I bought them because I wanted all grey shoes for the day. My work colleague who is 30 said I'm abit old for them but not for Converse -Confused will I look like the olsdest swinger in town? I can still take them back.

What a bitchy thing to say! I'm 33, perhaps I'm too old to get it too! Pah. I always liked vans. It's not as if you have to be a skater to wear them.

Kasey86 · 18/06/2015 13:14

My 81yr old grams has vans :)

iusedtobecool · 18/06/2015 13:14

I'm 36, almost 37 and I want a pair. My DP lives in his!

dexter73 · 18/06/2015 13:27

I've got a Liberty pair and love them. I'm 42.

RedRugNoniMouldiesEtc · 18/06/2015 13:44

The age limit is simply a limit in your colleagues head. Normal people see canvas style pumps with a brand badge on. Either you like that style shoe or you don't. Splitting brands into age appropriateness illustrates a tendency to over think things and of having to much time on her hands, delegate more work her way Grin

I want vans and I'm over 30.
I have converse but they really hurt, my little toes get blisters. I tried my mates vans on and now I want I want I want.

thewholedamntown · 18/06/2015 15:29

I'm almost 35 and I wear Vans all the time. Couldn't care less what people think and they go with loads of outfits...and they're mega comfy. Love them. Smile

daftyburd · 18/06/2015 15:39

There is no age limit on Vans nor it seems on stupidity. Your colleague not you OP.

Bombaybunty · 18/06/2015 15:55

I have a Liberty pair as well and I'm 53!

Ridiculous colleague.

Icelandicsuperyoghurt · 18/06/2015 16:23

I would have bought some the other day if they'd have been comfortable. I'm 54. Why on earth should Converse be ok but Vans not - is she the shoe age police?!

Madbengalmum · 18/06/2015 17:33

Stupid person, no you are not too old!

spleenyone · 18/06/2015 17:39

Do not take them back! I'm 36 and still wear vans, have done since I was a teenager and probably always will. That woman was rude.

Themoleandcrew · 18/06/2015 17:42

I'm 34 and I have Star Wars vans. I don't care if I'm too old I love them

Marylou2 · 18/06/2015 17:43

Can't imagine Vans would be too pleased to read this, imagine having your market restricted to the under 30s only. DH wears them all the time and he's (whisper it) 54!! What nonsense from your colleague.

Potterwolfie · 18/06/2015 17:47

I'm 40 and I bought some striped lace up ones recently, as a change from my usual Converse. Love them. Too old? Pfft!

EuphemiaCoxton · 18/06/2015 20:05

Just googled star wars vans.
Awesome.

AmelieinOz · 18/06/2015 23:52

I think your colleague is just being a bitch.

I would love a pair of Star Wars vans. I have the Beatles one.

53Dragon · 18/06/2015 23:54

My 80 year old mother bought herself some Babycham trainers the other day 'because they're so comfy'... Grin

PantMoustache · 19/06/2015 08:49

I have some ponyskin ones. I am 44.

AgentProvocateur · 19/06/2015 08:50

I'm 47 and I love my Vans.

WhirlpoolGalaxyM51 · 19/06/2015 08:53

I wasn't even aware that people looked at clothes and thought in terms of age-appropriateness. I mean apart from babygros and things! Mind you, onesies.

Don't people just think, I like that, it suits me, I'll buy it? And sometimes, I like that, and it doesn't really suit me, but I don't care?!!

Ignore your colleague she is being very silly.

Trills · 19/06/2015 08:56

Vans are for swingers are they?

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 19/06/2015 08:57

There is no age limit on Vans nor it seems on stupidity
