Operation Renovation - get set for summer!

CallingAllEngels · 22/03/2015 11:07

Always loved the renovation threads set up in the past by Helga and control and can't see a current one (and badly need it!).

As always, this thread is for all types of renovation - diet, hair, make-up, clothes, or simply finding ways to make more time for you.

The rules are simple, make a list of 10 things (or as many as you are comfortable with) you will do to start to work towards your renovation goal and decide how frequently you need to do these.

Let's get renovating!!

After long deliberation probably far too long I have come up with-

  1. drink more water
  2. take off make up before going to bed (really bad at this as only just started wearing it every day so forget I'm wearing it until tucked up in bed)
  3. body brush twice a week
  4. moisturise every morning
  5. use up the mountain of lotions and potions I have rather than buying more
  6. get outside at least once a day 7)start 30 day shred again
  7. eat more fruit and veg
  8. have one pamper evening a week
  9. look after and treat my nails.

So far today I have drank more water and I've looked at the dvd !

Helgathehairy · 03/04/2015 11:54

I did footner last Sunday. Today I'm peeling. OMG not sure what I was expecting but this is amazing! I think I will have to do another application in a few weeks but I have the cheap Hong kong version to try then.

Still no shred but I manage a lovely long dog walk earlier.

Not strictly princessing related but DD (almost 20 months) spent until 5.20am in her cot. She usually starts the night in the cot but wakes after 2-3 hours and comes into our bed but last night she slept till 5.20 in her cot!!!

MsAppleBlossom · 03/04/2015 13:16

Well done helga 's DD!! Hope you had a lovely sleep.

My princessing also hampered by poorly children but have managed another GA peel, left it for 6 minutes today. Skin still exactly the same as usual but early days I guess.

Have also been for a run: I'm trying to do some informal HIIT by basically running as fast as I can once or twice while I'm out. Running has done nothing at all to my weight, size, or cellulite and while I mainly do it for the way it makes me feel, I wouldn't mind having slightly slenderer thighs Easter Wink

I've been doing pretty well remembering to take my vitamins - haven't today but I will, I promise

MsAppleBlossom · 03/04/2015 13:18

Ooh also tell all about footner. I've seen it mentioned on here. I scrub my feet every now and then with a pumice stone - is footner better??

Buttercup27 · 03/04/2015 14:03

Managed a shred yesterday and am feeling it today. Also a bath and face pack planned for later after another shred .

Helgathehairy · 03/04/2015 19:53

apple foottner is basically a peel for your feet. It comes as plastic socks you put on for an hour and then take off. About a week later you start peeling. I was expecting something like the peel you get after sunburn but this is coming off in sheets! Absolutely no pain at all. Skin feels much softer. Basically I think it's brilliant.

Helgathehairy · 03/04/2015 19:54

I've used the micro pedi and the soap and glory foot file and foottner blows them out of the water.

MsAppleBlossom · 03/04/2015 20:37

Ta Dah! Easter Grin I've done a fast day today! hadn't really intended to, but wasn't hungry, so didn't eat anything after my run, and then I had a homemade vegetable curry with a teeny bit of rice. I've never managed to do more than a week or two of 5:2ing but find fast days actually really easy. So I feel like I've given everything a bit of a rest.

If the children settle down I might go and epilate my legs, and that will mean this has been the most princessing renovating day I've had in ages!

MsAppleBlossom · 03/04/2015 20:38

Thanks for the footner info helga .... very tempted!

tropicalphilosophical · 04/04/2015 08:20

Here's my list Smile
-drink 8 glasses of water a day
-eat more fruit and veg and less processed food
-double cleanse and use facial oil daily
-wear 'natural' makeup
-deep condition hair once a week

  • face mask, face scrub and pore strips once a week
-sort out wardrobe -keep shoes and bag clean -exercise 4 times a week -do nails once a week.
Misssss · 04/04/2015 21:36

Can I join, late I know. I start princess ing with good intentions then fall off and return to my slattern ways. My list.
-Drink 3l of water a day. I get compliments from strangers when I do this.
-exercise. 2x a week with personal trainer and 3x a week alone. I've been doing two sessions a week with my trainer since January and I've lost two stones Grin
-makeup, I'm watching lots of YouTube videos and trying to perfect technique.
-manicures and pedicures. I actually grazed my *friend with my rough hooves last week. Shame!
-hair. Need new hair extensions or nice hair style for the spring.

