Cleanse and Polish - not feeling the love?

I have recently opened a Liz Earle C&P (am on a mission to reduce the toiletries stockpile: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?msgid=53271910#53271910 ) and if I am honest, I really don't get why people rave about this product?

It does what it is supposed to do, but I think I was expecting something a bit, I don't know, more luxurious? more special? I can't imagine I will repurchase when I finish it: I don't see a big difference between this a cheaper hot cloth cleansers.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

I use the liquid take the day off Ronald the one you shake to mix the 2 layers
Is it similar ?
I always use a separate cleanser though

What skin type is the clinique one good for?

DidoTheDodo · 22/03/2015 16:43

I don't like c&p either. I just didn't think it worked at all well (mascara panda eyes remained) and I hated the texture of the slimy muslin cloths.
I use emulsifying ointment from the chemists and it is fab.

pinkfrocks · 22/03/2015 16:57

I didn't like it- it's thick, pulls your skin when you apply it and has a very odd smell which I think is due to all the 'natural' oils etc.

I much prefer Clinique Cleansing Balm which I've just bought- is really gentle and melts onto your skin. I take it off with a wet hot flannel but you could rinse off too I think.

Big fan of Liz Earle's C&P. Leaves my face clean and feeling soft but not stripped. Did try the Superdrug alternative but it brought my skin out in big red splotches/spots.

Bunbaker · 22/03/2015 20:06

"pulls your skin when you apply it"

It shouldn't do that. Perhaps you had a dodgy batch. I agree with the smell. It has a slightly antiseptic smell that I don't care for.

Which Superdrug one did you use? They do two. I use the Naturally Radiant as I have combination skin. I think the vitamin E version would be too rich for my skin.

haggardoldwitch · 22/03/2015 20:13

I like Clarins Pure Melt for my ageing, dry skin. Used with the LE flannel.
It feels softer than LE.

MyOtherDogIsAPorsche · 22/03/2015 21:36

Bunbaker I tried the Superdrug Vit E - interesting you say it was too rich for your skin, maybe that was what was wrong with it for me.

pinkfrocks · 22/03/2015 22:09

I got a sample and it's just so thick- quite hard to apply and remove.
I also don't like the menthol smell.

Judydreamsofhorses · 22/03/2015 22:48

I love the Clarins Melt, with a hot flannel. Liz Earle broke me out. If I had more money, I'd be faithful to the Emma Hardie cleansing balm, it smells delicious and does a great job, but is reserved for flush periods.

frankietwospots · 22/03/2015 22:53

I use the Superdrug Naturally Radiant one too and really like it (currently on better than half price). I'll be investing in the Emma Hardie one when I have some more cash though.

"I got a sample and it's just so thick- quite hard to apply and remove"

I have had travel sized ones and a full sized one. It isn't that thick. I agree about the smell. It isn't very nice.
