Operation Renovation - get set for summer!

CallingAllEngels · 22/03/2015 11:07

Always loved the renovation threads set up in the past by Helga and control and can't see a current one (and badly need it!).

As always, this thread is for all types of renovation - diet, hair, make-up, clothes, or simply finding ways to make more time for you.

The rules are simple, make a list of 10 things (or as many as you are comfortable with) you will do to start to work towards your renovation goal and decide how frequently you need to do these.

Let's get renovating!!

Am managing to keep up with doing Shred every other day. Today's my day off! Have made appointment to run with running partner next week - may also go by myself at the weekend. What I should really do is have my running stuff ready and go straight after early morning feed. I was up with DS2 at 5am this morning and then went back to bed!

Ordered some lovely 50s style jeans today - hoping they fit!

OP posts:
Helgathehairy · 08/04/2015 17:12

I'm slacking. Things went a bit during the bank holiday weekend and haven't quite managed to back on track. Did a bit of walking but a bit of eating out as well. Feet are still peeling.

MsAppleBlossom · 08/04/2015 21:13

noddy tell me more about artist's tape. Is it transparent? I've so far avoided the children seeing me with white sticky tape on my head but it won't be long!

Have been for a run, did facial exercises (have moved on to the Intermediate programme. Feel very proud of myself Wink ) ate quite a lot of chocolate but no wine. Found the aqua flex. It fecking fell out. I've put it away in a huff. Maybe that needs its own thread.....

Karbea · 09/04/2015 07:49

Hello,

I've been rubbish at this so far.
But dh was away last night and I ate my Easter bunny and I've woken up with spots! So as I'm rubbish and can't do ten things at once I'm going to add in one thing a day and see how I get on. So I'm giving up chocolate and diary today as I had a coffee with real milk yesterday (I rarely drink real milk I normally have almond, so this isn't hard) so that might not have helped the spots.

Karbea · 09/04/2015 13:47

Just had a tiny bit of chocolate :(

noddyholder · 09/04/2015 13:52

NO the tape is brown like brown paper you lick it and stick on!

MsAppleBlossom · 09/04/2015 21:30

Ah ok noddy I'll stick with the micropore!

Slightly rubbish day today - have done very little renovating, mainly stuff with the kids and then drinking beer this evening. oops. back on it tomorrow, honest.

noddyholder · 09/04/2015 22:07

Its very very good though I tried micropore and fine masking tape and didn't work but its what works best for you really

CallingAllEngels · 11/04/2015 13:31

Nothing wrong with a bit of chocolate karbea !

Well done on tne run appleblossom.

Lost 1.2kg at my weigh in this morning and am keep up with shred just about - ds1 still insisting on doing it with me and stealing my weights and mat!

Have ordered a few bitsof clothing this week - a dress for leavers prom which looks fab, and a few collectif pieces - cardi, top and a shirt dress which I'm expecting this afternoon. Really must tidy my wardrobe up and get my pre pg clothes out of boxes as am nearly at pre pg weight now, though waist is still a bit podgy.

OP posts:
MsAppleBlossom · 12/04/2015 21:40

Hurray for your 1.2kg engels I think I've prob put that on in crisps and beer the last few days, but am planning a fast day or two.

have forgotten vitamins, body brushing, moisturising and face exercises - will get back on it tomorrow Grin

KiaOraOAotearoa · 12/04/2015 23:13

Hello! And I'm back :)
Will post my list tomorrow, I've got the flu :( but really nice to see you all on the thread again, been wondering how you are all doing.

KiaOraOAotearoa · 13/04/2015 08:51

Right.
My list:
1.Revert back to continental eating. The reason why I snack is because a sandwich at lunchtime for example is no sufficient food. So I'll make sure I have the whole 3 course meal for every lunch. No more bowls of cereals in the morning, proper cheese, jam, etc breakfast.

  1. Body brush. I am going away in the sun soon, I need to get rid of all the dead skin and moisturise, ready for some colour.
  1. Facial exercises. I am getting old. Which is fine. But I've had some major life changing upsets that aged me 10 years in 6 months.
  1. Book 4 facials for this year. And pay in advance.
  1. Run 3 times a week. Now that it's lighter, I can go running after work. For those of you who remember, I started running last September I think. I couldn't run to save my life, now I can do 5k and not feel it the
next day.
  1. Find another DVD (apart from Shred) I can do at home. I started looking into it, then life happened badly again. The shred is killing my knees.

That's about it I think. I'll add if I think of more.

Engels, congrats on the birth of your DS2.
Jemima, you're such an inspiration, I remember when you started going swimming before work!
Karbea, nice to see you! How is your job going?
Anybody seen lucysmum?
Helga, what a young lady you have now. 20 months!

The sun is out already, looks like a nice day.

