:54

My Gap ones from last year are like rags, I wouldn't recommend them.

TuttiFrutti · 07/07/2015 22:34

Muji. Excellent quality and reasonable prices.

BikeRunSki · 07/07/2015 23:40

And very short Tutti.

gingeroots · 08/07/2015 10:16

No belt buckle .
Not sure of spin speed .
Convinced it's bleach spray or something .

Oh ,short T shirts from Muji .I need short .will be looking .

CatinSocks · 08/07/2015 10:26

Yes the holes are always at the front on the belly button area. Some of the t-shirts I have had holes in I have never worn for ckeaning so I am sure its not cleaning products.
If it were the spin cycle I would expect random holes not in one specific place its very annoying.
I don't wear belts but thought it could be to do with buttons on trousers and jeans, maybe? I do have granite counter tops too.

I will check out muji as I am short anyway so length should not be a problem. I bought 4 t-shirts at gap last year 2 were in holes within a month and the ithers after 3-4 months. Argghh never renember t-shirts going in holes so regularly a few years ago.

I like White Stuff t-shirts

MarvellousCake · 08/07/2015 10:38

Uniqlo are great. What Gingeroots says might be true of some of their t-shirts, but they make lots in different fabrics. I've just bought both short and long sleeve modal/linen t-shirts in their sale. An absolutely bargain, and lovely and cool to wear - sizing/style is quite boxy. I also have a grits teeth breton top from Uniqlo, which is completely different - very heavy jersey and quite structured. None of these tops are clingy, and I'm quite short.

gingeroots · 08/07/2015 13:39

Marvellous - you're right .
This looks great www.uniqlo.com/uk/store/goods/136273

somehow I've missed these ! I'm not good at shopping ...
