WHY did I never try double wear foundation before???!

I have awful skin - prone to redness, dry patches, oil slicks, spots, wrinkles - you name it, I've got it! I have tried a ton of make-ups and due to my oiliness they have slid off my nose and forehead within an hour or so leaving me all patchy looking.

I had read about double wear here but didn't pay much heed, till yesterday. I caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror at lunchtime and frightened myself! I went to the nearest department store and asked the lady on the counter about it.

She matched up my skin colour with her little gadget and tried a bit on and best of all gave me a little pot to try at home.

I put it on this morning at 8.15 am, my complexion was the best it has looked in years when I put it on. I really couldn't believe it! I have just checked it there now in the mirror and it is STILL perfect!

I could cry with joy! I am in my early 40's and feel like I have wasted years with crap looking make up / skin.....

I am buying the full size bottle after work!

I find the light version dewier

yazzy85 · 24/06/2015 23:45

I use the light as well, only foundation that stays put on my oily skin!!

MadAngryGnome · 25/06/2015 00:59

I'm on my ten day sample and love it. I'm oily skinned and acne prone and it stays on all day and does a good job of covering up flaws, win. Goes on nicely with a brush too. Thinking I might try a sample of the double wear light though for weekend days.

The only downside is getting it off! Finding I have to do two good scrubs with a flannel.

27inmyhead · 25/06/2015 06:54

I find it very thick and would never wear it in the daytime. I wore it to an evening do and my skin looked amazing in the photos (my skin is not great.)

TorrAlexandra · 25/06/2015 12:08

I've used it for a few years now. I get dry skin and eczema, particularly in winter, and found that this was drying it out a little bit so I usually put on some nivea at night creme and in the morning a little while before I do my make up. I also use benefit primer (forget what it's called). Also use urban decay make up spray to keep everything in place. It really does last far better than others I've tried- I can get quite sweaty on my forehead and either side of my nose when I'm hot, and it doesn't budge. Think I've found my make up groove Smile. I tend to use it less in summer though and just put a bit of concealer on instead as i prefer to get a bit of sun on my skin.

I found this about a year ago & its great! I work in a really hot building & my face just used to slide off by lunch time. Not so with Doublewear, my skin is greasy with open pores, uneven skin tone & a few veins near my nose. All of them hidden with this its brilliant! And you only need a teeny amount for full coverage, I do apply with a brush as it seems to blend better.

bluejeanswhiteshirt · 25/06/2015 12:21

Can anyone recommend a good powder to go on top or is it not needed?

Cocoaone · 25/06/2015 15:02

I recently tried it in preparation for my wedding. Loved the colour, the coverage and the staying power.

However, it bought me out in cystic acne after a week - whereas I hadn't had a single spot after I changed from Clinque to Smashbox 6 months ago. Smashbox just doesn't last as long, but I'd rather have to touch up than suffer huge under-skin spots.

Senada · 25/06/2015 15:11

Agree the 'wear' is fantastic especially on my oily areas.
Couldn't get a colour match though. EL seem to think that fair skin has to be either pink or yellow. Mine's neutral pale beige.
Actually, to be fair, most cosmetic brands seem to not realise that some of us have neutral skin!

HeffalumpsnWoozles · 25/06/2015 17:37

bluejeans I'm using a Clinique loose powder, can't remember if it has a specific name but it's great. Again only need a little bit so lasts ages, creme blusher works better with it too.

MadAngryGnome · 25/06/2015 18:47

Fay Estée Lauder will colour match you and send you off with a ten day sample if you turn up to one of their counters. They're pretty good, I actually ended up with 3 little sample pots as I was an awkward colour match.

bluejeanswhiteshirt · 25/06/2015 19:01

Been to get colour matched and she gave me a sample, I LOVE it!!

I got some last week and it is amazing!

Sallystyle · 25/06/2015 19:29

I have dry skin, but it is fine as long as I moisturise well before hand.

chocolateyy · 25/06/2015 19:53

After your post OP, I went into Estee Lauder today to get them to colour match me.

My skin is a weird colour & I usually buy 2 foundations & mix them.

I have now got a perfect colour of foundation, with the coverage I want & it's stayed on all day.

Thank you so much.

Couldashouldawoulda · 25/06/2015 20:14

I thought the coverage was exceptional, but it was very heavy and aging on me, unfortunately. Maybe I need to try the light version.

shadesofwinter · 25/06/2015 20:53

I have very dry skin and I'm a recent convert to DW - I've never really worn foundation as I always found it orangey on me but at almost 40 I need a bit more coverage now and this is amazing stuff. I'm just finishing my free sample but have already bought a full size bottle and will be wearing every day Smile

Sallystyle · 25/06/2015 21:25

I just bought a foundation pump to put on mine and I found I wasted a lot without it.

LMGTFY · 25/06/2015 21:35

I've been wearing this for a few years now and I adore it, I've never stuck with a foundation as long (Dior was the last one). I generally just wear it without anything underneath it but for going out will use benefit porefessional, however I find I need to leave it a good 15 mins before putting the double wear on or it doesn't stay put so well.

pinkbadger · 25/06/2015 22:16

I started using the light version about 18 months ago then switched to the BB cream which is even lighter weight and loved both. I have good combination skin but with some unevenness of skin tone. I have however now switched to Garnier BB cream with 'blur' which I love even more (tried a sachet from a magazine).

Cloggal · 25/06/2015 23:59

pinkbadger what's the coverage like on the bb? Double wear addict here because I have problem skin bib like different coverage on different days

Ponks · 26/06/2015 00:04

I recently started using Doublewear and love the coverage and staying power - my foundation normally disappears by the afternoon but this keeps going and doesnt wear off - but after a couple of weeks it seems to be giving me lumps and spots ... I'm going to keep going for a while as I've been stressed too so maybe that's it, but posts above about developing acne have me worried. The Doublewear light version was too light coverage for me.

yazzy85 · 26/06/2015 00:26

For those having breakouts, make sure you are removing the foundation properly when washing. A good make up remover like clinique's take the day off balm really helps to melt away the residue that can get left behind especially because this is a longwear formula.
