Happy with natural large breasts?

I'm wondering if it's possible to be large breasted and pain free. I'm seriously considering breast reduction because I can't get properly fitted for a bra by either R&B or Bravissimo. The pain caused by wearing a bra is seriously impacting on my quality of life. Are there any positive similar experiences out. I'm a 36J.

Tealady How was I rude? I have no idea what the OP's weight is, but I think any woman should try dieting before surgery - don't you?

tefloncoated · 04/06/2015 23:45

Those Ewa Michalak do look nice statisticallychallenged.

wearejustlikeKevinBacon · 05/06/2015 06:42

They are a bit pricey tealady and possibly not as nice looking as some other brands, I guess I don't mind that so much as anything is an improvement on the big sized bras available in the 80's/early 90's!

Chimchar · 05/06/2015 07:05

I'm a 30KK. I have pain. My shoulders are misshapen, my upper back aches and my skin is thin and very sore where my bra rubs.

I Constantly struggle to get a bra that fits well (or even vaguely fits). I have to get one, try it for a few days, break it in, and then if its ok, i'll buy more in the same style until they are all worn out or broken, and then the trauma of shopping starts again.

Bravissimo have been ok for me, as have Leia until recently.

Where are you all buying these bras from? I have never heard of the brands you are talking about. Would LOVE to try something new!

I'm in Cardiff if it helps!

TongueBiter · 05/06/2015 07:10

I'm a 32GG and wear Fantasie - fitted at my local House of Fraser where there is a wonderful lady with an eye for sizing!

ItsRainingInBaltimore · 05/06/2015 07:16

I am a 36 G and I really don't think i could tolerate them any bigger. They don't give me back or neck pain but as I am getting older I find it increasingly difficult to find a bra that doesn't really cut into me and rub me red raw. I can't WAIT to get back into the house each afternoon/evening so I can take my bra off.

I go to great effort to make sure that my bras are well fitted and the right size but it makes no difference - they still kill me.

LastUnicorn · 05/06/2015 07:29

36k here and I have started wearing sports bras for comfort. I have a very comfy bra from eBay a brand called flirtini

Big boobs can be a nightmare and attract a lot of unwanted attention

CardigansForWinners · 05/06/2015 07:31

I always go and get my bras fitted (32GG) - LEIA but nearly all of them rub just below my arm pits where there is a very stiff seam. I end up actually bruised. It's a PITA but don't know if different bras would help, I always seem to have that problem.

indigoteeshirt · 05/06/2015 07:35

tea lady : tried online however the experience confirmed you need to be in the shop trying the range of sizes around personal measurements otherwise it is just too frustrating ordering so many in the hope that one might fit.

It's raining : thanks. your comment reassured me that it is not me being awkward.

Chimchar. and you seem to be benefitting too from this thread.

Tongue : maybe that's the answer finding the fitter then the bra - just as is with any specialist necessity.

again many thanks for your comments. Please keep them coming. everyone greatly appreciated.

Op - where abouts are you? In the north east we have 'Sadie the Bra Lady' shops

They're amazing - no measuring, they just look at you and know your size (I'm 34hh, I was wearing a 36g)

Then they go through different styles till you're comfortable, adjusting straps etc. It's a really personal service.

The difference a good fitting bra makes is amazing.

EuphemiaCoxton · 05/06/2015 08:00

I have large breasticles, and I hate hate hate it.
I'm a 28G and a size 8 to 10. I have wasted an unbelievable amount of money on bras that don't fit. I still haven't found one. I don't like half or quarter cup bras. I like proper ones with moulded cups and under wires.

Wonderbra used to make the most beautiful, comfy, supportive bra imaginable in a 30f which fitted but now they don't.
Cleo bras are too deep. They leave horrible painful welts between boobs.
Freya bras sort of pucker/wrinkle/gap on the underside.
Bravissimo own brand aren't supportive enough. They make me look droopy, and I'm not.

My sister got hers reduced and I wish I could.
Swimsuit shopping reduces me to tears just thinking about it. And the first thing I think when shopping us 'will it fit?'

My upper back stoops now and I have permanent scars under my arms

MamaLazarou · 05/06/2015 08:11

Suggesting that someone's breasts are big because they are overweight is rude. Breasts are not made of fat, they are made of breast tissue. I have been size 10, size 18 and everything in between over the years and my breasts have been exactly the same size since I was 15.

OP, I would definitely second the yoga suggestion. It improves your strength and posture, and may well make you feel better about your body in general.

