Foundation for hot weather

Can anyone recommend a foundation that will stay on in hot weather and not just slide off of my face? I've tried MACs Pro-Longwear and it stays on, but feels like I'm wearing a mask! Mineral powder doesn't work either as, being a guy, my pores are quite large and I need better coverage. Any suggestions would be hugely welcome! :)

I have large pores and oily skin, as well as some old acne scarring and I've just discovered Boots No.7 Beautifully Matte foundation... It's great!

Good coverage, doesn't slip, only a thin layer required so it doesn't feel heavy, and is matte without being a 'chalky' matte

rachelmonday1 · 22/06/2015 10:16

Thanks *RedDwarfPosse". I hadn't thought of No7 as I used to use some of their stuff a few years ago, before being tempted onto MAC. Looks as though I'll be popping in for a look-see :)

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light also stays put just like the original but less of a mask finish!

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 22/06/2015 10:31

Have you tried a setting spray? Urban decay do a couple that are really good.

AMcoffeeLover · 22/06/2015 10:33

I second estee Lauder double wear. I can go for a run on a hot day and still look flawless by the end Smile
Great coverage (its covering the chemical burn on my face very well)
The original is also good but much less forgiving with application. You need to move fast with the smoothing and blending or it sets unevenly, ideally whole face covered and smoothed/blended in 2 mins for best result!

Thanks Ladies, all ideas very welcome!!

2 minutes?? That would be a record for me!!! :)

YSL Fusion Ink. Get a sample to try first but this works brilliantly for me. You can layer it for where you need more coverage but it always looks natural. I add a little bit of sheer powder when the weather is really hot or menopausal flushes start...

Picachew · 22/06/2015 11:57

YSL Fusion Ink for me too, it's my HG foundation. It seems to bond to my skin rather than sit on the surface.

frankietwospots · 22/06/2015 12:01

I really must get some Double Wear light. I've got the normal DW but it's too much for hot weather. Anyone use DW in Fresco? No idea what shade I will be in the Light version, given that I have fake tan on as well.

AnotheBloodyChinHair · 22/06/2015 12:16

frankietwospots I was going to ask that exact same question. I also use ELDW in Fresco but I am so fed up wit the container I want to try the light one. No time to go to a counter so want to order online but don't know what shade to go for.

rachelmonday1 · 22/06/2015 12:16

I've been browsing YSL and it seems that Fusion is getting mixed reviews. Well worth getting a sample though I think.

I find the only way to get any correct shade colour / shade is to go to a counter

Ink Fusion IME isn't a dewy foundation at all. I like that as I have combination skin and hate a dewy look as it just seems greasy to me.

I would say it has a velvet finish. It's watery on contact with the skin and then seems to evaporate. I've tried hundreds. It's my favourite by a country mile.

rachelmonday1 · 22/06/2015 12:31

You've described it pretty well as per their website Picachew. I also have combination skin and will definately be popping into Debenhams to give it a try :)

Great, hope it works for you! They gave me a tiddly bottle with a tiddly applicator like a flat spatula attached to the lid. I use a Real Techniques face brush to brush it on with after I've swiped the spatula thing on my face.

In super hot sticky weather I swipe a bit of Clinique pressed powder over it. Love it love it love it! I was so excited to find my HG foundation so I hope it works for you too.

I used to live in the tropics and now in Africa.

Laura Mercier and Giorgio Armani only ones that last for me, complete with LM primer.

Picachew · 22/06/2015 12:43

Forgot to mention, I'm BR30. I have a cool pale skin. BR is for cool, BD is for warm and B is neutral. Or so the SA said anyway!

rachelmonday1 · 22/06/2015 12:50

I think I'm just going to have from counter to counter. Why is this stuff so complicated?????? Confused

OP posts:
Picachew · 22/06/2015 13:16

I hated LM, it slid off. The oil free stuff brought me out in spots. Had to bin both. Nightmarishly expensive mistake!

AMcoffeeLover · 22/06/2015 13:31

another what shade are you in your current ELDW?

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 22/06/2015 13:36

the face atelier stuff works for me, apparently its what backing dancers use so stays put through sweat / swimming etc. gives me a lovely finish and is the only make up that I have had comments on as to how good my skin looks for my age

Robstersgirl · 22/06/2015 17:07

Had to be ELDW I researched the exact same thing last year as I started a very active sweaty job (no, not Diary of a call girl stuff - naughty!) but it's the only foundation that lasts the day, through hard graft and over active heating.

Robstersgirl · 22/06/2015 17:09

*has

Robstersgirl · 22/06/2015 17:09

Also hairspray is the best setting spray ever!
