Would you help me find shoes please?

I'm going to a wedding. This will be the first as a bona fide, this-is-it-for-us couple in front of my DP's pals. We got engaged and this is the first public show, although obviously it's not going to be made an issue of.

I'm at least 6 years older than them. And 12 years older than the bride. I know this is not important at all and no-one will be looking at me, however, for the first time ever I want to go and look put together, and everything be right. Usually I'm a heeled-docs-and-charity-shop-rose person. But I have bought a nice dress which I can't afford and have a nice bag and I can't find the right shoes. Or fascinator come to that.

I've picked two, some navy blue clarks wedge peeptoe slingbacks, because I could wear them for work afterwards, and, y'know, for £50 I haven't got, I need to make them work for the money. But I can't help think that wedges are not enough for this dress.

So I found these Office asymmetric nude courts, which I like, but I'll never wear again. Can't walk to work in them, heels'll be destroyed.

If anyone's in the mood to find me leather mid heel shoes that'll do this dress justice and that I can walk to work in 10 mins each way afterwards for around £50 I'll be eternally grateful.

Or just come down on the side of either of my picks because it's next Saturday and I really need to get something!

Would you help me find shoes please?

Well I've been to TKMaxx, Marksies and Next. Marksies had nice pale blue sandals but with a wood effect heel so too casual. TK was a jumbke sale. The Next navy blue courts aren't finished off well, you can see the inner lining poking out slightly when the shoe's on.

Tomorrow I'm going to bite the bullet and brave Cheshire Oaks. If no joy there I think I'll default to the Office nudes.

I am going to get a fascinator. I've never had one so I WANT one.

Cheers for all your help everyone Smile

What's your hair like, and what is your budget for head gear? I think with that dress either a small hair clip or a proper hat would be more chic than a fascinator

Shoulder length foils blonde with lilac and blue pastel toner streaks. It will be smooth around my head with flicky little curls at the ends, a bit 50s.

I was thinking of this clip.

At this point I reckon I'd go so far as to lash £30 on headgear.

Hmmm, I think that sort of clip is very middle aged, sorry

If you are going to wear something on your head (and I think you shod because I love hats!), you should have the courage to either do it properly with something a bit more substantial or....

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 24/05/2015 02:14

...something small but dressy

Just my personal opinion, mind Smile

I hear you Closer, and that is a beautiful hat, thanks!

I don't think the office courts go with the dress... sorry . You have white in the dress and the cream won't look right... The next leather courts are good, but the best ones are the blue irregular choice..
Do you think you could cope with satin shoes? here and and here not too high a heel
or these debenhams ones which are from the flexi range for a bit of comfort?

Kleptronic · 26/05/2015 11:31

Thanks all. I've ordered these today, I'm thinking the texture will be a nice contrast with the satin, and they're leather lined so my poor hoofs should be ok. Still might go to outlet on thurs though. Have looked to much!
