Not sure if I should be starting the new thread as I'm the last poster on the old one - is this how it works?

OP posts:
motherinferior · 08/06/2015 20:14

I know mine tooGrinGrin

Yy to Rudy.

herbaceous · 08/06/2015 20:16

And me. V useful.

TWO HOURS to exercise? That just seems unfeasible to fit into the day ATM.

lalsy · 08/06/2015 20:36

I disagree too, I'm with you Magi and MI - well, huffing and puffing somewhere in your wake by the sound of it! I belong to a gym which is right by a useful high street though, so chores can get done. And I don't bother with the other stuff like moisturising and drying my hair nicely Blush, and showering I'd do anyway.

Poor hamster.

BTM, you can only do so much...

Beachy, I so wish I did, I am sure I have spent ours finding the file where I keep it over my life!

Stropperella · 08/06/2015 21:00

I have known my NI number off by heart since I was 16. I don't know why. I think I was proud of getting it. Or something.
Oh CV :( I blubbed more than dd when our little old furball died. Mind you, I would have blubbed even harder if I had had to pay £84 pounds, rather than just finding him stretched out at the bottom of his cage.
BTM, sorry to hear you are getting stress from both dm and dd today. Hope you can get some rest tonight.
I used to be a very keen swimmer - and I avoid any bikini line issues by having a cozzie with legs (and actually I don't much care anyway, really. am more traumatised by revealing flesh in public), but I really just don't have the time for all the faff now. I have to plan 40 mins dog-walking into my day every day and what with y'know, work and dcs and stuff, I can't afford another 2 hours just for exercise.

bigTillyMint · 08/06/2015 21:25

Actually, DMs ranting was a lot like DDs rages, if a little less screechy but more incohrentGrin

Blackduck · 08/06/2015 21:30

CV sorry about the hamster.
BTM I know how you feel about dmum - dread phoning mine now, although she was on the ball on Sunday.

Work is still rubbish, the incompetency of this beggers belief. For example, We have gone from 5 to 2 on senior management so we have taken cuts too, No you have gone from 5 to 3 and one of the others has been 'rebranded' and another has dropped one role but kept the other, so total salary saving = zilch. Please stop treating us like idiots.
Oh yes the job descriptions are wrong, we will amend the pooled ones in time for interview - so you made redundancy decisions on the basis of out of date job descriptions?!?

Governance, interesting subject :)

magimedi · 08/06/2015 22:26

I am never, ever, ever, going to take up running.

You can put that on my tombstone.

Would be intrigued to know what made you change from swimming to running, MI?

lalsy · 08/06/2015 22:36

Stropps, not sure how you and Herbs have managed to find time to breathe, eat and sleep this year.

BD, that is so rubbish. I hope you have some supportive colleagues to talk to.

I use to say that MagiMedi Smile.
Now I have the zeal of the true running convert... and bore on about it if given half a chance

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/06/2015 23:50

I know my NI number off by heart too. And my bank account numbers and sort codes. But can't remember what I had for lunch. Grin

I am in the "don't care about a few fronds and tuck them in" camp on bikini line. I used to go to a gym in Brussels and was the only person there who didn't have pubic topiary. Was a bit into FKK in my yoof and let it all hang out then. (Literally.)

I need to find exercise I enjoy. I used to like hockey but haven't played for years.

CointreauVersial · 08/06/2015 23:51

Magi - I never so much as ran for a bus until the age of 43, when I had a MN-fueled epiphany and discovered Couch to 5k. It became addictive.

Never been much of a swimmer, though. I can't do the breathing thing, not to mention the hassle factor alluded to earlier.

QueenQueenie · 09/06/2015 00:00

What is this FKK of which you speak Mrs S??

Blackduck · 09/06/2015 05:30

I know my Ni off by heart too ......

Swimming - I like but not good at it and all the faff... Running, hmmm, keeping thinking I should get back into it but it's in the winter I'm not keen

MontserratCaballe · 09/06/2015 07:11

BD, I hope today is better and that your colleagues are being supportive Flowers

Well done, Stropps and Herbs Flowers

CV poor hammy. RIP wee soul. Hope your children are ok. And your poor wallet. £84 is a lot for one so small.

Swimming / running - I love swimming but dislike the hassle factor and the timing. In addition, I can only bear the lane only sessions which are not always at good times. I have completed C25k a couple of times but not stuck with it, so have started yet again. Am on week 4. The first really long run beckons. I could be overtaken (and frequently am!) by anyone walking at a reasonable pace and reckon sometimes I walk faster than I run, but hey. The master plan is that one day I will be able to go out, run at a reasonable pace for 45 minutes then go home done. Lord knows I need it. I tried on some dresses yesterday for this wedding I am going to on Saturday and a couple of them are really straining at the seams. They are (vanity) size 14 so lord alone knows how big I am really. Ouch. What a heifer. I need to get back on the low carb, no booze trail pronto. One of them was a Sainsbury's number and I know they are massively sized. My bottom half is probably busting a 12 but my chest is out of control. Action required!

