I bought them because I wanted all grey shoes for the day. My work colleague who is 30 said I'm abit old for them but not for Converse -Confused will I look like the olsdest swinger in town? I can still take them back.

Vans and converse have been my first choice in trainers for the past 17 years (I'm 31) and I don't see that stoping anytime soon. So I definitely don't think you are too old for vans.

Trills Grin

I can only assume your colleague isn't very stylish or fashionable...? A 'safe' dresser methinks? Sounds like a bitchy thing to say and probably she is someone to avoid, if she's the kind of person who says that to someone who's already bought and wearing the shoes.

Liberty Vans these are gorgeous.

ClaimedByMe · 19/06/2015 10:00

I am 33 and want the vans with the puppies on but just bought new pink and grey converse so cant justify another pair of new shoes!

Chickenandpenguin · 19/06/2015 10:04

Hmm I'm 34 and have been wearing vans/converse/dc shoes since my teens. I currently am sporting some bright blue leopard print vans. They are gorgeous and comfy. Your colleague is an arse.

Tell her to fuck off (or work appropriate to that effect).

This is the 2nd thread today where someone has been worrying about being "too old" for something their style.
Even if one were misogynistic and bought into the whole mini skirts, bikini age limits (which I don't )... trainers and sneakers are universal.

ENJOY YOUR NEW SHOES!!Grin Grin Grin And give not one single fuck about the haters.

Corygal · 19/06/2015 16:48

47 and proud Van Fan. I'm wearing these now, your colleague would be tutting her face off.

MamaLazarou · 19/06/2015 16:54

What rot. Your colleague is a bell end.

Tia4 · 20/06/2015 14:01

Had to google what they were. Obviously I'm not in that camp. Soon to be mr D was really struggling to get white deck shoes so he got these ' plimsolls' for our beach wedding.

I didn't care for them and we managed to find something better.

When I googled vans I got a bit of a shock to see the Same pair on the site.

There are some pretty one out there though.

( I thought it was funny there were a lot of white plimsolls in the shops right now! )

We are definitely too old
