So there. :)

OP posts:
motherinferior · 20/07/2015 14:26

Oh, in my case it was more 'how to pose a critical question' than anything else. DP does all our laundry. Grin (This goes back to the Great Damp Babygros Row Of 2004.) He does scrumple things up quite often when hanging them up, and I loathe being nominally in charge of Putting Stuff way but since these days all that really means is putting my stuff way (carefully) and his (not quite so carefully) I feel I get a better deal on this one.

bigTillyMint · 20/07/2015 14:32

LalsyGrin yes, I just worked that out halfway through filling the online form in.

Am having to forage in the loft for winter/ski stuff, and I may have to forage in the camping stuff for the travel towels DH insists we needHmm

herbaceous · 20/07/2015 14:35

We do our own laundry, and each bung in some stuff of DS's into our load if it needs doing. While it drives me batty that he hangs his stuff up all crumpled, as I don't have to iron it I don't care. However, when he does it to DS's stuff, then screws it up into the drawer, it gets me Proper Vexed. However, I think he thinks he's being generally Marvellous in doing the laundry in the first place, so any criticism may well be met by a Hurt Look.

Rosebag · 20/07/2015 16:11

Yes, Tilly I think it's that cafe….I have just been told RFH cafe for the meeting so it's the obvious one.

CV I think you've got it right…not allowing anyone else to do the laundry….I'm that way myself but then get resentful that no one helps me…..and then get even more resentful that they Do It Wrong. Confused

DS2 is at work experience in a French bank. He has been given translation work. The first document they thought would take him all day but he says he did it by lunchtime. The second one they have left him with, is a 14 page document to summarise in 5 lines. He says the French is ok but he doesn't have the first clue about any of the content….

MollyAir · 20/07/2015 18:14

I'll be there tomorrow at RFH at 12.30pm. Smile

BTM, sorry to have missed your post about nipping to my manor - we have been mad busy here, so no MNing - next time you must come for coffee - or wine! Don't suppose we'd have any of the books your dd needs?

bigTillyMint · 20/07/2015 21:06

Molly, no worries - it was near Raynes Park, but DH took a strange route and it took ages to get there. And then it was on grass - DS is used to 4G - twas a friendly with a lesser clubGrin

We were looking for Psychology books on Memory and History books on Henry VIII and the Wars of the Roses. Plus some fiction which she then has to do a critical analysis of. I will be asking all you writers for advice, no doubt, when she starts shrieking that she can't do it!

cremolafoam · 20/07/2015 21:09

On student books: can they be got on kindle? I know dd has said that this is how she gets hers for nowt or next to nowt( she only told me this after I'd given her £££ for books last termAngry) disclaimer : it's possible this is not entirely legal Blush

In holiday news it is still 35 sleeps till my hols and given that we also have the heating on ( WineNU) and work is appalling in every way it's not soon enough.
We now have a meeting tomorrow for 2 hours, one on Wed morning for 4 hours and then a 1:1 on Friday. I am fit to be tied by What Is Going On. The tears today were my own, in the loo.
I am curled into a rage with fear and infuriation. Oh yeh then we are required to go to a 4 week course in August. They have employed a team from The Mainland ( be still my furious temper at that faux pas -condescending wan----ers) to train us 'for the transition, and to enhance the experience for us into our enhanced roles. Puke.
I'll be lucky to outlast tomorrow at this rate.
Apologies for the rant but I am incandescing.

Blackduck · 20/07/2015 21:14

Cremo sympathetic {{ }}
The more I hear the more angry I get - it's a farce. Apparently out HH has decided to up the staff to be retained by 0.5 of a post..... I am not sure if he is kidding or not.....

At least you get meetings - we don't!

Have paid safari bit of hols = now officially broke. If I am made redundant we. are screwed :(.

Oh happy days.

cremolafoam · 20/07/2015 21:40

Courage Sister BD. ( am watching the fabulous Lucy Worsley)
Thanks

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/07/2015 22:32

Does anyone have any ideas on where to take DD2's fussy friend for dinner tomorrow night? She doesn't eat Chinese, Japanese or Indian food, or Lebanese/Turkish, and won't try anything new eg mushy peas or chicken pie. I have suggested Nice Italian Restaurant (where I went with Molly) but this has been vetoed by DD2 as they have had pizza twice and pasta twice since FF has been here. I am in quiet despair now. The other thing she has eaten lots of has been burger and chips (plain burger, in bun with absolutely nothing else with it). Byron has also been vetoed for this reason. And when we have eaten out somewhere different, eg Cafe Rouge, she has ordered burger and chips... I did consider Zedel, but thought it would be wasted on her, and now too late to book anyway. Any ideas? I thought maybe Cote or some other chain?

QueenQueenie · 20/07/2015 22:43

Cote would be good as there is a good choice and your dd (and you!) can have something you fancy. What does dd think you should do?

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/07/2015 22:57

QQ - she unhelpfully doesn't know. Have pointed out that our menu and choice of resto has been somewhat constrained by what FF will and won't eat. Do we book at Cote or just turn up? I am really not inclined to go somewhere really nice, as it will give me the rage if she refuses to eat what she has ordered once again.

