Harems again!

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 07/04/2015 08:56

Right, I tried harems last year post pregnancy and couldn't cope with all my leg wobble! Anyway, having lost most post baby weight I've just bought two pairs and love them!

However, I'm not too sure what to wear on my feet. I have a pair of cork heel wedges with suede uppers. Sound any good? Besides that I'm stuck. I have wide size 7 feet so can't do trainers and don't think I should anyway. They have such a narrow cuff I can't wear my cons either. Any ideas?

Also on top I'm currently wearing a vest top as I have chucked everything out of my wardrobe and I'm on the hunt for a few nice tshirts. Does anyone have any suggestions? I think a jersey blazer would smarten them up nicely but not sure where has any at present, Zara maybe?

Out of interest where did you get your from? Birkies and heels have been my foot wear off choice... I have my eye on some lush leather trainers from mint velvet too

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 07/04/2015 09:23

Ah, yes birkies, good idea, saw some nice ones in office at the weekend but they're so hard! I'm thinking maybe some ugg flip flops. The harems are from... ... Next. They had black, navy and loads of patterned.

I got these: Floral

And these: Geo

I have the next ones in black and navy, I'm 7 weeks post partum so too chicken to get patterned ones in case they draw attention to my wobbly bottom half. I'm wearing my navy ones today with a white vest top, a Gap fitted denim shirt worn open and tan ballerina flats. I have worn them with converse and they look fine to me. Very tempted by some birkies though!

A soft blazer would look lovely, Uniqlo has the cardigan jackets back in, they would go. New Look have them as well, and not too expensive.

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 07/04/2015 11:41

Great, thank you, will check those!

I thought the patterned ones actually looked better on me than plain for coverage purposes.

Re cons it's just the size of my feet, I think they look great on other people!

I have lots and love them! I just wear ballet pumps or sandals. I have tropical print and paisley ones from next with s vest and a 'navy bonded blazer' also from Next. Always get compliments :-)

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 07/04/2015 12:43

Thanks Gem, will check out next blazer.

Ohthedrama I love that new look blazer, thanks! Will have a look at the weekend. Can you link to the gap denim shirt please?

I'd love a plaid shirt but I tried an oversize one in Topshop that drowned me! I'd like a fitted one preferably with so,e stretch, does such a thing exist?

They don't have the exact one on there but it's very like this one fit wise but is much darker blue denim and is popper fastening. It has been a really good investment as it goes with everything.

I think I will order that New Look jacket in coral for the summer.

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 07/04/2015 17:43

Thanks!

What does anyone think of these shoes to go with harems? I don't know if they're awful or not but they look comfy and I have painful feet so I need comfort!

shoes I like the yellow and the grey.

I guess the shoes bombed then!!

I have these in all three colours now. Currently wearing them with vests or t shirts and cashmere cardis , ( but I am ancient),and flats

I've also ordered this top... a throw back to my 70's youth!

Laska42 · 07/04/2015 22:06

I've been wearing these..

though these are what I want!

MrsPeacockDidIt · 07/04/2015 22:30

So far have only worn mine with cardi uggs but with the warmer weather I'll wear with birkies or my saltwaters.

Gem124 · 07/04/2015 23:12

I'd say no to the shoes with hareems but yes to them with jeans. I'd go sandals, ballet pumps, or even espadrilles :-)

polyhymnia · 07/04/2015 23:48

Agree with gem. I'm not a fan of those shoes at all but I just don't like Clarks, which I know is rare.

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 08/04/2015 07:14

Thanks both. I know what you mean about the shoes.

I don't like Clarks either but I'm getting desperate to find some flats with a decent sole that won't feel like I'm walking on the pavement!

Zara have some lovely espadrilles at the moment which work well with harems, are comfy and leather.

Plateofcrumbs · 08/04/2015 07:24

I think the problem with the loafers is that they are 'preppy casual' and harems are 'boho casual' and the two don't really mix.

That said I think the blazer works OK and that's preppy casual so maybe my 'rule' is cobblers. Hmm

Gem124 · 08/04/2015 08:11

How about these from office?m.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/2,30/1972704778

PrimroseVilliers · 08/04/2015 08:14

I wear the Hush harems ( have them in all three colours , I love them so much! ) and I wear Toms with them. I have black leather Toms that go with everything really. And in the summer I shall probably wear alternate with Birkenstocks

PrimroseVilliers · 08/04/2015 08:15

As to what to wear with Harems, I always go tighter on my top half to balance out the loose, relaxed fit of the trousers. I feel all ' baggy ' if I dont!

Gem124 · 08/04/2015 08:19

Really love these....www.next.co.uk/g30596s4#963272g30

Hopefully · 08/04/2015 09:57

I wear mine with slip on trainers, converse high tops, flat sandals. If I had wedge trainers I imagine I'd wear those too.

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 08/04/2015 12:50

I think toms and even the espadrilles come too high up the foot for me and make my feet look even bigger. I think these could work for me. Love the KG ones though.

Heels would be good, I'm really craving a pair of converse wedges!

Has anyone come across Harems that are cotton or cotton blend?
