A colleague said this at work today, I was so chuffed.
I'm 47 and was looking not so good. This last month I have invested in serums, acids and what not have gone back to Caroline Hirons properly this time. I have been religiously cleaning and tending to my face AM and PM. I use a 30% glycol peel every couple of weeks and use tretinoin every 3 days.
I must say even I have noticed a difference, it has knocked years off me.
All blemishes gone, skin is ultra smooth, wrinkles reduced.
There is hope for us more (ahem) mature ladies!

Oh really? I did notice that the time delay stuff is 2 for £13 in boots at the mo.

TheBabyFacedAssassin · 18/04/2015 18:44
Shock

I am fangirling all over the place right now!

almahart · 18/04/2015 18:45

Caroline, I bought the clearasil pads, can I really use them twice a day? They seem quite stingy (if effective)

carolinehirons · 18/04/2015 18:52

Big Buttons - hold fire - it's all being redone and released in September.

carolinehirons · 18/04/2015 18:53

almahart - no I would use once a day - ideally you would use two different acid toners - mix up the acids and strengths - but I totally get that is not within everyone's budgets. If you only have one, use it in the evenings. xxx

carolinehirons · 18/04/2015 18:55

enormousdormouse the only one that cheap is the clearasil pads - if you can afford a bit more, pixi glow tonic is £18.00 and Clinique MILD clarifying lotion is £16.50 xx

bigbuttons · 18/04/2015 19:00

My fingers have been hovering over the 'buy' button on the pixi site for days now. Damn it. Is the stuff really THAT good(weeps)

Caroline - lovely to see you on here. Your blog had transformed my approach to skincare. Thank you.

One question about SPF if I may please ... I know that as I use an acid toner I need an SPF more than ever but I (ahem) like a bit of colour from the sun on my face and find it so hard to make myself wear a very high factor SPF ... would a 25 be ok or am I just ruining all the benefits I've gained from investing in my skin care routine?

squoosh · 18/04/2015 19:10

I didn't get any amazing results from the Pixi Glow. at least nothing that would make me buy it again in a hurry.

bigbuttons · 18/04/2015 19:14

Thanks squoosh can I ask what acid toners you are using/prefer ( if any )?

OP posts:
carolinehirons · 18/04/2015 19:18

Hi Bapple. A 25 is ok don't have a panic. :)

kiwidreamer · 18/04/2015 19:20

Is there anywhere to purchase Pixi Glow toner that doesn't incur a shipping charge?

carolinehirons · 18/04/2015 19:21

kiwidreamer its available on asos if you use them?

Oh. My. God. Lo, she has spoken! Deep breath. Caroline, you have changed my face. Years of on off acne, blotchiness, grease and dry patches now under control. I am now so in love with skin care and my own face. Ha! Actually looking at doing a CIDESCO. Thank you. Now removes lips from Caroline's bottom. Ahem. Sorry (not sorry).

bigbuttons · 18/04/2015 19:38

kiwidreamer · 18/04/2015 19:42

Not on Asos anymore by all accounts, have searched 'pixi' and 'toner' separately and nada... I'm not paying £4.50 shipping from them directly so I might have to go with Clinique --scampers off to see if there are any bonus time offers on at the mo--

Twitchcoco · 18/04/2015 19:48

Lady Hirons, I'm using Liquid Gold Wednesday and Sunday evenings but scared to add anything else acidy. Want to use a retinol as per your advice but not sure when or what and would hate to drop LG as very happy with it. just think at 51 I should/could add something more?

I should be watching the football but needs must and I'm so delighted you're here Grin

almondcakes · 18/04/2015 19:56

Most of the Bravura acid toners and exfoliators are under ten pounds.

bigbuttons · 18/04/2015 20:03

The Bravura stuff looks good. Have you tried any almondcakes

Quite new to this but am very intrigued. I'd love to lose my grey ish complexion, will a toner help? Im already double cleansing with a milky cleanser and facecloth, then moisturise. But still look half dead :(Hmm

almondcakes · 18/04/2015 20:17

I have the 30% glycolic acid exfoliator that you have to take off with a neutraliser and it did make a big difference (and I still have some left so will start on another course of it). I know there were whole threads on here about people using Bravura acids.

Unfortunately, Bravura will only now sell the 30% to professionals.

But they are still selling lower strength exfoliators. I am going to get the 2% salicylic acid for DD - that is four times the strength of the clinique mild exfoliator. Although I might get both so she can alternate strengths.

I am going to get a couple of different toners from there for me because they have different strengths and different AHAs and BHAs in them.

almondcakes · 18/04/2015 20:18

Should have said - the 30% is weekly. The 2% you can use every day.

Awks · 18/04/2015 20:20

OOh I'm a fan too. Hello gushes .

Tanaqui · 18/04/2015 20:21

I will try the anthelios sunscreen too (was asking about SPF for spot probe skin waaaay up thread! Sun sense was also recommended then)- it's la Roche posay too isn't it?

I like effaclar duo but just got the effaclar mat moisturiser and it's a bit too siliconey for me- goes into rolls, and I worry about spots again too!
