Or has she just sold her soul to the devil? If I look like that at 81 I will be very, very happy.

Lots of pretty minor stuff I would say, more at the high tec skincare end than surgery- looks like plenty of peels, plus some botox round the jawline to make a smooth line there, maybe a little filler here and there. Very light touch and minimally invasive.

But very, very well done and on top of lifelong good skincare, diet, exercise and great genes to start with.

Cariad007 · 27/03/2015 08:41

And in this era of "stars without makeup shocker* photos, I don't think I've ever seen a pic of Joan without wig and full slap!

HeffalumpsnWoozles · 27/03/2015 08:46

Her neck and legs even look great slinks off to stock up on avocado's thought they make me gag

lightgreenglass · 27/03/2015 08:50

I saw her on the Jack Whitehall show and I thought you can tell she's had extensive work on her face as her neck and chest were all wrinkly and saggy.

Mrsjayy · 27/03/2015 08:52

Yeah she will have had high tech expensive skin care why not if she can afford it . I had a neighbour who lived till she was 99 she just got poorly last 3 years of her life. Before then she had raven black hair full face on everyday and just swished about the village looking fabulous she was so glamorous

SpecificOcean · 27/03/2015 09:15

I saw an 70+ year old the other day- slim, hair done, make-up on and a big happy smile on her face, wearing lovely clothes- fitted dress, faux fur jacket. She looked amazing too and I remember thinking that's how I will look. She wasn't OTT or trying to look young, just looked fab.

pinkfrocks · 27/03/2015 11:13

she has a husband about 35 years younger.

I loved her response when someone asked her if she was worried about the age gap:

'If he dies, he dies'.

(she works on her figure and eats healthily, has prob had some fillers and Botox and always wears wigs.)

Jackie0 · 27/03/2015 11:17

I love Joan !
Joan ! If you are reading this , I love yooooou !!!!!

pinkfrocks · 27/03/2015 11:20

Her neck is good for someone 80+ - so it might have had some work on it- and her teeth are straight out of Hollywood. But she also knows how to dress - spotty veils are a bit of a distraction, gloves to cover hands, knows how to pose to show off her legs. But my mum is older than her and still has a fantastic figure and legs.

squoosh · 27/03/2015 12:47

She's had a facelift every decade for the past 40 years I'd bet.

squoosh · 27/03/2015 12:50

She's been wise though in leaving eye wrinkles for a more natural effect and avoiding lip fillers.

Well done Joan, I bet she was straight on the phone to her sister Jackie to say 'ner, ner I'm a Dame and you're only an OBE'.

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 27/03/2015 12:54

Personally I cannot bear her. All this spouting off about how glamorous a woman should be at all times - FUCK OFF!! Most women have not the time, energy or money to look 'glamorous' at all times.

She is a smug, judgemental moo.

And she wears wigs because she has no hair at all. Nothing wrong in that, but don't tell everyone else how they should be looking, when they haven't got the money to do so.

specialsubject · 27/03/2015 12:56

quite a lot done by the looks of it, (top half of face solid) but I bet she also knows that peak UV isn't in August and isn't related to temperature. Also she's never been fat which has probably helped.

hilariously awful outfit though, and hair too dark for her age. Note she is wearing gloves too, as hands always age naturally.

still, good luck to her.

MaryWestmacott · 27/03/2015 12:57

She's had good work done, trying ot look like a well aged woman rather than 20-something.

I rather adore her, she's just so uncompromising.

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 27/03/2015 12:58

She claims to never have got a tan - ie staying out of the sun to avoid damage to her skin

HellKitty · 27/03/2015 13:07

My DF met her 20+ years ago. Hated her and said she had the most nicotine stained teeth and bad breath he'd ever known. Burst my bubble Hmm

PoisonPension · 27/03/2015 13:13

Didn't one of her dc do an article about her being a horrid narcissistic cowbag?

pinkfrocks · 27/03/2015 13:42

I don't think she smokes now.

She has opinions but nothing wrong with that.

And I don't agree that you can only look good if you have money and time. Some women with little of either look great- it's all about making some effort.

MrsKoala · 27/03/2015 14:05

I read an article a few years back about how certain faces/features age better than others. It chose Joan as it's example of better ageing features. Eg an oval/round face, wide apart eyes, a soft/small nose and full lips.

If you start with those features you apparently have a head start. Then if you carefully have gradual and subtle work done and look after yourself, eat well, avoid sun etc, you should age well. But you have to start with the luck of those features i guess and then just try to preserve what you have.

PoisonPension · 27/03/2015 14:18

A big nose does age you as it never stops growing.

MrsKoala · 27/03/2015 14:23

Yes, and lips get thinner so if they are very full to start with then they may not disappear entirely like some thin lips do.

Mrsjayy · 27/03/2015 14:24

Tbf to Joan she doesn't live in our world not really so her style tips don't cross over to us mere mortals she just is very glamorous it's fine to admire that in an 81 yr old

PoisonPension · 27/03/2015 14:24

I didn't realise that lips got thinner as you age.

squoosh · 27/03/2015 14:25

Lips crammed with filler are more ageing than naturally thin lips though.

squoosh · 27/03/2015 14:26

I think if you're lucky enough to have a good pair of cheekbones it helps a lot with the ageing process. The face seems to drape better!
