Thigh chaffing, what is the solution?

Zanzibaragain · 13/06/2015 09:17

It's hot and humid, I want to wear a pretty floaty dress not german hausfrau shorts or boring boring boring linen draw string trousers this summer.

I have tried antiperspirant, hairspray, lanacane, talcum powder, and some specialist stuff for surfers.

I don't want to wear Spanx but something similar in a lighter less suffocating and strangulating style would be great.

Any ideas

I always tend to wear a pair of thin cycling shorts under dresses/skirts. But I never wear anything shorter than knee length (I hate my fat knees!)

Thigh chafe is the WORST. You have my sympathy.

PrincessOfChina · 13/06/2015 09:21

I see you've tried antiperspirant so my suggestion of roll on is probably no good.

I hear Evans sell some sort of shorts?

Purpleball · 13/06/2015 09:22

Have you tried talc or lanacane anti chafing gel?
I used to wear cut off leggings under maxi dresses but got too hot

NomiMalone · 13/06/2015 09:22

YY cycling short knickers.

On holiday once I cut up a pair of leggings in desperation!

Obvious but slightly po-faced solution has been losing weight. It just doesn't happen anymore.

TobleroneBoo · 13/06/2015 09:23

Buzz feed did a thing on this recently and I am coveting a pair of very thin shorts with lace trim that they advertised. I have a of short white leggings but they get a bit bunchy

mayaknew · 13/06/2015 09:28

You know the big rolls of plasters ? I one bought one cut it into 4 long strips . 2 on each inner thigh . I liked that because plasters are flesh coloured so less likely to be noticed .

bimandbam · 13/06/2015 09:31

Place marking on this. We go to tenerife in the morning and I have worried about thigh chafe for days. We do a lot of walking.

Am going to experiment with sudacreme and hope for the best.

Bunbaker · 13/06/2015 09:38

Where is it hot and humid today? According to the BBC nowhere in the UK is going to be warmer than 19 degrees.

PattiODoors · 13/06/2015 09:40

Yes cotton mix cycle shorts. Get from amazon. This sorta thing:

loads of colours

TwllBach · 13/06/2015 09:43

I know you've said you've used antiperspirant, but I've always used my deodorant and it works really well!

somethinghadtobedone · 13/06/2015 09:46

Someone on here mentioned Bandalettes (think that's what they're called? They look like the tops of hold ups, I've not tried them though so can't vouch for effectiveness.

IhadsexwithanelfinIceland · 13/06/2015 09:46

May I present ....
Anti-Chafing Gel

IhadsexwithanelfinIceland · 13/06/2015 09:47

Sorry, just saw you had tried it, bugger!

BrennieGirl · 13/06/2015 09:50

For everyday use, I can get away with Lanacane.

For longer walks or sightseeing on holidays, I use Sloggis www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00SMYH2HU/ref=s9_hps_bw_g193_i5?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-3&pf_rd_r=187NAT7TQNWSHBMPB0MA&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=427935007&pf_rd_i=1648602031
I did balk at the price initially but I'm so glad I bought them. I try to wear them only when it's absolutely necessary but I find Sloggis tend to last for years anyway.

BrennieGirl · 13/06/2015 09:50

Oops, sorry about the long link.

Mamabird3 · 13/06/2015 10:04

H&M have thin lace trimmed shorts that are designed to be worn under clothes to stop thigh chafing, they come in white and black. I think they are about £3.99. I saw them recently in my local store.

pinkfrocks · 13/06/2015 10:05

Lose weight?

Zanzibaragain · 13/06/2015 10:10

May the milk in your tea be ever so slightly off pinK

OP posts:
pinkfrocks · 13/06/2015 10:12

I don't take milk in tea- but quite frankly it is the honest answer to your question.

PattiODoors · 13/06/2015 10:16

Er no Pinkfrock not always. Some of us get chafe no matter how much weight is lost.
Not sure why I am engaging with twatty posts though.

hollyisalovelyname · 13/06/2015 10:17

???? Zanzibar

feesh · 13/06/2015 10:18

M&S do cycling short type light cotton knickers in white, black and beige. They have been my lifesaver under maxi dresses here in the Middle Easr.

UnspecialSnowflake · 13/06/2015 10:19

I'm very pear shaped, even when I was a size 8 I had a certain amount of thigh chafe, some people just carry more weight on their thighs than others.

I wear Evans comfort shorts, if that helps.

notapizzaeater · 13/06/2015 10:19

I use the glide stuff, works fab. Just need something now to stop crotch rot under my boobs :-(
