Trainers for a city break

yazzy85 · 20/05/2015 16:58

Recommend me some trainers to take away for a weekend city break. Converse are too narrow and Superga not quite supportive enough and a bit heavy. Please help Confused

Sketchers

vindscreenviper · 20/05/2015 17:09

Not really trainers but I find Keds quite supportive, some nice colours and patterns in the suede version.

sleepwhenidie · 20/05/2015 17:10

New Balance

Whathaveilost · 20/05/2015 17:14

I wear either Puma Suede or Ash Genial, ok, Ash are not trainers but im on my 3rd pair and wear them nearly, if not every day at some point and have walked miles and miles around, London, Krakow, Birmingham ,Liverpool , Manchester and Tallin in them.
Bothe these shoes are so comfortable.

Nike Air max - link at bottom of my thread here asking a similar question to yours. You may find some other stuff on there you like.

skechers go walk sound like theyd be perfect for this.

Tanaqui · 20/05/2015 17:52

Fitflop sneakers are v v supportive.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/05/2015 17:53

I think I am going to buy some Nike ones. I looked at the Skechers after they were recommended on here, but (sorry to everybody who likes them) thought they were (imvho) too hideous to even try on - and very expensive for something that didn't look terribly well made.

DidgeDoolittle · 20/05/2015 17:54

Sketchers Go Walk. The most comfortable trainers/shoes ever.

everythingsgoingsouth · 20/05/2015 17:55

any you like- but get a pair of GEL insoles, pure bliss!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/05/2015 17:56

Everything - could you please link to the specific insoles you mean? Have been trying to buy some but keep getting overwhelmed by choice!

yazzy85 · 20/05/2015 18:02

Thanks for the suggestions and links to the other thread. The Skechers although maybe the most comfortable they don't look the most stylish. If I can find something that can be worn casually afterwards too, that would be the best!

I like the look of the Puma Suede and Nikes - which Nikes do you recommend? Remus which Nikes are you getting?

Hi, I got my insoles from sport direct, so am pretty sure you could buy them online if no store nearby. they are full sole-shaped, and purple ! about a fiver I think.
will have a look and come back with a link if I can find the exact ones :)

everythingsgoingsouth · 20/05/2015 18:30

these are the ones I have, sorry, £7, not a fiver .

southeastastra · 20/05/2015 18:31

adidas gazells

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/05/2015 18:42

Thanks, Everything.

Yazzy - whatever I can find, if they are cheap and black. Grin

gonegrey56 · 20/05/2015 18:53

New Balance 420s. Light but oh so comfortable - have just worn them non stop on holiday in Italy and still felt quite chic (? Deluded maybe ...)

yazzy85 · 20/05/2015 19:14

everythingsgoingsouth thanks for the link, they look really comfy!!

i must admit i havent actually invested in any go walks because of the style. really really want some but theyre just not very nice to look at.

the skechers memory foam trainers are a bit more fashionable may be worth a look.

YonicScrewdriver · 20/05/2015 19:25

Merrells. Not smart, though.

gingerbreadmam · 20/05/2015 19:26

ooh went off to check out new balance trainers as i see loads of people wearing them and was fancying some myself, asos has a huge range:

new balance

SwedishEdith · 20/05/2015 19:31

I wouldn't say Puma Suede. I wear them for knocking about at home etc but for heavy duty city walking, I'd want more support. Ditto Adidas Gazelles.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/05/2015 19:32

I tried New Balance but the huge N put me off.

SwedishEdith · 20/05/2015 19:35

Yes, that's what puts me off them as well. Otherwise, the perfect shape.