QueenQueenie · 20/07/2015 23:08

Agree - would give me the rage too Mrs S. What would you like?? I advise pleasing yourself quite frankly - let her eat plain rice / a side order of chips / whatever! If she's going home soon she's unlikely to develop rickets / scurvy on your watch...

Auriga · 21/07/2015 02:12

Last day of work for a week Grin

Retrieved DD from orchestra tour, re-packed her bag & ready to set off for visit to friends in Germany at 05:30. Sister and husband have arrived to look after Mum (well the cover story is they're looking after the dog). She seems okay, we had a brief conversation on the phone & she said she's seeing the community drug/alcohol team & is motivated to get things under control.

Sorry to hear you are being messed around like this, Crem. BD too. Will catch up when I can. Good wishes to all who are meeting up tomorrow.

Blackduck · 21/07/2015 06:03

Agree with QQ MrsS pick somewhere like Cote where you know burger, chips, pizza, pasta will be on the menu, but there will also be other nice things for you :)

MontserratCaballe · 21/07/2015 08:00

MrsS, you can book at Cote but you don't have to. Depends which one you are going to, really, and whether it is likely to be busy. If you are in town, I would also consider Brasserie Blanc. I was at the one at the Opera Terrace on Friday night and it is a lovely setting, with lots of interesting choices for you and the plain burger and chips for her. When is she leaving?

BD, sorry things are so shitty. Courage and strength Flowers. Thinking of you, too, Crem - BTW, how is DD getting along?

Sorry not to see you lovely girls today at the RFH. I hope you have a great time.

Washing - mine, all mine at casa mia. Like many other jobs.

I have already ladyjogged and had a shower. It's the only way to fit it in when it's the hols. We have DD1's friend today so I am going to take them all on a bracing S London walk to B and Q, then knife sharpeners in H Hill, followed by park. There may be chips involved too. It's glorious here already. Hope it is nice where you are - NU, hope it has warmed up.

motherinferior · 21/07/2015 08:26

Ladysplash here (Ladyjogged yesterday) and am about to wrestle with the written word...

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/07/2015 08:36

Brasserie Blanc looks a good option - maybe we will try the one on the South Bank. I am losing the will to live here, and was going to book the local Turkish place, as they also do burger and chips, steak and chips, chicken and chips etc.

hattymattie · 21/07/2015 16:14

Hello Crepeys I'm back - Paris marginally cooler than the south. I am hopeful about getting a good night's sleep for the first time in two weeks. Haven't fully caught up on the thread yet but Mrs S - very annoying about FF!

On course books - I had to spend £150 on law books. By the way, has anybody read Seberg's Austerlitz? DD2 has it as a text next year and I've noticed no chapters or paragraphs. It looks a little daunting!

herbaceous · 21/07/2015 19:09

I have never heard of Cote or Brasserie Blanc. I clearly need to get out more.

Talking of which, it was v lovely to chew the (crepey) fat at the RFH today. Extremely civilised. It could quite easily have turned into a boozy afternoon, if we hadn't had to run off and do motherly duties.

I spent the entire morning at DS's end of year assembly, in church. The year 6s did a great little show, then all said thank you to particular people and teachers. I was welling up. Then there was a lovely song, in which the little ones sang a harmony! That set me right off. Then DS got his 'star of the term' award, and I could barely contain myself.

bigTillyMint · 21/07/2015 19:54

Bags seem to be packed-ish. Both DC are out (DS at a bbq round at a friends, went out covered in LynxWink) but hopefully back by 9 for final checks!

MollyAir · 21/07/2015 20:13

It was loverly to meet up with fellow Crepeys today in the sunshine...what a civilised way to do lunch. My Vitamin D levels are fully topped up. Smile

Have a wonderful hol, BTM!

cremolafoam · 21/07/2015 22:24

Welcome home Hatty and Bon voyage BTM and Auriga! There must be swing doors in the Crepey Riad today. May you have the rest you need.

Thanks for your encouraging words Auriga. Today was a joke. I'd like not to care frankly, but find I do.Sad

Monty DD seems to be ok. Her classic line , when I asked how she was getting on with the job hunting was
"ok, but the broadband hasn't been connected yet so it's been a bit hard"
Shock

CointreauVersial · 21/07/2015 22:46

Even Dorking has a Cote. Smile

School's Out For Summer.... I have read the riot act to my lot, telling them I don't expect them to spend every single day for the next six weeks lounging in their PJs staring at a small screen... they have taken me at my word, and both DS and DD2 spent the afternoon out and about and have now buggered off for sleepovers.

Collecting new car tomorrow. Grin I mucked out the current one earlier, finding all sorts of items hidden in the crevices - DS's favourite sports bottle, a sock, a variety of cables, pens, hairbands and sweet wrappers, and a pile of school letters dating back to DD2's last term at primary. Blush

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/07/2015 23:20

Cote is everywhere, like Cafe Rouge, how can you not have heard of it? We went to Brasserie Blanc on the South Bank and walked home afterwards. It was very good. I am groaning.
