A colleague said this at work today, I was so chuffed.
I'm 47 and was looking not so good. This last month I have invested in serums, acids and what not have gone back to Caroline Hirons properly this time. I have been religiously cleaning and tending to my face AM and PM. I use a 30% glycol peel every couple of weeks and use tretinoin every 3 days.
I must say even I have noticed a difference, it has knocked years off me.
All blemishes gone, skin is ultra smooth, wrinkles reduced.
There is hope for us more (ahem) mature ladies!

Yes we are lucky.
Caroline, we need a top 10 eye creams blog when you're ready, well I do anyway!

Ooh Caroline! Hello! I'm a big big fan, you are hilarious. I know you don't do loads of sponsored posts but I hope you make some decent cash from the blog, you deserve it!

Gushing aside Blush my question is about adding a retinol in at nighttime. I'm using Skinceuticals 0.3%. Quite pleased so far but looking forward to trying the 1%.
Is it ok to put on straight after my acid toner?
Is there a moisturiser you'd recommend for after the retinol? I'm currently waiting a bit after applying then using a decleor balm.

Ok that's two questions. Thank you!!

Does boots sell any acid toners please?

stevienickstophat · 18/04/2015 17:12

You would not believe what I just spent in Boots Shock

Kennington:
SPF - have you tried Anthelios from boots?

carolinehirons · 18/04/2015 17:29

Hi 14575:

Not really. OOH I LIE. Clarins Exfoliating Toning lotion and Clinique Mild Clarifying lotion - ONLY THE MILD - Clarins is suitable for every second night or so (or day) and Clinique can be used every day - it's only salicylic acid so is better if you are spotty. Hope it helps. And hope you can see this - I am SO bad at techy forum stuff. I know I know. DUH.

stevienickstophat · 18/04/2015 17:30

I can't write it down, Back2Two

I just hope it works. Farking nora.

stevienickstophat · 18/04/2015 17:33

I bought a lot of La Roche Posay stuff (two cleansers, serum, retinol, spf, eye cream) Mild Clarifying Lotion by Clinique, a No.7 glycolic peel kit.

Oh and some La Roche Posay oil, too.

I think I got carried away Blush

carolinehirons · 18/04/2015 17:35

back2Two - No those cleansers can be too drying. Try a milk cleanser instead. And yes the water down south - especially in London is hard as a brick - when I'm at Mum's up north everything is so much easier/nicer!
Depending on your budget try a milk cleanser - even a Clarins Gentian or Una Brennan - both Boots. The Una Brennan Rose Oil is great for EMU removal. xxx

carolinehirons · 18/04/2015 17:37

Untamed Shrew:
If you're happy with the 0.3%, move to the 0.5% next. Yes you can apply straight after cleansing and toning, preferably on a dry skin. So in the evening only acid tone, don't spritz if you are using retinols. And I love Decleor balms, but they may be too heavy and impede on the retinol so stick to just a light hydrating moisturiser. xx

almondcakes · 18/04/2015 17:45

Hello Caroline.

I was considering buying the Bravura toner that is 13% AHA (mostly glycolic). Do you have an opinion on Bravura toners?

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 18/04/2015 17:46

bigbuttons - I think Caroline did a YouTube video on her fave eyecreams last year? It's worth a look.

carolinehirons · 18/04/2015 17:51

Hi Almond cakes. yes. I like them. :) xx

carolinehirons · 18/04/2015 17:52

Can I just say that some of your user names are hysterically brilliant? (grin)
LOL :)

EuphemiaCoxton · 18/04/2015 17:53

I've just spent all the money I was saving for a bike on skin stuff.
Ooooops Blush
ahem. And the money I was saving for my summer wardrobe.

UntamedShrew · 18/04/2015 17:56

Thank you CH! x

almondcakes · 18/04/2015 18:03

Thanks squeezy. I'm taking the retin a under the eye, the initial results are a bit scary, but I have faith! Nevertheless I need a good eye cream!

The ina Brennan oil is supposed to be the business. Boots are doing well out of us this weekend.

Caroline, if you are still reading, do you have an opinion on the rest of the pixi range for skin care?

Thanks so much, will have to buy online then.

EnormousDormouse · 18/04/2015 18:34

Anyone got a recommendation for a good cheap 'acid toner' please? None have those words on the bottle as I suppose it would Scare The Horses.
Cheap as chips (

squoosh · 18/04/2015 18:40

The Boots Time Delay toner contains AHAs and costs less than a fiver. Not sure how much AHA but worth a shot.
