Happy with natural large breasts?

I'm wondering if it's possible to be large breasted and pain free. I'm seriously considering breast reduction because I can't get properly fitted for a bra by either R&B or Bravissimo. The pain caused by wearing a bra is seriously impacting on my quality of life. Are there any positive similar experiences out. I'm a 36J.

Thankyou statistically I will get on it tonight after work!

Love how these threads always morph into the challenge of first getting a proper fitting, next trusting the fitting, breaking in the bra and then starting the whole process off again because the manufacturer doesn't make the bra anymore. Ahhhhhhhhhh.

However, just discovered how brilliant Mum's Net. My confidence has really increased as a consequence of all your comments.

When I struggle now with my 'issues' I've got your positivecomments over-riding my stream of misery.

Ladyb you could try an extender for the first couple of wears? It is tricky because once you know how supportive and firm a good bra can feel you reallt notice it stretching out.

Discontinued bras are so irritating!when I'm suggesting specific bras I do tend to try ones which are a constant shape for the manufacturer as then even if that specific one goes there's something the same shape. Doesn't always work though! I'm glad you are feeling more positive though

i was with some friends the other day and we were talking about the 'new' way of measuring for bras, and how we are all told that we are smaller in inches than we thought, and at least 2 cup sizes bigger BUT although we may be rewarded with a more perky silhouette and less slippage, we've never been so bloody uncomfortable in our lives. Confused

I honestly feel like I am in a vice some days - I almost cry with relief when I take my bra off the second I am in the door for the night.

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/06/2015 08:23

If its that uncomfortable something is wrong. It could be that you are needing one band up but its also really common for it to be needing an extra cup - one Too small often justmakes the band feel tight.

goodasitgets · 08/06/2015 08:46

Agree with statistically. I'm a size 16 top and in a 34 band and it's not uncomfy at all. I can drop to a 32 which I probably need to (weight loss)
Some bras I find comfier than others, I prefer panache to freya but ewa michalak to panache

Hell runner Grin at russian shot putter

I am suprised at so many posters saying their bra hurts. Mine doesn't at all , and I'm wearing a band size 1.5 inches smaller than my below bust measurement . I find going bra less so unconfortable, I wear old ones in bed. . Yes, I have a slight line when I take it off, same as my socks , knickers and waist on jeans but it never hurts. And I have a low pain threshold #wimp

This is a mystery to me - does it depend on how ..ahem..squidgy or muscular your back is?

squizita · 08/06/2015 10:28

Stacey I find certain shapes of bra dig in to my rib cage round the sides - I think it's both size and style that can be an issue. I've had bruises before! Shock

StaceyAndTracey · 08/06/2015 10:33

No no no,bruises are very bad and shouldn't be happening

I'm not a bra expert but I think it's to do with the shape of the wires , sounds like you need more of a U shape and less of a ).

Panache don't work for me as they dig in in the middle, as I'm quite narrow .i don't have to scoop from under the arm, I have to do the opposite

treaclesoda · 08/06/2015 10:54

Panache don't work for me either, for the same reason, the wires are just totally the wrong shape.

I measure 33 and wear a 32 (and in one particular Cleo bra I wear a 30) and it doesn't feel tight around the ribs at all, I can't really feel it when I'm wearing it. I've always been measured for bras in this way, so in 25 years of wearing bras I've never known anything else. Maybe that affects how I feel about it? But having said that, years ago when it was so hard to get anything beyond a DD, I did the M&S way and tried a couple of their bras in a 36. Now those bras dug in something terrible and were mind blowingly uncomfortable.

goodasitgets · 08/06/2015 11:12

I do a lot of exercise - measure 35/36 underbust and wear a 32/34

squizita · 08/06/2015 15:21

I don't currently have any bruising bras I hasten to add.
But I am very slim and bony round the torso with large boobs, some styles of bra bands dig in and press my flesh hard against my ribs if I wear a 28. I'm a 29 iyswim. I now wear 28 bands only in tried and tested styles (balconette for example) and go for a 30 or avoid certain other styles.
