Cleanse and Polish - not feeling the love?

IPokeBadgers · 21/03/2015 14:05

I have recently opened a Liz Earle C&P (am on a mission to reduce the toiletries stockpile: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?msgid=53271910#53271910 ) and if I am honest, I really don't get why people rave about this product?

It does what it is supposed to do, but I think I was expecting something a bit, I don't know, more luxurious? more special? I can't imagine I will repurchase when I finish it: I don't see a big difference between this a cheaper hot cloth cleansers.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

I love it, but I have not tried any similar products, so that may be why. It just works.

It doesn't work on DD.

IPokeBadgers · 21/03/2015 15:10

What is it you love about it Almondcakes?

I'm with you I was left totally unimpressed with C & P but I keep thinking I am missing something because everyone else does seem to get great results with it. I am also a bit confused with all this hot cloth cleanser method as I was always told you shouldn't put anything too hot on your face as it can cause broken blood vessels. As I am very fair and fairly sensitive I decided that this method probably wasn't for me. I do love LE products but I haven't repurchased this item.

endoflevelbaddy · 21/03/2015 16:02

My skin is always amazing when I use this, pores closed, no breakouts / redness. Not sure what's in it particulary but it just works.

dexter73 · 21/03/2015 16:04

C+P doesn't work for me. It made my skin a bit sore and red.

almondcakes · 21/03/2015 16:27

I love it because afterwards my face feels clean but not stripped the way other products make it feel. It also reduces my visible pores.

DD has very oily, spotty teenage skin and it does nothing to alleviate that, although other people seem to have found it reduces spots.

Bakeoffcake · 21/03/2015 16:32

I'm the same as you almond- I've tried many cleansers and love the fact Liz Earle stuff takes everything off, including mascara, and my face just feels so 'normal' afterwards. No tightness at all.

I do get the occasional break out on my chin so use something else there every night.

TheMD · 21/03/2015 16:40

I'm firmly in the "meh" camp. Admittedly, C&P didn't cause breakouts or any other issues, I was just underwhelmed with it.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 21/03/2015 16:44

I hate c&p. It is too fragranced for me and breaks me out something chronic. I get on better with clinique take the day off balm.

CadiM · 21/03/2015 20:47

I like a hot cloth cleanser but found no difference in the effects on my skin between C&P and the cheap Superdrug versions.

Bunbaker · 21/03/2015 20:56

I like using hot cloth cleansers and like the Superdrug version as much as the Liz Earle. I don't have sensitive skin so can't see the point in pang more for Liz Earle when something cheaper does the job just as well.

I didn't find LE highly perfumed either. In fact I didn't like the slightly antiseptic smell of it.

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 21/03/2015 20:57

I like C&P and the Superdrug ones. But I don't think C&P is any better. And it's much more expensive.

Kewcumber · 21/03/2015 21:03

I have tried the superdrug stuff and its OK but doesn't suit my skin so well.I a
Ways go back to it when I have the money.

But nothing suits every skin so if it doesn't suit then dont use it and send the rest of the bottle to me

Mochamum - the hot cloth isn't supposed to be so hot it bursts capillaries! Think shower temp hot.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 21/03/2015 21:21

I used to absolutely love it, then something changed, it definitely isn't as creamy as it used to be.

I now adore the new fragranced Elemis hot cloth cleanser -neroli, bergamot and cedarwood, it is divine, and feels soooo luxurious.

I have tried the Superdrug ones but don't like the artificial fragrances and high quantities of mineral oils etc.

BallsToThat · 21/03/2015 21:28

I find Liz Earle products harsh and abrasive.

I like Superdrug Vit E hot cloth cleanser (much gentler), but if I had ££££ to burn I'd be an Eve Lom girl. Cant beat it.

I also dont get on with muslin cloths. They feel awful on my skin. Prefer a soft flannel.

Botanicbaby · 21/03/2015 22:36

I like C&P but agree it feels less creamy than before. Either that or my skin is ageing...I think my skin feels slightly tight afterwards too. I adore the toner.

Love the sound of the Elemis one DrankSangriaInThePark

DrankSangriaInThePark · 22/03/2015 09:31

I can heartily recommend it Botanic!

I had always been meh about the Elemis cleanser before tbh, despite often getting it in QVC TSV sets, but this new fragrance somehow makes all the difference. I can feel a difference on my skin as well. Immediately softer, I am alternating cleansers between a C and P, the Elemis, and a Boots balm cleanser, and the Elemis is definitely the best.

Roonerspism · 22/03/2015 10:51

I don't like LE stuff generally. Too harsh.

I love the Elemis cleansing balm!

Bunbaker · 22/03/2015 10:54

I find the Elemis too greasy. It has a vaseline like consistency. It wipes off OK with a hot cloth, but it works just as well for me as LE or Superdrug.

RipMacWinkle · 22/03/2015 10:59

I love the sound of the Elemis cleanser. I got that free Elemis moisturiser sample with the recent Harpers Bazaar magazine and I'm in love with it. The scent is divine.

Anyway, to the OP, I liked C&P but then got a sample of the REN version and when it ran out I repurchased it. It comes with a proper little flannel rather than the muslin. I use it and find it gentle but effective. Though in £££ terms I think it's v similar to the C&P. I got it on offer through M&S

RitaOrange · 22/03/2015 11:00

There are 2 Elemis ones Bun- the balm one which is a yellow smooth vaseline consistency and the Pro Radiance one which is what Drankis referring to.

Its absolutely gorgeous and lasts ages.

I use both actually - the balm one when my skin is a bit dry.
Lasts ages and my skin has a lovely texture and looks glowy.

Botanicbaby · 22/03/2015 11:23

Ooh sorry to digress thread but I am definitely going to try the Elemis one, thank you for the tips!Smile

DrankSangriaInThePark · 22/03/2015 11:50

I have seen the Elemis on a special offer somewhere this week, possibly feelunique.
