I won't give away too much but im quite young, brunette, not tall (between 5'1" and 5'4"), bigger than a 14. My DH says he will buy me a new outfit to go to boost my confidence Please help me!

Thank You lovely stylists!

Find something you'll be comfortable in. Probably trousers so when you start dancing on the tables we won't see your thong.

Rhubarb · 05/11/2006 16:48

Jeans!

CozICantGoNekkid · 05/11/2006 16:51

Jeans? Really? I thought everyone on MN was frightfully well dressed and stylish. Jeans?

Well, if DH is buying, check out www.monsoon.co.uk

FrannyonFire · 05/11/2006 17:08

Oh yes, Monsoon

Wear a dress and some heels, go on

crunchie · 05/11/2006 17:09

Well if the offer of a free outfit was on the table I would deffo check out Monsoon

I am going and I am thinking that I must start thinking out it IYKWIM

Aparently jeans with a smart/glittery top is starting to be on the wane fashion wise (according to the Observer woman we should start making an effort) therefore I am in a dilemma TBH.

I quite fancy wearing my dorothy shoes (red sparkly sequins) so I could go the whole hog and do the full swishy skirt with tehm and be v glam. Or I wcould wear them with skinny jeans and a cool belt.

So I have been no use really. I haven't really decided myself!!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/11/2006 17:10

Ahem...there will lots of us there that are size 14 +

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/11/2006 17:11

Crunchie - there is a rather stunning red dress in monsoon that would go with your shoes.....

I tried it on, but alas, I looked like a red sack of spuds in it.....

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/11/2006 17:12

this one crunchie

southeastastra · 05/11/2006 17:13

do people really dress up that much?? i'm scared now..

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/11/2006 17:15

cap sleeps good if you have rounded shoulders and the pattern hides a multitude of things.

crunchie · 05/11/2006 17:16

VVV that's a bit much but I do like this that MrsBadger suggested on another thread

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/11/2006 17:16

SEA - its up to you how you want to dress - whatever makes you feel comfortable.

But dresses dont necessarily have to be sparkly spaghetti strap affairs.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/11/2006 17:17

Oh i LOVE that one crunchie. I recommended it to Boris

SaintGeorge · 05/11/2006 17:17

I can't afford a new outfit and have a very limited wardrobe. I am down to a choice of 2 dresses, black trousers (not keen, bit too big on me) or jeans.

VQ be warned - I may yet turn up at yours with all options and make you choose for me.

crunchie · 05/11/2006 17:17

southeastra there is a real mixture, last year I wore black velvet jeans, black vest and little grren shrug, most people wore jeans and nice tops or trs. I wouldn't say they were THAT dressed up TBH

UlySCREAMS · 05/11/2006 17:18

I'm wearing strapless glitzy top with trousers I think? Not sure, either them or long black skirt?

I think jeans are ok too though. Wear something you're comfy in but makes you feel good.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/11/2006 17:20

I have one similar to this but black and white flower pattern

Ulysees · 05/11/2006 17:21

Oh and I won't be Ulyscreams but back to Ulysees

Accesories are good if you want to jazz up stuff you already have. I go to scope for beads and earrings at £1 a piece and they're new!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/11/2006 17:21

Thats fine St G, as long as you dont mind a fashion parade in front of me and my lot

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/11/2006 17:22

OOOH YES! Accessories make all the difference.

Ulysees · 05/11/2006 17:23

VVQV that red dress is stunning!

SaintGeorge · 05/11/2006 17:44

OK, opinions on my meagre choice please.

Deep red , button through, tie waist, mid-calf length.

Jade green , figure hugging, knee length (and rides up!)

Crappy photos but you can get the gist.

Or shall I just go for the jeans option?

Ulysees · 05/11/2006 17:47

What is your colouring SG? I like both but the green is very nice IMO.
