Ladies - apologies I hadn't responded long week at work and a family funeral has made it a little crazy! Just out of curiosity do you get notified at all if things are posted? Or just a case of coming on here?

Also, to make it easier I've changed my name and can just be called AJ so no one gets confused including me ??!!

Absolutely love this - trying to catch up on a weeks worth tho is tough ??! Everyone finds clothes shoes etc on places I have never been on or heard of .... The excitement is a little much as I ?? Shopping but I ???? A bargain more!

Mazjacks et al I am with you on the diet front too many things in the next few months not to take some action! The ensembles I may need some help with ???? plz - 2xweddings, black tie charity event & just got invited to the Chelsea flower show gala night ?? which I am excited about but have nothing to wear!

Cranagh love that trench - timeless! Although you can get a Burberry for c£400 on the beige classic ones! I can look out for high street ones if that's of interest?

My style - high street! High end to primark/supermarket....if it looks and feels right I don't care where it's from! Accessories however are high street to designer (real & fake ??) not everyone's cup of tea but the latter I like to think I buy very good quality!

My essay is over as I am in the library studying for CIMA exams!
Ciao for now ??

Karbea · 25/04/2015 13:03

Ok I'd get

  1. the Chanel espadrilles - £350
  2. the Chanel ballet pumps - £385
  3. Frame white skinnies - £200

Bit lost for my last £65
4) this is a great idea though.

Last £15... Umm some shampoo and McDonald's!

shopafrolic · 25/04/2015 13:11

Waves to WelshAJ lovely to have you here again and the name change makes it easier!
So I am.....

shopafrolic · 25/04/2015 13:11

Dramatic Classic

MarshaBrady · 25/04/2015 13:22

Brilliant! Are you happy with it? What kinds of outfits.

What did the other consultant say again?

QueenCardigan · 25/04/2015 13:54

Yay shop. No surprises there really but is it good to have it confirmed? Did you enjoy it?

Loving everyone's fantasy shopping. It's cheered me up as well a a cheeky power nap. Just now preparing my cheesecake. Yum. Expect lots of hungover links in the morning!

QueenCardigan · 25/04/2015 14:00

For whoever asked about new handbags this brand was mentioned by the frugality village england

Drywhiteplease · 25/04/2015 15:47

Shop did she show you how to style stuff you already have or do yo you need buy some bits?
WelshAJ like you, if I like it and the quality is fit for purpose I buy it.......just back from Sainsburys with food and a bright yellow and white breton, fits beautifully, not the thickest cotton Jersey but for £8 it will do nicely for my stay cation this year. Have never worn yellow, but this shade works.

Drywhiteplease · 25/04/2015 15:59

Oh and this skirt arrived. Looks horrid on the model. I bought the vintage denim above the knee length one. Very useful.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 25/04/2015 16:01

Yay shop, so it's just proved what we all thought! If I am tempted by Dramatic things in future I'll just link them for you instead Grin

AJ hi again. No, you don't get notified of new posts but there is an MN app which you could get addicted to check more easily, if you don't already have it Wink I am intrigued by these £400 Burberry trenches, where do you find them - Bicester or similar? I want to get one for a biggish birthday next year...

Drywhiteplease · 25/04/2015 16:05

better pic Boden denim skirt

shopafrolic · 25/04/2015 16:23

Sorry - posted and then ran.
Feeling good. I always thought I was Classic with a bit of Dramatic but it turns out I'm all about the drama! Who knew? Grin
Really good - she came to the house. Sat down with a coffee and worked our way through the personal style book.
So the interesting stuff for me:

  1. Body geometrics (shape) I am Sharp Straight I have straight shoulders, a defined waist and proportional bust and hips.
  2. I have an oblong face shape (always wanted to know this) and an acute jaw angle with a long neck
  3. Necklines should be high and tight, or V shaped or soft square so boat necks, v necks, crew necks, polo necks all fine
  4. Jackets can cut at the waist or at the leg break or full length coats
  5. Skirts should be short or long, nothing knee length or calf length (exception would be a calf length tube skirt)
  6. I scored 14 Yang to 6 Yin - control freak
  7. Lapels should be sharp and straight, bags and belts should be structured and asymmetric, patterns and fabrics should be sharp straight or straight
  8. She had nothing to teach me about wardrobe management Grin Thanks Voguettes
  9. In terms of jeans I should do skinny or a full on 70s flare - no half measures - definitely no straight legged jeans (explains why my Paige ones make me feel so mumsy)
  10. Descriptive words are Dynamic, Stunning (?), Powerful, Structured, Sleek, Sharp, Extreme, Striking

