Asian and Korean skincare products seem to be a big thing right now - we are falling in love with quite a few things...

Oh yes the fabled smell. I've just put some
on and didn't notice a thing so it can't be that bad, off to sniff the bottle now Grin

lucysmam · 06/06/2015 11:09

Yes! Smell and report back! maybe I'm just sensitive to smell Confused

XiCi · 06/06/2015 11:15

Yes it does have a smell, it's like a faint whiff of jagemeister, very odd, though the smell is mild and dissipates very quickly so don't let it put you off, I honestly didn't notice it on application

lucysmam · 06/06/2015 11:22

Not strictly skin-care but an interesting article here linked from reddit about Japanese drugstore make up. I'll have a proper read when I get in but may delve into the world of shampoos and conditioners as well Smile

Baalamooree · 06/06/2015 11:27

A part II, wonderful! Thank you Frugal

Received my Biore earlier this week. It really is amazing. It's goes on so easily and best of all, no white cast. Are we sure this is sunscreen?! Smile

Now I'm just waiting for my snail repair gel, my Hado Labo, my Mizon first essence. Hurry up...

XiCi · 06/06/2015 11:29

Oh god lucysmam we're all going to be bankrupt by the end of this thread Grin

XiCi · 06/06/2015 11:35

That's a really interesting article. I've tried the DHC oil cleanser and it's really good, have just used the last bit of the bottle. I'm going to order the hado labo cleanser and emulsion as well but have so much stuff to use up first. The amount of cleansers I have on the go is obscene.

Have always loved shisheido make up

FrugalFashionista · 06/06/2015 11:47

Baala I was a bit paranoid about Biore last week and did a lot of reading on sunscreen ingredients. Biore is a fully chemical sunscreen. I was initially worried that as it is Octinoxate based it might not have UVA coverage (UVB burns, UVA ages the skin, UVC is absorbed by ozone layer). But it does contain a separate UVA protector - details here. If you want to be extra sure and have something physical in the formula, pink Missha sunscreen has zinc. I always wear Biore with BB creams that have some titanium and zinc - an American skincare nerd actually reviewed the most popular BB creams sold in the US on PocketDerm and concluded Dr Jart Premium (one of my favorites) could be used on its own as a suncreen provided that you apply at least 1/4 tsp.

TL;DR
A sunscreen that you actually wear every day protects better than one that you don't. I had a tube of LRP Anthelios on my desk all summer long last year but almost never put it on - I could not deal with the clogginess and grease and the white cast.

FrugalFashionista · 06/06/2015 11:52

Ooh thanks XiCi! I can deal with Jägermeister! I feared it smelled like burned tyres or something. Their names, btw, are insane.

Thanks for the great article Lucysmam! I have tried Missha tsubaki shampoo, really liked it, it was not too oily - so not enough for someone looking for a really nourishing product but really nice for my fine hair. Might purchase a full size in the future as soon as I have finished a huge backup bottle of my favorite Wella shampoo.

I am happy to use the Korean ones in the UK but when I'm on holiday I will switch to the LRP Anthelios purely because I know it works really well and I'm not taking any chances with my face in 40 degree heat. I'm not saying the Korean ones wouldn't work but I'd rather stick with what I know when it has performed so well for me before .

Frugal I don't know which LRP you have but the ultra light fluid is lovely and doesn't leave a white cast, just sinks right in. The tinted version is lovely in summer as well though I know some people find it too dark.

Baalamooree · 06/06/2015 11:58

frugal I was going to do a bit of research too but never got round to it - thank you for sharing that.

Not sure I'm best pleased with you for the Missha sunscreen tip. I had convinced myself not to buy anything else until my other products arrive. Oh well, no harm in looking Grin

FrugalFashionista · 06/06/2015 12:05

Baala I am in super sunny Central Italy and so far Biore has been fine on me. I have some hyperpigmentation so want to be extra sure and physicals are like a wall between the sun and my face. Pink Missha is a perfumed fluid so Biore is quicker and easier to apply and smells better. Both are great facial sunscreens.

