I HAVE to review this! Philips Lumea.

I read about the Lumea on here and ended up ordering the plus one.

Bit of background:

I am white with dark hair that is really quite coarse. I've struggled with body hair all my life and quite frankly just gave up the last few years because my regrowth is awful.

Even shaving my armpits I would have itchy stubble within 12-14 hours.

My bikini area I just left as a bush because the itching with shaving would be immediate and the regrowth came through within hours.

So I bought the Lumea a few weeks ago. Used it on my pits, facet, bikini area, legs.

I wasn't sure anything was happening first because I shaved, zapped and straight away the normal regrowth came through but I did my 2nd round 2 weeks later Sunday and my god. I would say 60-70% of my bikini line hair is gone. I vet had no itching.

Same with my underarms!
I didn't end up doing my legs Sunday (need to)

And I would say 90% of my lip hair is gone!!

It's absolutely amazing. I'm writing this because the hefty price really put me off but I'm so glad I got it and I'm only 2 weeks in with 2 treatments done!!

Ordered mine direct from Philips with Olive's marvellous discount codes and got it down from £250 to £146 with free delivery Smile

I will review ( think DH is more excited than me to have a go at removing Chewbacca from his back!)

OliveCane · 21/06/2015 21:22

Ordered the comfort (compact model) to get it down to £120

WalkingThePlank · 21/06/2015 22:07

Got mine yesterday. Its charging up now. Might try to have a go tomorrow. Am a bit scared. Not sure which body part to start with. Might do bikini line or arm pit first as a small area.

MitzyLeFrouf · 21/06/2015 22:12

If anyone would care to purchase one for me that would be marvellous. Thanks.

havemercy · 21/06/2015 22:24

Yay! Thanks Olive, I'm going to do this Shock

beavington · 21/06/2015 22:37

Do you have to wait two weeks between uses? Im going on holiday in a fortnight and the thought of being able to zap away all my hairiness in time is making me want to impulse buy Grin

DiscoDancer · 21/06/2015 22:43

Marking place, I could use my nectar points to pay for half a machine Grin

Talisin · 21/06/2015 22:46

Holly, it doesn't work on fair hair, no. It really needs to be at least mediumish brown.

beavington it is recommended to wait two weeks but a lot of people (including me) seem to do it weekly at the beginning. However unless you're one of the very lucky ones, it won't leave you significantly less hairy in just two weeks.

Magicpinkshadow · 21/06/2015 22:57

I would love to get one of these too but I have freckles and moles, does anyone know if that would be an issue??

Talisin · 21/06/2015 23:04

Magicpinkshadow it would be an issue I'm afraid. It will burn on spots of darker pigmentation (also why it shouldn't be used on tanned skin).

Sleepyfergus · 21/06/2015 23:23

Thanks to the philips website order codes. I also have just ordered the SC2004 model which was £350 for £175. I'm fair with dark hair so here's hoping for good results. (Also gonna attack DHs back!)

Am thinking the cost of this - assuming it works - will pay for itself fairly quickly when you consider the price of razor blades.

timefortiggy · 22/06/2015 00:17

I could only get one code to work??

Sleepyfergus · 22/06/2015 06:21

Which model are you ordering? Because they wouldn't work me me if I ordered another model (sorry, can't check which one at the mo) but def worked for the SC2004. I did the 35% one first then the 10% one next.

timefortiggy · 22/06/2015 07:16

Was the compact.

hollyisalovelyname · 22/06/2015 09:37

Thank you Talisin

Maidupmum · 22/06/2015 20:03

I hate Mumsnet.... I've now ordered both the £300 one 2006/11 & the comfort one (£117 on Philips website) and I can't decide which one to return!!!

yellowcurtains · 22/06/2015 21:35

How do you know it's safe? If it's intense pulses of light (like bright sunlight, hence the tanned skin issues) isn't it going to cause cancer in thirty years time or something?

038THETA · 22/06/2015 21:55

its not UV light Yellow, dont know the details off the top of my head but Im sure a quick google would shed some light on the issue of wavelengths and what have you!

WalkingThePlank · 22/06/2015 22:05

Just tried mine for the first time - did 1.5 legs and a minimal amount of bikini line. Not at all painful Smile

Did do a bit of unshaved upper leg which made a bit of a burnt hair smell.

woodhill · 22/06/2015 22:23

I must admit I thought about the safety aspect

These products will have been through tons of rigorous tests before being released on the market. You'll be fine.

beavington · 22/06/2015 22:53

Ah thanks talisin thats what i needed to hear. Gonna try and make sugar wax instead as its free.

RandomMess · 23/06/2015 22:39

Think I'm going to have to buy this for my dds. My youngest at 9 is desperate to get her legs waxed Sad

DextersMistress · 23/06/2015 22:51

Mines coming tomorrow, can't wait to try it Smile
