Help me find a gorgeous summer holiday perfume for 2015...

Last summer I wore Laura Mercier and it takes me back to our lovely holiday every time I smell it. I'm looking for a new fragrance for this summer, feminine with good lasting power, and would love some ideas. I wear Chanel chance eau fraiche every day. X

Last week in Greece I had to run after a lady and ask what perfume she was wearing as it smelt wonderful - holidayish if that makes sense.

Turns out it was Bronze Goddess by Estee Lauder. I am not normally an EL fan but will be visiting a department store tomorrow to check it out. It could be that it just smelt good on a fab beachside terrace...

Chicinwellies · 28/05/2015 20:54

Haha I wish I ran after more ladies to ask them, well done u. I'll give it a spray!

Definitely Bronze Godess. It smells of summer!

BaconAndAvocado · 28/05/2015 21:35

Armani Aqua di Gio is very fresh, reminiscent of the sea and long lasting.

Instituteofstudies · 28/05/2015 21:40

Another vote for Bronze Goddess here. I was buying foundation and just had to ask the girl on the counter what she was wearing. I've been wearing in through the winter too but it definitely is a summer scent. Definitely recommend you give it a squish and also to wait to see how it develops.

sashNmax · 28/05/2015 21:45

My absolute favourites

Armani diamonds - Everytime I smell this, I fall in love. With everything. Its just so sweet and I just love it and love it and love it some more. It reminds me of a romantic holiday to Poland at Christmas with my boyfriend and it was awesome.

GHOST- not sure who its by but I know its cheaper than Armani. Its in a purple crescent moon shaped bottle. Again totally lush. I wear it everyday and some friends prefer it to the diamonds.

I came on to this thread just to say Bronzed Goddess. Terrible name, wonderful perfume. It makes me want to eat myself.

How wrong does that sound, exactly?

CaurnieBred · 28/05/2015 21:57

Huh! The only scent I can wear when I am on holiday is Eau du Autan/Jungle Formula! Envy

Carpaccio · 28/05/2015 21:58

Guerlain Terracotta. It is limited edition for summer as far as I am aware. It is absolutely amazing - smells of summer and holiday.

There's also the Nuxe perfume, which smells like the oil. It doesn't last as long on the skin as Terracotta, but it is nice.

Some of the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria are also very nice. I especially like the limon verde version. It smells of freshly cut limes.

Chardonnay73 · 28/05/2015 22:01

Bronze Goddess -plus you can wear it whilst sunbathing and no allergic reactions etc, but stock up, it's limited edition and only available from May -Sept Grin

Chicinwellies · 28/05/2015 22:04

Ooh, a strong favourite then, (off to Boots tomorrow to douse myself, not sure about eating myself LondonHuffyPuffy but never say never)...

Going against the flow here, but Hermes Un jardin sur le nil smells like summer to me... Fresh yet complex.

mrscynical · 28/05/2015 22:59

Oh CaurnieBred don't use Jungle Formula. I once doused myself and put the container on the radiator in the room. When I got back from the beach (radiator not on, boiling hot in Corfu btw) the bottle had slightly leaked and it had taken the paint off. I was putting this stuff on my skin!!

Sash - Ghost is from the clothing company of the same name. However, it used to do lovely clothes under designer Tanya Sarne but has gone a bit frumpy/weird in the last few years. Sarne set up Handwritten, again using mainly viscose, which is great for evening holiday wear as you can roll it up, hang it up and it does not need ironing. I think Handwritten is sold through John Lewis now but it is pricey. You can sometimes find the odd nice thing on the Ghost website or get older second hand stuff on e-Bay.

Chic - I often chase other women when I see (or smell) something great they are wearing. I see more fab stuff on women than I do in stores!

Petal02 · 28/05/2015 23:00

Another vote for Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess. Ibiza in a bottle!

zipzap · 28/05/2015 23:04

Hermes do a nice orangey one that's called Elixir des Merveilles. Works well in summer when it's fresh and orange-y and a blast of sea salt freshness but bizarrely also works as a rich winter perfume too.

Roger et Gallet also do a nice summer one that when you spray it on has a hint of gold dust that it sprinkles on you... again it seems to be orange based. can't remember its name but they had it in M&S!

Misslgl88 · 29/05/2015 14:20

I actually really like elie Saab resort collection (it's new in a blue bottle) it ella like coconut and so beachy to me it's beautiful

mrssnodge · 29/05/2015 14:35

Last year in Spain I bought Oh Bella by Mandirina Duck, Gorgeous summer scent- dont think you can get it in UK tho-

cressetmama · 29/05/2015 16:41

If you like Chanel Chance, and you have access to a good perfumery counter, try Creed Aque Fiorentina. I like Elixir des Merveilles too.

canny1234 · 29/05/2015 17:04

Last year my summer holiday perfume buy was Hermes Pamplemousse Rose - a delicious fresh grapefruity Rose.I also purchased some samples of James Heeleys Verveine d'eugenie and coccobello to take on holiday with me.Verveine is fresh verbena and rhubarb while Coccobello is coconutty and fresh.

Apatite1 · 29/05/2015 17:52

Bronze goddess hands down. I get asked about this one helluvalot.

Madbengalmum · 29/05/2015 18:49

I MUST get some bronze goddess

FrugalFashionista · 29/05/2015 18:55

I like Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse and quite a few Aqua Allegorias. Teazzurra this year is a nice green tea perfume. Other summer scents that I like are Eau du Sud (herby), Chanel 1932 (elegant barely there jasmine-sandalwood) and Hawaiian dimestore jasmine and plumeria rollerballs layered with Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen.

EL Bronze Goddess and Malle Lys Mediterranee and Jardins perfumes from Hermes get honorable mentions too.

itsnothingoriginal · 29/05/2015 19:16

M&S have a good range of 'summer' perfumes - love the Fragonard, Shay and Blue and some of the Per Una limited edition ones too. I've just bought Bird of Paradise which isn't a new one but lovely peachy light florals for summer. They do 25ml size which is great as just enough for one season!

Damn you MN S&B I will be trying Bronze Goddess now and I really don't need any more perfume... Grin

MissBattleaxe · 29/05/2015 20:37

YY to Fragonard- you can buy a mini box of 3 for holidays and they are incredible long lasting.

Personally I like O de Lancome and Chanel Cristalle in summer, although Yardley Jade smells exactly like Cristalle but only costs £11.

YY also to Hermes un Jardin range- I like Un Jardin Mediterranee- that touch of fig works so well in the sun.

OttiliaVonBCup · 29/05/2015 21:08

Don't.
Everybody and their uncle's dog will smell of Bronze Goddess.

Get Nuxe to Terracotta or something.
