Would you help me find shoes please?

I'm going to a wedding. This will be the first as a bona fide, this-is-it-for-us couple in front of my DP's pals. We got engaged and this is the first public show, although obviously it's not going to be made an issue of.

I'm at least 6 years older than them. And 12 years older than the bride. I know this is not important at all and no-one will be looking at me, however, for the first time ever I want to go and look put together, and everything be right. Usually I'm a heeled-docs-and-charity-shop-rose person. But I have bought a nice dress which I can't afford and have a nice bag and I can't find the right shoes. Or fascinator come to that.

I've picked two, some navy blue clarks wedge peeptoe slingbacks, because I could wear them for work afterwards, and, y'know, for £50 I haven't got, I need to make them work for the money. But I can't help think that wedges are not enough for this dress.

So I found these Office asymmetric nude courts, which I like, but I'll never wear again. Can't walk to work in them, heels'll be destroyed.

If anyone's in the mood to find me leather mid heel shoes that'll do this dress justice and that I can walk to work in 10 mins each way afterwards for around £50 I'll be eternally grateful.

Or just come down on the side of either of my picks because it's next Saturday and I really need to get something!

Would you help me find shoes please?

Shoeaholics?. Fast delivery and good brands. You'd spend less than £50 and there's usually a discount code on the Internet and they do free returns.

MrsGuyGarvey · 23/05/2015 07:57

Can I ask how old you are? I'd steer clear of a fascinator they''ve had their day.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/05/2015 07:58

I'd go for pale blue shoes btw. Stylish but not try hard or too girly and wearable in the summer for work.

Kleptronic · 23/05/2015 08:56

No fascinator? But I've never worn one! Bastard. 39.

I love hats and fascinatiors. Wear one if you like.

Kleptronic · 23/05/2015 09:15

I like the pale blue thing but the bag's a quite shouty green. They don't have to be matchy-matchy I know, but in hue they's be standing on opposite sides of the room, backs to each other...or do I mean brightness.

I am so overthinking this.

Great dress (am also a DM and chsrity shop rose, early 40s).

But the navy Clark's are a bit frumpy. The Office ones are good, but I agree that shoes you'll only wear once are not a great investment. But they are so neutral in style and colour they would go with pretty much anything in years to come.

BikeRunSki · 23/05/2015 09:29

Classic style navy cheap!

Kleptronic · 23/05/2015 09:47

Ah thanks for that Bike, I was starting to wonder about the dress even, 'cos no one had commented!

I'm not feeling those Clarks, too far over the border into granny chic for me. Cheers for looking though!

Have a look at Irregular Choice shoes - more than £50 to be sure, but I think you'll love them and if you're spending money you fon't have anyway...

Kleptronic · 23/05/2015 10:12

I have seen these irregular choice, not sure if they'd be competing too much with the dress though!

I love those Irregular Choice ones. Not sure with the dress though. Love the dress too.

Are these heels too high?

Midlandsmom · 23/05/2015 10:36

It is a lovely dress!

How about these Next sandals? www.next.co.uk/g4d220s12#907212g30

Or these court shoes? www.next.co.uk/g4d216s3#906827g30

Or these: www.next.co.uk/x5d2332s6#988216x55

Kleptronic · 23/05/2015 10:37

Sadly I can't wear anything but leather Shades, instant lacerations otherwise, I have exceptionally tender skin due to all the sock-and-boot wearing!

Midlandsmom · 23/05/2015 10:46

Sorry, didn't spot that! x

TheFairyCaravan · 23/05/2015 10:47

These are leather from Next.

Kleptronic · 23/05/2015 10:47

What about these? Too ditzy?

OP posts:
TheFairyCaravan · 23/05/2015 10:49

These look nice and are suede.

everythingsgoingsouth · 23/05/2015 10:56

Kleptronic- love those Irregular choice ones, so cute,( but they aren't leather either...)

Kleptronic · 23/05/2015 11:02

They are! They are! It says so! Cream leather! And fabric. I can do fabric. Just not synthetic.

Look!

Oh I like those Next leather courts Fairy, they'd earn their keep for sure, and very classic, thanks.

I love those cream ones Kleptronic!

Kleptronic · 23/05/2015 11:31

Yeah I do too chubby. I really love them. I need to step away from those they are sending me giddy.

OP posts:
polyhymnia · 23/05/2015 11:51

Love the dress. Bold print but classy and gorgeous colours.
Don't think cream will look right as there is white in the dress. Also think they're too fussy for the dress. Plain navy courts are a bit boring OTOH.

I can't find the link the bag you're taking. But wondered about a silver or pewter 'neutral' shade for shoes.

Sandals could be nice but I find that means bare legs instead of nude tights - which you may prefer anyway - and also extra investment in a pedicure.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 23/05/2015 11:57

Wear a fascinator, I like them