Itsalldramarama · 13/04/2015 09:28

Hi can I join in? Directed here from my hairy toes and lizard leg thread!!
So I'm de haired and well exfoliated and moisturised! Pedicured and hair trimmed :) start of low carb yesterday , feel less bloated today already! The diet I will stick to as I know cheating blows it out the water ! Off to stock up on food later ! Ditched the uggs ... My newly smooth toes are bloody freezing after the school run in burkenstocks !!! Got 4 days off work so time for a kick start !! Plenty of water today and need some form off excersise ! Would love to attempt a run but I know I will have copious "oops moments :0 !' Dig out the weights and tackle the bingo wings I think ....

muddlingalongquitenicely · 13/04/2015 14:22

Hi i need this thread got to get myself in to gear before summer. Will be back with either a short list of things to do or a list of todays accomplishments.

KiaOraOAotearoa · 15/04/2015 11:55

Been doing my facial exercises: it does work! Might have to do with th fact that I am taking it really easy, but I can tell the difference!
Got some colour now, second day in the sun: bliss!!!
Upped my proteine intake and lowered the carbs.
Got my summer clothes out Grin

Itsalldramarama · 15/04/2015 18:41

Ooo any links to facial excersises? I've started low carb too ! Just threw together a lovely chicken and spring greens frattatia sort of thingy !! Tastes nicer than it sounds !!! Feel less bloated already after nearly 3 days !

Favouritethings · 15/04/2015 20:47

Thanks msapple for the info, sounds really good and will try to get some tape to banish my appearing 11s!

My list:
Get tape
Get footner
Get herbal teas and cut down on coffee
Drink more water
Book in for highlights and trim
Face mask weekly
Paint nails weekly
Sort out wardrobe/save to purchase a few new clothes
Keep up weekly kettles class
Stop eating so much godamn crap

KiaOraOAotearoa · 18/04/2015 10:55

itsalldrama is the clip I use. I like her, don't ask me why, something about her face. And she's got amazing skin.
Been doing this for a week now. Fantastic results! I'm not as jawly and I really look 'fresh'. Time to go back to the opticiansGrin

Been doing the C Hieron cheat sheet as well. Been a bit lax aboit the whole face care routine. The serum IS making all the difference! My skin looks much nicer. Also awaiting delivery of an acid toner, I went for a Mario Badescu one.
My eyebrows are in dire need of threading! No time this weekend, but must must must do it asap.
About to do my nails.
Have a nice weekend everyone.

MsAppleBlossom · 18/04/2015 11:02

KiaOra that looks really very relaxing. Might give it a whirl tonight, thank you Flowers

KiaOraOAotearoa · 18/04/2015 12:30

Hi apple, it is! I love the routine now, I skip the blurb if I need reminding, but I think I memorised the sequence. :)

KiaOraOAotearoa · 18/04/2015 12:48

Oh, the toner arrived! Looks..there's something about the packaging and or name/colour that makes me think of paint stripper. Hope it's ok. CH thinks I should use it after the second cleanse in the evening.
I liked her idea: take make up off when you get home as opposed to just before bed when you're dying to just crash, have no patience faffing...wise woman, common sense is underated.

Zorion · 20/04/2015 10:57

Hi! I'm joining in! I have finally paid off some debts and so have a little more money and more time for myself so I am going to really, really enjoy this summer! My 10 things to do are:

  1. Use my new Philips Lumea.
  2. Get regular gel manicures
  3. Do my own regular gel pedicures
  4. Pluck my eyebrows when they need it
  5. Always take my make up off before bed
  6. moisturise my whole body - not just face!
  7. Drink 2l of water every day
  8. Keep sugar intake down (have done this successfully for 1 week so far!)
  9. Chuck out clothes I never wear
10. Hair cut and colour at the end of June.
JemimaMuddledUp · 21/04/2015 22:08

I bought some Miscellar (might have spelt that wrong) Water today. Only cheap Vitamin E stuff from Superdrug, but I plan to use it to take my make up off at night before using the Hot Cloth Cleanser as a double cleanse routine.

My skin is looking much better at the moment, I think it might be the sheer volume of fruit and veg I am consuming. Work is really stressful at the moment and normally you would be able to see it in my face, but you can't Grin

Still swimming and yoga-ing and walking lots. Plan to get the bike out too if this nice weather continues. Still starting every day with a mostly veg based juice. Still eating mostly plant based with a bit of fish and very little dairy. Drinking lots of water and avoiding caffeine.

Next step is to get my legs and feet summer-ready. That may be a challenge...

KiaOraOAotearoa · 24/04/2015 06:08

Hello all :)
About to go for a little run-and I mean little run, my lungs are shot to pieces from the flu. And I'll do some pilates this afternoon before school run.
Must do my pedicure today and book manicure/haircut/facial for my holiday soon. Oh, and check that my bikinis still fit.

My summer wardrobe is sorted. And will get rid of a lot of stuff that I love/d but it's been years wearing them.
I am still doing the 33 items wardrobe, I've got way too much stuff out.
Gosh I enjoyed the sun these past two weeks!!!

MsAppleBlossom · 24/04/2015 20:43

I've been rubbish and done very little renovating recently, but today managed:

a big long walk
2 litres of water
vitamins and fish oils
bought some Clearasil pads as recommended by Caroline Hirons to use in my evening routine.

I think I may also have had 5 fruit and veg too.... this is amazing!
