What will your spring jacket be?

I've lived (very happily) all winter in a longer length jack wilfskin padded jacket thing (nicer than I am making it sound!). but it's finally getting too warm for it some days and I don't know what would be sensible to replace it with? last year I had a shorter length gap down jacket, similar to these uniqlo ones, but it was 2nd hand at the time and it's pretty grotty now tbh
so what would take me through the spring, won't break the bank, can cope with scruffy outdoor park type situations with the kids but also look reasonably smart/trendy?
I like these slouchy blazer type things but don't think they are maybe substantial enough?

I'm told (harpers bazaar) that utility jackets are the thing to wear this year. I'm looking for a nice longer length denim jacket but no luck so far.

a utility jacket search on Google brings up a lot of barbor! kind of like a hoodless parka, is that the idea?

Probably too expensive but I splurged and bought this as it would be very nice to go out in Blush www.joules.com/Women/Jackets-Coats/Tayla/Womens-Linen-Blazer/Oat-Chevron?id=S_TAYLA|OATCHEV

I'm just going to use my old jackets - I have a brown Barbour (this model: cdnd.lystit.com/photos/2012/04/13/barbour-black-antique-emily-jacket-product-1-3229314-244959097.jpeg ) and this one (better in the rain than the first one) in black: cdnd.lystit.com/photos/2012/04/30/barbour-turf-valerie-cotton-touch-trench-product-1-3397689-262867106_large_flex.jpeg
I use both when going out with muddy dog, and they are easy to brush or wipe clean, I can wear a scarf and a cardigan/jumper underneath on colder days and especially the last one is acceptable most places.

I've had them for a few years and they are not ready to be replaced yet. I do think trench coats/macs are very nice for spring, especially with a nice scarf. There are usually loads in the shops and online.

For the warmer days, I'll be using this one: cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0105/6222/products/EMBROIDERY_QUILTED_JACKET_2_1024x1024.jpg?v=1406897278

I've got a short navy Barbour and a longer navy waterproof parka from Zara. So thats practical, wear-with-jeans jackets sorted.

But I NEED a qsmarter, longer, more chic 'wear with a dress' type Spring jacket and am totally clueless as to what to get. The proper trench coat style looks awful on me. Will watch with interests...

Missanneshirley · 22/03/2015 21:34

After being outside a lot today I'd say I was premature in worrying about a spring jacket! Brrrrrrr!
trenches with casual gear not really doing it for me either.
The hunt continues !