OP posts:
XiCi · 06/06/2015 12:08

Yes I had a sample of the mishha and it was lovely, really light

FrugalFashionista · 06/06/2015 12:09

XiCi good to know, will keep that on mind, I had the Anthelios cream and ended up binning it after my friend said that it smelled like gorgonzola Wink

OP posts:
XiCi · 06/06/2015 12:27

Haha Frugal another smell I didn't notice, I'm beginning to worry about my sense of smell. Though I am very partial to both gorgonzola and jagermeister, admittedly not slathered all over my face!!

lucysmam · 06/06/2015 12:35

Oh bum, I've had a card shoved through the door because a parcel was too big to go through the letterbox - why the postie didn't knock on next door is beyond me Hmm

My compressed sheet masks are here though...might have a go later on.

lucysmam · 06/06/2015 12:55

I started a reddit thread while we were out, here to see how you tell if a konjac is genuine or not...it appears it is a cheap material anyway so the cheaper ones should still be genuine. So, I'm going to order myself a 99p one on Monday Smile

NewsreaderChic · 06/06/2015 16:13

Two KB parcels arrived today, both from eBay seller iamloveshop who had the good sense to send them in separate parcels so no customs duty to pay. One was the Missha snail repair cream, I have the gel already so am looking forward to trying the cream this evening.

The other was Missha all round safe sun block spf 50 spray. I have the Biore and love it, but I saw this Missha spray in a review as a good option for spraying over make up if your in the sun all day and need a top up. It arrived at the perfect time as I'd just done my morning routine but no make up yet so have tried it out. It sprays well and dried in about five minutes. This afternoon I sprayed it on top of make up, which was great at de-shining me and if today had been sunny (how often does that happen in Manchester) I'd have had the advantage of topped up protection. It's a keeper.

I may have ordered a Konjac sponge too, must stop now, must stop, must stop.

lucysmam · 06/06/2015 16:15

Newsreader, that sounds ideal! Could you link, please? Smile

NewsreaderChic · 06/06/2015 16:25

I can't find the article I read about it, I've read so many recently.

lucysmam · 06/06/2015 16:30

Thank you! I'll do some googling later on before I add to my list.

FrugalFashionista · 06/06/2015 20:17

I'm testing the Etude House Collagen Moistfull trial kit. Cleansed my face, toned with a salicylate pad and patted on some emulsion. Emulsion is half way between fuid and gel-cream, it was packed in a bottle and slightly difficult to get out - when a blob finally landed on my palm, it felt like shampoo, pleasant, a tiny bit sticky but was quickly absorbed. It has a smell of sweet citrus musk, very much like Eau de Tarocco from Diptyque. Etude House Collagen products feel less nourishing and hydrating than my Laneige and Missha products - so probably ideal for normal or oily skin types or for very young women. It is quite hot here right now, so I don't want to put much stuff on my skin - this feels great on my dry skin right now, but normally this would be too lightweight.

Loving the Missha sunscreen spray! Sounds like a clever product!

lucysmam · 06/06/2015 21:59

Well, I did not diy sheet mask tonight - I couldn't make up my mind how much green tea to make, glycerin to use or whether to put the vit c powder in as powder...so I gave up and went for a silk sheet mask instead!

I'm currently looking for something on t'interweb to tell me exactly how much of what to use. And thinking about what might be good combo's.

Hope everyone else is having a fabulous Saturday evening Grin

MrS thank you for the nose.fr recommendation - I've had a few goes with different perfumes I have worn, and liked, in the past. Will definitely be trying their samples next time I have some cash. Not had a new scent for years (unless you count a Primarni one from the girls for my birthday) Smile

flossy101 · 06/06/2015 22:29

Hello, just wondering whether anyone has tried any of the eye creams? Looking for something for dark circles if any recommendations?
