almost forgot...I clicked one of your sheet mask links Frugal, it's jumped from about £2.99 to £102 Shock Confused

lucysmam · 19/05/2015 17:23

Do any of you use benton aloe bha skin toner ?

I think this is the one I'm going to try. There are several sample options for between £2 and £4 on ebay so I can try before committing £9 to a bottle.

As for a hydrating one...that is still a work in progress Grin

FrugalFashionista · 19/05/2015 19:08

lucysmam you need to be careful with that one, I happened to see this yesterday!

DC fed, homework done, DD2 ready to go to bed

Who was it who recommended the clearasil pads from the 99p shop? m0gz, I think it was you. What 'flavour' are they so I can look them up, please Smile

lucysmam · 19/05/2015 19:11

grrrr, thanks Frugal I've spent a good while researching that one too & didn't see that Confused I'll carry on looking.

TheWombat · 19/05/2015 20:54

This thread is my happy place! So exciting to hear about parcels arriving and mini product reviews. lucysmam I was really interested in Benton products too but have also read some issues to do with things growing in them - it seems that quality control is a bit of an issue because of the organic ingredients / lack of preservatives etc. which is a massive shame because the snail bee essence sounds awesome.

I am racking up an almighty wish list! Tbh have had a pretty terrible day - had to cancel our holiday tomorrow, because we just found out have been diagnosed with malignant melanoma. Can't believe I'm actually writing that down Sad Luckily it has been caught at an early stage so am hopeful that it won't need too much treatment beyond surgery - but scary all the same.

Sorry, I really don't want to derail the thread - it's such a pleasurable and happy one. But please everyone stock up on the SPF 50! I'm very olive skinned, and it's happened to me...

Anyway, cushions! Frugal do let us know what it's like! Has anyone else tried one? Am v tempted by the Laneige water sleeping pack tonight. And the Scinic propolis serum. What is n everyone else's shopping basket?

FrugalFashionista · 19/05/2015 21:34

Wombat oh I am so sorry to hear this Sad - have never been in that position can only imagine how upsetting this must feel for you and your family!!! But they found it, you are dealing with it, it is getting sorted out quickly - hoping for the very best! And also that you can get a new vacation when all the urgent things are taken care of.

I actually found some of the Asian stuff via a blogger / activist who also has melanoma and is doing well now - no need to read it if you'd rather not but her blog is here.

Clearasil pads in the 99p shop are the fruit ones. They stung like mad at first but I like them and I don't think they have made my skin any drier etc.

So sorry to hear your news TheWombat. Its good that its been caught early, I can only imagine how scary such a diagnosis is :( I have to admit that sunscreen is a fairly new thing for me and only since having DC. Nursery were so strict about it but I can recall numerous occasions growing up when my parents didn't bat an eyelid about us getting burnt.

Dh came home with more coppertone for me tonight. Technically, that counts as a purchase by him so I have popped on here to see what everyone else is buying before I sneak a quick eBay purchase in Grin

I couldn't wait to wash my face earlier and put the snail gel on. I had a bit of peeling as I used tretinoin last night and the snail gel seems to have soothed those areas but at the same time I feel like I could with a bit of moisturiser or something on. Is this when I should be applying one of the masks? Can you multi task with a sheet mask on? I normally crochet browse patterns and mn in the evenings and wondered if I would have to tilt my head at a funny angle to stop it slipping off!

bigbuttons · 19/05/2015 21:51

thewombat hugs to you lovely. Excellent that it has been caught early. I'm really glad that you have this thread as a happy place and a distraction xx

lucysmam · 19/05/2015 22:01

Wombat I can only echo the others in saying that it is good it has been caught early. Wishing you all the best with your treatment Thanks

lucysmam · 19/05/2015 22:04

Thank you m0gz, I'll take a look.

I've done some more digging about the Benton products and found a few articles about contaminated products, one here so am now going to look for an alternative.

It's a shame because it does/did sound good but I don't have the cash to risk a product that might be contaminated with mould (or anything really). At least if I buy something with some sort of preservatives in, and it doesn't work for me, I can offer it to my sister to try.

TheWombat · 19/05/2015 22:13

Thanks everyone - it has been a bit of a rubbish day but am happy to immerse myself in talk of pig collagen Hmm and placenta! Thank you frugal for the blog link - I am a massive blog reader and hadn't thought to look up melanoma survivor blogs, so that's a great idea for tomorrow.

I suspect some retail therapy might be in order tonight!

lucysmam · 19/05/2015 22:18

m0gz with the sheet mask, sort of try to keep your head up ...mine slipped a bit the other night (probably 'cos I kept looking up at the telly then back to my phone) & I ended up with one eye half covered but was tooo lazy to fix it Grin

Wombat retail therapy always perks me up a bit. What do you fancy? Smile

GingerbreadBaubles · 19/05/2015 22:42

Ok, I'm in Japan what should I grab, looking for Tatcha but don't think I'll find it here. Bio essence another great brand (if I can find it!)

FrugalFashionista · 19/05/2015 22:42

Re what's in your shopping basket, I am now waiting for the replacement of the mixup in my Missha order - got to keep the eye serum, receiving a complimentary Water-Full serum (my fave!) and also slipped a small travel size of the Missha First Treatment Essence in my basket. And the BB cushion! We are facing a stressful relocation this summer, basically totally uprooting ourselves, and the Missha box feels like a talisman...

OP posts:
lucysmam · 19/05/2015 22:44

Where are you relocating from-to Frugal.

I am being good I only have cheap compressed sheet masks and green tea powder in my ebay basket at the mo. This may change by the end of the week depending on spare cash Wink

My wishlist otoh...is getting looong Grin

lucysmam · 19/05/2015 22:45

there should have been a '?' in there Hmm

lucysmam · 19/05/2015 22:53

Urgh, I have no idea where to go next with my hunt for an exfoliating toner Confused

TheWombat · 19/05/2015 23:02

Ooh lucky Gingerbread! A lot of the blogs (and people on here) rave about Hada Labo lotion - has hyaluronic acid in it. There's a standard version and a 'whitening' one which is supposed to reduce pigmentation. Keep an eye out Wink

FrugalFashionista · 20/05/2015 06:33

Gingerbread lucky you! This ITG story was one of the reasons why I became interested in Asian Beauty! And do buy Hada Labo lotion and Biore Watery Essence sunscreen - buying them here involves a lot of waiting Wink

Help! My skin routine has thrown up a problem.
My skin is definitely a lot paler than it was before I started the whole routine. The Asian girls would be proud of me! However, this has kind of accentuated my dark under eye circles. I am also very tired.
So rather than looking all healthy and glowy I have lovely smooth skin, reduced wrinkles and look like Bela Lugosi .
I do have a Mac concealer and corrector ( expensive) but they don't really cover the panda eyes. Can anyone recommend an Asian under eye circle cover?
Ta x

FrugalFashionista · 20/05/2015 07:13

Bigbuttons sending you lots of uninterrupted sleep!

I have very dark circles, DD2 has them too so it is to do with bone structure, and I find putting in something yellow with a concealer brush (currently using old dimestore correctors, Physician's Formula, and an old liquid foundation that is too yellow) as a first layer, then bb cream or liquid foundation or regular concealer on top cancels them out quite well. I've looked into Missha concealers but unfortunately have to use up about five other products first so no going there anytime soon...

Stacey Nishimoto on ITG had a dark circle tutorial this weekend.