-Haur removal, full body nair every two weeks.
-Facial exercises. Might look into facercise dvd.

  • Vitamins daily
-No carbs and very little dairy to pass my lips on a weekday. -Sort out clothes. Will try and sell the too big things on eBay and use the funds to get smaller fitted clothes. Need to develop a personal style instead of just getting things that fit.

Hopefully I can stick to it and look/feel better about myself this summer.

MsAppleBlossom · 05/04/2015 21:21

today's Tah Dah!s:

vitamins, and a protein shake for breakfast.
lovely hour long walk in gorgeous sunshine
15 minutes or so of yoga
GA peel (7 minutes) this evening
manicure
currently experimenting with micropore tape on my forehead lines, in the manner of cheap frownies. am hoping to look less furious tomorrow.

am having a glass of wine, on the basis that it's good for the soul.

ememem84 · 05/04/2015 21:32

i'd like to join if i may. I tried really hard in autumn...then fell off the wagon a bit.

my list is as follows:

  • drink more water;
  • moisturise face & whole body every day;
  • scrub feet and moisturise every other day;
  • start styling my hair more;
  • move more - walk to and from work 3 times a week as a minimum and get back into using my gym membership;
  • cut down on snacks (try no snacks 4 days a week...);
  • less tv/more sleep;
  • more natural makeup;
  • start looking after myself more.

so far this week I've walked to work once, (because i couldn't be arsed the other times - the weather was crap, i have waterproofs...i'm just a lazy), but have really taken care of what I eat. Super healthy, for the majority of the meals, and even when junk food (i.e. pizza) homemade...

CallingAllEngels · 06/04/2015 08:52

Welcome misss , ememem , tropical and anyone else who's hopped on board!

I'm going to try footner this summer helga - sounds gross but worth it! Hope DD is feeling better.

I think it's always good to keep int hings that are good for your soul blossom - I have been having mini bottle of wine every weekend and maybe two this weekend because it's a bank holiday as part of my weekend treat. If I deny myself everything I'll end up cracking and pigging out at some point.

I'm managing to be reasonably good with eating. easter Sunday at the ILs was a challenge but no choclate or crisps consumed and drank water during the day instead of fizz.

Am managing to do Shred every other day which is realistic for me - no way I'd be able to do it everyday. DS1 (3) seems to like doing it with me though and keeps stealing my mat and weights so I've had to make sure I have 2 sets and that he has his own "workout gear" Grin

My hair feels so much better since I had a good few inches chopped off last month - it's given it new life! I'm now trying to blow dry when I wash it and it means it stays nice for longer and isn't frizzy. Deep conditioning once a week as well. I managed a face mask after my post workout shower last night.

Felt very satisfying to use up a bottle of body moisturiser yesterday. Now onto the next! (have been given so many post-baby!). This time it's raspberry body butter from the Body Shop. I don't usually buy it myself as I find it a bit sticky but I'll take what I can get!

I was trying to hold out to whittle my waist a bit more before buying any more clothes but I couldn't resist this Hepburn dress to wear to our Leaver's prom in June. They have 15% off until the end of the Bank Holiday and their stuff can go out of stock really quickly so wanted to get it now! Have ordered the 14 and 16 though to try as am worried my waist will be too big for the 14.

Hope everyone's having a good Easter weekend.

MsAppleBlossom · 06/04/2015 10:15

Hi engels and ememem and everyone else

The micropore only went and worked!! It's a sticky tape like you'd find in a first aid kit, mine came from asda - did an x shape thing over my cross frown line before I went to bed, took them off when I got up and you can hardly see it this morning! Normally I wake up with a dark red line between my eyebrows and I look so different! Am enormously impressed. there's still a faint hint of where the line is, and from reading the reviews on amazon for frownies, it seems the effect is only likely to last a few hours, but for the 79p or whatever the tape cost (for metres of it!) I'm happy to take a few hours. Very happy Grin

WildBillfemale · 06/04/2015 11:27

Ok - so far

cut out takeaways
cut down on cheese
upped protein
more fresh fruit and veg
1 'naughty' cake or sweet bar a day if that
eating nuts and seeds

choppy haircut
3rd facial on Thursday
trying to get into a regular skin care routine - improved a bit

huge wardrobe clearout and ordered some new clothes and sandals

Excellent timing I won a basket of Neals yard products in a raffle!
yummy.....

