Nude pumps - yes or no?

Notcontent · 22/03/2015 15:57

I bought some nude pumps today from Hobbs. I think they look nice but want to reassure myself I haven't made a mistake. I set out to buy the same style in black but then realised I have some black peep toe pumps and that maybe I don't need black after all.

I will mainly wear them for work. They seem to go well with navy and bright colours... I am not going to look too mumsy, am I?

My only issue is that I generally favour black matt tights, so will obviously need to seek alternatives!

Does anyone have a view?

Have you got a link to them?

PossumPoo · 22/03/2015 19:46

I have nude wedged hill peep toes and they actually look great with everything. I've worn them to weddings and with black skinnys to less formal. I wasn't sure when i bought them but they have turned out to be the best high heels I've owned.

That link is to black patent court shoes with a high heel?

Notcontent · 22/03/2015 20:33

Yes, they are the nude version in the link. Court shoes/pumps - I always get confused...

Pumps are like ballet shoes, yes?

tak1ngchances · 22/03/2015 21:46

They are totally fine and inoffensive just slightly dated and middleton-esque

Notcontent · 22/03/2015 21:51

Dated is what I was trying to avoid...

No. Nude pumps are the new knee high boot, just as the knee high boot recovers!

Bit done to death.

southeastastra · 22/03/2015 22:45

think they're nice, definitely not mumsy. just a good everyday shoe

TheCraicDealer · 22/03/2015 23:20

I like them and have been considering investing in a decent pair that actually fit. But I have to agree with the PP that they're now getting dated. Last night I was at my dad's choir concert ("Broadway and Beyond"...) and every other woman past the age of 50 had the same sturdyish Middleton-esque nude courts on. Dammit!

TheCraicDealer · 22/03/2015 23:27

I do like your link though- they're a good shade of nude, not too pinky (and would go with that mink coloured dress I have that black shoes are OTT with). Are Hobbs shoes worth the money?

Pumps are the American word for court shoes, sweetspring .

Tsk, tsk. You need to get out more Grin

CaTsMaMmA · 23/03/2015 07:23

send them back....they are horrid

courts shoes...nasty
nude...just ridiculous
patent....vile

unless of course you are in craicdealer's choir or in fact actually Kate Middleton

improbablesaint · 23/03/2015 07:33

Hated them then. Hate them. Very middle management. Like dolls feet

dont you believe it

Darkchocsprinkles · 23/03/2015 12:32

What do we do? Lock the yanks out? Wink Change the site name to BritMumsNet? Are you a member of UKIP by any chance, Sweetspring ?

Only teasing. Let us not jeopardize our special relationship over the color of some pumps, okay? Grin

Darkchocsprinkles · 23/03/2015 12:34

OP - don't like the nude, personally. Navy suede is to die for (different style, still Hobbs). Hobbs shoes last and are comfy IMHO.

Apologies for hijackFlowers

specialsubject · 23/03/2015 12:40

'can't do anything too high?'

those are stilts by my definition.

they'll get marked in seconds. Very impractical colour.

Mamab33 · 23/03/2015 12:47

Is it not the cadaver colour that is the biggest issue here?

Darkchocsprinkles · 23/03/2015 12:50

I think the covert infiltration of a bastion of British culture by North American fashionistas is a more pressing concern, tbh.

Maybe that's just me Grin

ZenNudist · 23/03/2015 12:53

I liked those shoes in navy. I'm not a huge fan of patent though and got navy suede instead.

I like them but I need to dress very conservatively at work.
