I totally love it and it looks amazing. Dd and dm have laughed me out of the shop though

Sorry Shadows - crossed you.Grin Some people could do DMs and fishnets - but it might look like fancy dress if it's not one's habitual costume.

SouthWestmom · 31/05/2015 15:07

Dh has agreed to buy it for my birthday but had added 'it's just not a natural thing to wear. A cape.'

See I used to be sooooo cooooool. I used to be all clubby and vintage and funky and now I'm an old lady with four children.

Tbf Noeuf I'm 24 so I'm probably still in my youth Grin
I have a lovely friend in her 40s who still rocks DMs and vintagey stuff, age is just a number etc. I'm glad you are buying it though. Don't listen to all the "ghastly, darling" comments!

You will look fabulous, never take fashion advice from your husband and mother Smile

Unless you're as young, Skinny and pretty as the model in the picture, step away from the dress.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/05/2015 15:54

When I was 19 I used to wear a floor length black velvet cape. I miss it so much, but at 45 and a stone and a half heavier, I'd look v silly.

SouthWestmom · 31/05/2015 16:43

Oh Remus. Those were the days. I feel sorry for dd and her mates, all matchy matchy.
I need to run out and buy a vintage cocktail dress, some DMs and henna. And roll back the years.

It's a yes from me :)

Dismalfuckers · 31/05/2015 17:16

I've bought the DMs at 45. They are purple and lovely.

Loved the Scottish Widows ad too. I had a floaty golden cloak with a hood for my wedding.

SouthWestmom · 31/05/2015 18:36

Mwah ha ha ha ha (caped evil laughter)
Dh just ordered it for my birthday and got 25% off. I shall insist on inviting dd and dm out for the evening. If we walk into danger I shall be prepared.
Worryingly dh also suggested accessories.

I think it is great.

Toomsny people dress boring and safe

On an 18yr old it would look silly. It needs someone with the right gravitas and panache to carry it off.