MsAppleBlossom · 06/04/2015 23:23

Today's Ta Dah!s:

vitamins
good breakfast
half an hour or so run
exfoliated all over and moisturised after shower
facial exercises
got my homemade frownie on again as about to go to bed - i swear the line between my eyebrows has looked better today - much much less pronounced and I had some stressy times at work that would normally make the line of doom red and angry by hometime. Am very hopeful that this might really work to retrain my muscles a bit!

just had another good-for-the-soul glass of wine but I really needed it after today!!

diggerdigsdogs · 07/04/2015 04:10

Can I still join? Dd is 5 days old and I know from dc1 + 2 how different I feel if I spend time on me instead of turning into a slug on the sofa.

  1. Wash face every night
  2. Sun cream every day
  3. Keep up eyebrow thread & tint
  4. Start to IPL my legs
  5. Walk dog every morning
  6. Gell pedicure as needed
  7. Manicure at home weekly - remove polish once chipped
  8. Body cream daily
  9. Rose hip on stretch marks
10. Kegels!
Wherestherealme · 07/04/2015 08:39

I need this so bad!!! I will be back with a list. (Still laid in bed) i have spent the last 2 days in an oversized onesie with greasy hair Blush

I have a box full of lotions and potions and some gradual tanning stuff. Need to get some vitamins. I need to stop with takeaways and my fizzy pop addiction.

MsAppleBlossom · 07/04/2015 13:05

digger and where hello!! And welcome.

So far my Ta Dah!s:

Moisturised
Co washed hair

Still need to take vitamins and drink something other than coffee, but I will and I will report back. Digger, I too need to clench more. Have the aqua flex system. Need to bloody use it!!!

ememem84 · 07/04/2015 20:50

Favouritethings · 07/04/2015 22:54

I'm in!

Msapple what is this frown line tape tape which you speak of? I need it in my life.

Will report back tomorrow with my list

EdithDickie · 07/04/2015 23:15

Oh thank you!!! Grin

Just what I need - the Christmas thread was a brilliant motivator for me.

Will ponder on my list and come back.

MsAppleBlossom · 08/04/2015 12:20

Today's ta-dah's:

Body brushed
moisturised
scrubbed feet with pumice stone
had breakfast

still need to do facial exercises
find aqua flex thingie and use it
take vitamins
drink a litre or two of water

favourite the frown line tape came from an extrapolation of a notion called frownies. No idea how to link, sorry, but if you google them you'll find them. They're like sticky paper things you use to hoik your face muscle up and stick it out of the way overnight so your wrinkle/line stretches back the way it used to be. I think the idea is something along the lines of preventing you from frowning in your sleep and maybe retraining your muscles a bit. I've never actually used them so maybe some one who has will be along shortly to expand on this. Anyway, I can't remember where the idea came from (probably on here somewhere or maybe one of the reviews on amazon?) but I thought I'd try micropore which is a medical sticky tape. I've used it for the last three nights, the first morning I was amazed at the difference, yesterday and today not so much, but then I've been doing lots of stuff in the days that would cause me to develop a frown - concentrating, worky stuff, laser death beam glare at misbehaving children - so maybe if I could maintain a serene expression every day I'd be on to a winner! My sticky tape cost 79p from asda which is a lot better than the £18 for official frownies. I'm also doing Eva Fraser's facial exercises - got the book from amazon second hand for not very much money, so if you're bothered about lines and wrinkles (like I am) but really don't want to engage in the frozen faced fillered appearance that botox and the like give you, maybe give that a whirl too. xx

noddyholder · 08/04/2015 12:27

I use artists tape about £2 and the same as frownies