Talking of dresses, Rose, you looked a total stunner in your red dress on Sunday. What a fantastic rack as well! You clearly don't need to lose more weight and your figure is lovely. Hope you felt as fab as you looked and had a good time.

Right, need to shake a leg and get ready for DD2's ballet exam. It's at the Royal Academy of Dance in Battersea dontcha know. Last time we were there we saw Darcy! Tissues will be served.

whattodoforthebest2 · 09/06/2015 07:12

FKK? I'm hoping it's not a feminist offshoot of the KKK.

I ran three times last week, which has never happened before, although I did ache at the weekend. I keep trying to get enthusiastic about swimming, but I can never breathe properly and only really do front crawl, so I get annoyed with myself.

Sorry to hear about the hamster, CV. To answer your question, I'm in Dorking. Not quite up to a park run yet, but I'd be all kinds of happy if I could ever manage one. In a moment of madness, about 18 months ago, I bought a bike, a shiny, red road bike with drop handlebars. It's pristine. What planet was I on?

OP posts:
hattymattie · 09/06/2015 07:18

Well - I'm off to the gym and I have also started power walking on the running machines in the hope that one day I will actually break into a run. The trouble is I am massively unsupple and I can feel my Achilles Tendon hurting behind my ankle. I hope this can be overcome as I see much older ladies than me jogging down the street.

motherinferior · 09/06/2015 08:30

I switched for a number of reasons, Magi - our pool was getting increasingly inefficient (though massively reorganised now and there is also another pool), half a stone that wouldn't shift, the hassle of driving and parking...and I wanted to see if I could actually run. But given that my knee clearly isn't completely better - v stiff all around it - and also that I was a pretty good swimmer, I think I should at least do a few sessions again. It's also much better thinking time than running for me, and I have to work out some novel stuff.

Though not today given exhausting and pant-threatening period. I think I may still have some freebie liquid iron somewhere and may neck it down.

Best of luck to the ballet girl, Monty. And cheer yourself up next time you're in Gap by trying on the 'boyfriend jeans'. I fitted into a US4/UK8. Shock

bigTillyMint · 09/06/2015 08:35

Good Luck for the ballet exam.

Envy at jeans!

Rosebag · 09/06/2015 08:42

Ah that's sad about the little furry pet, sorry CV. Heavens, but those vets are onto a good thing…£84 …sheesh!

Sorry about work angst both Rudy and BD…hoping to hear from you that it's working out better soon.

Thanks Monty I have to admit, I have attracted a lot of dubious attention (people who haven't posted on FB but just said things.) I'm squirming and feeling a bit of a laughing stock, if I'm really honest. Makes me want to cover up with sack cloth and bind my chest with bandages... Blush Blush Blush

I've never been a runner, and I couldn't start now as I have achilles tendonitis in both ankles but do enjoy swimming. I certainly suffer from the faff factor with it though…my biggest barriers are fat thighs which no swim wear hides and the ever present lady garden removal problem. Chatting with the physio who's treating me at the moment, I was reassured to hear that the amount of walking I do is much more effective that I thought.

Is anyone up for any day time, week day mini meet ups? I am virtually out of work now, until the autumn…Hmm

Rosebag · 09/06/2015 08:44

fingers crossed for Montys DD in her ballet exam.xx

motherinferior · 09/06/2015 09:29

Walking is terrifically good for you. Tomorrow I am going to need to do a fair bit of pounding the streets to get to a music rehearsal. And did in fact pound them a fair bit over the weekend.

In S&B news, in my quest to find a facial sunscreen that is neither orange nor chalky I'm trying the Soltan BB cream (ie tinted sunscreen - I note LRP is repackaging its tinted sunscreen as a BB cream too). It's rather good so far.

lalsy · 09/06/2015 11:05

Rose, how rude that people commented. I thought you looked fab in your dress, nowt to do with boobage.

Yeah, walking has the major advantage that you can talk while you do it - unlike most exercise. I can only do head out of the water breast-stroke, very slowly, so not really exercise but good for thinking as you say, MI. And anger management and achey bits n bobs.

bigTillyMint · 09/06/2015 11:11

Rose, they are just jealous. You looked great - they are probably wishing they could carry a dress like that off. Don't let their comments put you off wearing what you want.

I do a bit of walking and it is great for talking as you do it!

I would love to meet up in the daytime, but sadly no chance of that in my job!

NUFC69 · 09/06/2015 12:21

Fear not, fellow Crepeys, after the menopause and with hypothyroidism I have not had a lady garden for years (nor under arms, and only a little leg hair) - it's all sprouting on my chin and upper lip instead. Hmm

I enjoy swimming, although I am very slow. The pool is two minutes away and I do 30 lengths when I go.

Sorry to hear about the hamster. We still haven't buried Nucat's ashes so really must do that now the weather has improved and we can actually dig in the garden.

DGS1 wants to engage in competitive baking - cheese scones are the first venture. Grin
