Interesting Summer Work Dress

lurkingmurking · 13/05/2015 17:21

I am going out to NYC in June for a 3 day workshop and need some good dresses. I am a wobbly size 12, pale with reddy/blonde hair and green eyes. Legs are ok but will probably wear sheer tights and definitely nothing too short.

Any ideas? I'll be sitting in a hot conference room all day so nothing too tight or restrictive.

So far I like Cos1
Cos2
too hot?

nice colour

I like all of them (esp the cotton tunic one as it has pockets!)

Are you sure the conference room will be hot? You might want a scarf / pashmina with you in case you end up sitting under an air con vent and have a draft on your neck

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/05/2015 18:48

No to the too hot one.

LOVE the black wrap one - my favourite by far. I wish Cos dresses weren't ridiculously too long on me, because it's gorgeous.

Pantsalive · 13/05/2015 19:10

Someone on another thread bought a dress from here. I thought they had some interesting things and good prices.

Pantsalive · 13/05/2015 19:13

You might need to look beyond the models' very miserable faces.

tiredwitless · 13/05/2015 19:13

the first one is lovely. I would imagine there would be air
conditioning in a conference room in NYC.

Duckdeamon · 13/05/2015 19:38

Won't there be fierce air con?

BikeRunSki · 13/05/2015 19:42

I love Cos2

NightsOfGethsemane · 13/05/2015 19:46

I love the second one but do take a pashmina or cardi with you because although it will be boiling in the taxi en route, the air conditioning in the conference centre is likely to be Arctic!

TheFallenMadonna · 13/05/2015 20:00

Ooh Remus- are Cos dresses long? Are they long bodied? Because otherwise I cannot do a wrap...

Bearleigh · 13/05/2015 20:06

How about this:

I have another dress by thei brand and it's lovely.

Bearleigh · 13/05/2015 20:08

I have this and have had so many compliments when I war it (without the leggings):

How about this one (has pockets too, though you can't really see them in the pic:

lurkingmurking · 13/05/2015 21:39

Amazing thanks! Good point about air con. The rest of the office is boiling though and we'll be having drinks etc after work.

I really like that John Lewis one.

I love your first one. I really don't like the second one - I think it looks like a nurse's uniform and I think the third one is lovely but too hot.

BadgersArse · 14/05/2015 07:41

Hate all cos apart from the print one

sorry the wrap one remus - RILLY?! Grin

lurkingmurking · 14/05/2015 09:06

Yes I think the second Cos one will definitely have to be tried on. I prefer the blue to the black. It is rather nursey isn't it?

The monsoon prints are a bit 'aztec' though I do like the shapes.

How about these?

this could be good with the right jewellery

I really like your first Cos dress.

I know there's a bit of love going on for the Cos wrap dress. I tried it on. I know I'm hippy (as in large of hip not happy clappy) but it was truly sad on me. Close to hideous.

tethersend · 14/05/2015 11:17

I thought of that site too, pantsalive- I like this.

tethersend · 14/05/2015 11:23

Have a look at other stories too:

I quite like this but maybe not worky enough.
