So there. :)

OP posts:
cremolafoam · 15/07/2015 21:52

Snurk@bd I am absolutely sure you could never piss me off enough to do that. Unlike the perfect storm that is Dh and dd when in top Aspergers / PITA too hot , wine at breakfast form respectively.
YES to Villa Crepesse.

Weirdness Mrs s. Twas an offer to catsit depending on timings. But if it's next week I cannae sadly. I'm assuming the urgency of course. If not then pm me.

cremolafoam · 15/07/2015 21:56

Erm, obv housesit at same timeGrinGrin

cremolafoam · 15/07/2015 22:09

Crepey Villas inspired by Hattys dd1

addle · 15/07/2015 22:15

Giant sausages on the sun beds Crem? innovative

Mrs S - I'm away part of next week plus two weeks in August so may be entirely useless but do check

Hattie - the grand tour sounds fab

Blackduck · 15/07/2015 22:17

Cremo that would do me!

lalsy · 15/07/2015 23:04

Yep, that will do nicely apart from those....things.

cremolafoam · 16/07/2015 00:04

You lot Grin

bigTillyMint · 16/07/2015 07:04

MrsS, that place is gorgeous - I want to go there now! Sadly I will be packing up waterproof trousers, ski jackets and base-layer.

DD came back with loads of bags yesterday - had been shopping with her mates after the surprise BBQ they did for her on Tues night, with disposable BBQ's on the hill in a park in the night - early birthday celebration as everyone is going away. She now has lots of teeny tops and harems for ReadingSmile

beachyhead · 16/07/2015 07:33

Love that place, even with sausages! We're off later today, with the camper, on the overnight ferry to France. We meet the same family there every year, no enforced togetherness, just meet up for drinks, out for dinner etc.

I've passed on your beach recommendation to dd1, Mrs S. Thanks. I think she's probably just tired and a bit homesick. We catch up with her half way down France on Saturday morning and I can't wait!

BD, hope your situation resolves itself peacefully. The relief I felt when I put on my 'out of office' response was huge. Old boss is now talking to me, but new boss hasn't approached me at all. I need to just go and knock on his door and I will when I get back.

hattymattie · 16/07/2015 08:13

Hello Beachy - it's sweltering here.

beachyhead · 16/07/2015 08:22

I'm not sure we are coming as south as you, HM. We will be trundling, very slowly, down to the Ile de Re. First time we've taken the camper van abroad, so full auto recovery protection in place!

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/07/2015 08:30

Addle and Crem - have PM'd you both.

I messaged friends who had been desperate to have the house and cat sit last night as had heard nothing from them, asking what their plans were and got "Oh didn't we tell you? We're going to Greece after all. We could do it another time, just not in the summer..."

Blackduck · 16/07/2015 08:38

Hatty is the early morning coffee a French male thing then?

Works for me - I get.a lie in and he brings tea and breakfast back Grin

Beachy I too can't wait to put the out of office on, BUT I need to know what's happening - do I have a job (I think I'm okay), more importantly does my team member? I have emailed to ask if we can have a detailed timeline of next steps (they might fire me for constantly pointing out how incompetent they are Grin )

motherinferior · 16/07/2015 08:44

Morning all. I can report that a nice G&T, just the one, did the trick marvellously. I have conducted another Ladysplash and shall embark on writing, slightly delayed, in a minute.

I think perhaps I need a break. I appear to be a bit stressed out Hmm Grin.

hattymattie · 16/07/2015 08:49

Wow MI - well done on all that already.

BD - where I live, many DH ( although not mine) stop off in the morning at the local brasserie to grab a quiet coffee before taking the RER into Paris.

cremolafoam · 16/07/2015 09:17

Hatty, it's the first thing Dh does when we get to France, and that sets the routine for the rest of the holiday. I meanwhile lie in a bit, go for a morning ladysplash , and a wander round the market picking him up on the way back. From what dm tells me , my dad has been doing this for decades too.Grin There are always rows of blokes with the local paper, a small coffee and a tousled look.

Beachy Bon Voyage. hope the camper takes the strain. How very exciting to meet up with dd! Hope you have a great holiday.!

bigTillyMint · 16/07/2015 09:46

LOL, my DH is the antithesis of French men. Though he loves the food and drink, particularly the wine and cheese!

Happy travels in your van Beachy - ile de Re is loverly.

motherinferior · 16/07/2015 09:53

In bikini news, DD1 also wants to get one with Huge Pants. Frankly if I looked like DD1 I'd be prancing around in the skimpiest outfit I could find...

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/07/2015 09:54

Next year I am going to book our holiday months in advance, and also a reliable cat sitter. Actually, I think next year I will go on my own, or go with DD1. I have been chivvying DD2 and her friend to get up for the past hour, so that we can get into town and onto a tour bus.

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/07/2015 10:01

MI - DD2 has one with pants that Adequately Cover the Bottom. She rejected quite a few, on the grounds that they did not. Hers is from Freya as a regular one did not contain her assets sufficiently for comfort.

DD2 and her friend have now made it into the bathroom, so it will probably be another hour before we get out.

Have contacted two cat sitters that live near us through an agency but no response. Most agencies only seem to cover Norf London or the leafier reaches of SW London.

herbaceous · 16/07/2015 10:25

I need bikini bottoms that adequately cover the entire body. Talking of which, really must do some exercise!

As for going on holiday with other families, and potential clash in parenting styles, indeedy. And the difference doesn't have to be very large to start to grate. I'd forgotten that I went to Centerparcs and shared a 'lodge' with one of my besties - a single mum of twins. Within a few seconds of entering the lodge it was covered in raisins, with toys everywhere, drink spilled all over the floor, etc etc. To move anywhere or sit down meant moving some of their detritus, but in doing so looked critical of her 'laissez faire' parenting. On the other hand, I've been away for weekends with parents whose children follow a strict routine, eat only organic line-caught quinoa, and aren't allowed to get dirty. That is equally grating.

I think separate accommodation is a must!

motherinferior · 16/07/2015 10:55

By a series of happy accidents we have booked a holiday house that has rather more bedrooms than inmates of the Inferiority Complex. I am hoping this will mean we all actually enjoy ourselves.

bigTillyMint · 16/07/2015 11:08

MrsS, just had an idea and PM'd you.

MI, you can move around, a different room every nightWink

cremolafoam · 16/07/2015 12:00

MI sounds eminently sensible.

In cat news I have just caught a fox trying to get through the cat flap. I wonder how long it's been stealing Cremcat's food (which is laced with pills for hyperthyroid.) Sometimes I despair living in the country. ( although I expect urban foxes are equally cheeky )

Big pant bikinis are all the rage it seems. I am sticking with my stomach holding in swimsuit. I suspect a big pant would look like a nappy on me, or a reminder of those giant knickers we wore at school. ( we called them Bullet Proofs)Grin

QueenQueenie · 16/07/2015 12:12

Bon Voyage to all those heading off on their hols. Very jealous of your French sojourn Beachy - sounds loverly. And your adventures too BTM.
Good luck sorting out those pesky cats Mrs S - you really deserve a holiday.

Definitely agree re the hell of being at too close quarters with grating parenting. Recipe for disaster. We now have it down to a fine art of spending the last two weeks of August in the same place every year with two other families - all in separate houses but with lots of socialising / eating together etc. The perfect mix of diluting your own dysfunctional family and staying friends...