AnythingNotEverything · 05/06/2015 08:22

To answer the original question, I'm currently a 34J (at almost 38 weeks of and will get bigger as I'm intending to BF) and I have no discomfort at all. I wear a bravissimo own brand bra. Maybe I'm lucky in that my boobs fit their styles, but I honestly couldn't imagine being more comfortable if I were an a cup. I just don't give my boons a second thought, and I wear a bra from breakfast until bedtime - I do take it off when I get home.

sanfairyanne · 05/06/2015 08:42

it can definitely be helped by losing weight. i am now 34 hh and to be honest, a bit fat. when i was slim i was a 34 d then dd then f then ff as the weight piled on Blush . i also have a friend whose consultant advised her to try that before surgery - seems a sensible enough suggestion. i can see how it might not help a few people - the women in bra magazines all look very slim just with massive boobs - but walking round i dont see many women like that
anyhow, i am happy with mine, no pain. bra is ok ish but interested in these other makes. i have found i need to discourage bra fitters from measuring me as a 38 though - i like a tighter fit to carry the load there rather than on my shoulders. if mine hurt, i would lose a couple of stone first or get my bmi to bottom of normal, then try surgery. life's too short for constant pain Sad

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/06/2015 08:49

Euphemia you might have tried already but the other moulded ones I can think of in your size would be the curvy Kate smoothie and the panache porcelain. Also, the cleo maddie is a totally different cut to other cleos and is much shallower in the cup - I normally get on with cleo but it was a disaster on me! Bravissimo own brand are all cut for different shapes too but even some of the staff don't realise so there may be something in their range to fit. What's the best fitting bra you have out of interest?

Someone asked upthread where to get some of these brands -ewa mic is online only in the UK

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/06/2015 08:52

Sanfairyanne you're totally right about the firmer band, it makes a huge difference to back neck and shoulders. Means that they need broken in more but it saves me from back pain I was plagued with in a bigger band smaller cup combo.

whattheseithakasmean · 05/06/2015 08:54

Thank you sanfairyanne. Yes, breasts are composed of breast tissue, but like all of our body will be bigger if also covered in a layer of fat - I would have thought that was obvious, not offensive.

Orangeanddemons · 05/06/2015 09:24

Well at my slimmest I was a 28 gg. They still looked huge

squizita · 05/06/2015 10:49

Euphemia same problem here. And no room to lose weight, my clothes are falling off me.

I also agree about Bravissimo. .. awful fitting every time. I had one old fitter in a Debenhams I trusted but she retired. Sad

squizita · 05/06/2015 10:52

...generally if you have a band width of 28 or 30, you're not going to be needing to lose any weight.
You can still have a massive cup size though - naturally.

I am always shocked how many women assume this is not possible.

Also the flips ide, I knew a size 24 lady with b cups, could not get a bra for love nor money.

squizita · 05/06/2015 11:00

San fairy depending on height bottom end of normal bmi can be problematic for big booed ladies. ... The breast tissue being part if your weight, you can end up with too little body fat but ok on the scales.
When i was younger I was clearly too skinny but my boobs enabled me to pass on paper as not underweight. I was fainting and weak.

So such diets need to be done with medical advice. I assume as simply as estimating the difference between normal breast tissue and the big breasts, and taking this into account at weigh ins.

When I was skinny I was often "slur shamed" at uni (by conservative types and people who thought they were being PC and my boobs were surgically enhanced). Sad

ClareAbshire · 05/06/2015 11:03

I'm a 36MM since I had my last baby and not in any pain. I was fitted by an independent bra shop but I think it's all about the fit and right bra. I've got some old pre baby bras that are a bit small but not ridiculously so and if I stick one of those on (because my four staples are all in the wash usually) I regret it within minutes.

For me the big two things I need are thick straps and full cups. Those two elements make even the worst bra better.

Twinklestein · 05/06/2015 11:09

Would losing weight help? Slim women don't generally have huge boobs. Surgery seems drastic, except as a total last resort.

Nonsense. I'm size 8, 32E/30F, not mahoosive, but there are plenty of slim women around with large boobs that aren't implants.

whattheseithakasmean · 05/06/2015 11:13

But size 8 is meaningless nowadays, with vanity sizing. Sorry, but it really is.

MamaLazarou · 05/06/2015 11:18

Can we stop with the weight comments now, please? It's really offensive. Most women with big breasts just have big breasts whatever their weight, OK? If you don't have anything constructive to offer, your comments are not helpful.