Made me laugh Karbea as she said smooth, stiff and shiny fabrics with high shine better than sparkle for evenings (send me that catsuit immediately)
Lengths of clothes best over short or over long - so mini skirts or maxi dresses
Shoes should be pointed, statement handbags, large, abstract accessories, lots of asymmetry
Hair - angular cut, asymmetric and extreme styles can look great
Make-up - strong, definitive look
Casual - use strong accessories to keep clean sharp lines
Evening - cut away dresses, asymmetric lines, tuxedos (YES!!), amazing jewellery

She then went through my wardrobe and said best bits and dubious bits. Happy to link if of interest........ don't want to bore.

shopafrolic · 25/04/2015 16:24

Oh and I should totally have bought the Prada glasses

Drywhiteplease · 25/04/2015 16:34

Which were the dubious bits?

When you went through the style book, did you have to say what you liked or did she assess by just looking at you

Drywhiteplease · 25/04/2015 16:36

Explain yin and yang in fashion terms.....

Drywhiteplease · 25/04/2015 16:37

Sounds spot on though

shopafrolic · 25/04/2015 16:52

Body shape, face shape, jaw etc was just by looking at me. Then lots of questions about how I behave in certain situations, when I feel most confident etc.
Dubious items:
straight jeans Always felt not quite right in these
Bella - perfect shape, wrong colour and pattern Love the dress, knew the pattern and colour were off
not structured enough, wrong fabric I have only worn it once
too unstructured, wrong colour I have only worn this once

Yin and Yang=
Dark / Fair
Big / Small
Angular / Curved
Reserved / Friendly
Sophisticated / Natural
Risk Taker / Plays Safe
Chucker Out / Hoarder
Creative using ideas / Creative using hands
Organised / Disorganised
etc
etc
etc

shopafrolic · 25/04/2015 16:54

Plain white shirt - too dull for me, needs interest. Oversized collar, ruffle down front, huge cuffs - something like that - too waitress mode. Too dull.
She said to me to think - "would it suit Jessie J?" If jessie J wouldn't wear it then I shouldn't go there :)

shopafrolic · 25/04/2015 16:56

Perfect items included the two pre Grand Cayman Karen Millen dresses.
The red Jigsaw heels and the pink LKB sandals (thanks Amber)
The red HL dress.
Leather trousers and oversized knits
Adidas Superstars
Gucci cuff watch
Sportmax coat with the huge collar, belted waist and kimono sleeves

Drywhiteplease · 25/04/2015 16:58

Very interesting. Sounds really great. Kind of confirming what felt right I guess. I'd rather do this than a colour day.

shopafrolic · 25/04/2015 17:06

Oh and hilariously said "Dramatics are the only people who can make cheap clothes look cheap" Grin I nearly kissed her! So now DH can't argue with me when I tell him that I make H&M and Zara clothes look awful - when some of my friends wear them and look a million dollars. :)

shopafrolic · 25/04/2015 17:09

And finally (sorry) when I opened my colour coded, wooden hangered, sorted by clothes type wardrobe she nearly fainted Grin

MarshaBrady · 25/04/2015 17:13

All sounds spot on. I suspect I might be in the same cheap / cheap club

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 25/04/2015 17:14

And I can see how much better your perfect list is to the not sure list.

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 25/04/2015 17:16

Marsha previous woman in passing said she thought I was classic dramatic so close enough
Dry my style sheet says I should avoid Chanel suits, twinsets and Burberry check :)
As a dramatic classic I should have all the characteristics of Dramatics but with a sophisticated air - less extreme hemlines so short but not bum skimming and more sleekness to the look
