I just wants some t-shirts...

Or 'tops'. I'm used to buy tops from Gap, but have found that the fit and quality seems to have deteriorated. Things are just shapeless or polyesterey. I'm looking for nice, colourful (maybe with with a print?) t-shirts or vests. Ones that don't look cheap and will wash well and can be worn with skinnies or denim shorts. I'm a 10/12 and don't like things to be too fitted in the summer, but don't want shapeless boxy styles. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Watching with interest

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/04/2015 14:59

Alot of them are 'boxy' or too short [sigh]

I have a rogues gallery of TShirts from Sainsburys (especially the Modal ones) , Matalan ( again Modal, very silky and fine textured)

M&S Outlet - I got a cotton fitted top and a silky Autograph (not fitted , more boxy)

Primark for cheapie colours , they have a bit of stretch.

What about Landsend? Good basics.

I've just got a few t shirts with prints from New Look for the summer to throw on with jeans. Some of them were 2 for £12 so wasn't really expecting much but was surprised at how good the quality and fit was. Nice thick cotton with a bit of a stretch in and a good length.

notasleep · 12/04/2015 15:18

American apparel? Their basics are good and come in huge range of colours.

dementedma · 12/04/2015 15:22

The M and S plain coloured ones are great. I wear them to work under a jacket and they look smart and wash well.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/04/2015 15:26

Demented - which M&S ones are you getting? Any chance of a link?

onepieceoflollipop · 12/04/2015 15:27

Mantaray (Debenhams slightly cheaper answer to White Stuff)
M&S do various necklines and wide range of colours in t shirts.

PrimroseVilliers · 12/04/2015 15:27

Hush.

I recommend them so much that I'm worried people will think I work for them Grin

dementedma · 12/04/2015 15:48

I'll see if I can find a link. They are just plain coloured, round neck cotton tees and I wear them to death. About £6/£8 each I think.

I've just gone bonkers ordering some from Next, now that I've realised that I can just pay upfront and not sign up to the Next Directory. Lots of bright colours, plain and stripey. Could be a little addictive...

ihearttc · 12/04/2015 18:22

Warehouse have some plain ones which are really nice quality. Ive just got a load for our holiday in a few weeks.

PerspicaciaTick · 12/04/2015 18:34

Landsend do nice t-shirts.
And I've been very impressed with some basic white ones I got from George at Asda last summer and which have washed and worn well.

Sid77 · 12/04/2015 20:48

Thanks all - some great suggestions, I've not heard of landsend or hush so will check them out...

Uniqulo. They are the holy grail of T shirt shopping. Lots of different necklines in multiple colours that wear and wash well.

Paperblank · 12/04/2015 21:40

I bought a long line white vest on Saturday. Thick lovely cotton. Very soft and very comfy.

From Sainsbos. For a fiver!

I did this face -> Shock

BloggersNetwork · 12/04/2015 21:54

A lot of t-shirts are either short and boxy or too fitted these days. Is this not the case with Hush Primrose?

TheSkiingGardener · 12/04/2015 21:57

Have the M&S ones stopped shrinking then? I used to buy them but after 4-5 washes they would shrink by 3-4 inches in length.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/04/2015 19:24

The last cheapo M&S one I bought went baggy on the neck really quickly, and went really short and wide. I'd love to hear proof that this is no longer a problem!

SoupDragon · 13/04/2015 19:27

Have a look at Esprit.co.uk they have a good variety of styles and the quality is generally good. I like their vests a lot. They have free delivery and free returns too.

Pointlessfan · 13/04/2015 19:32

I got some from H&M last year, 2 for a tenner, organic cotton. They have washed well.

Lambzig · 13/04/2015 20:13

I second uniqlo. Great shapes and I have ones 5 years old that still look immaculate.

mewkins · 14/04/2015 07:19

Esprit is great. A bit pricier than m&s but fantastic quality.

SaltySeaBird · 14/04/2015 07:21

Also came on to say Espirit

IDismyname · 14/04/2015 07:28

I think the Joules ones are really good. Ive just bought a couple of plain 3/4 sleeve cotton tops from them. Their stuff washes so well, too. No shrinkage, saggy necks or strange twisting of seams.

missmartha · 14/04/2015 08:37

I got some from Next and I'm very pleased with them.
