Can anyone recommend a daily sunblock for my face

or high spf moisturiser that can be worn under makeup.

I have fairly dry skin if that makes any difference. I have been wearing a BB cream with spf 30 over the winter but really want something with a higher rating for the summer months. I spend a lot of time outside and I'm now old and don't want to be craggy.

I have more combination skin (but it does have some dry patches). I have just started to use Skinceuticals Mineral Radiance UV Defense which is SPF50. Its very slightly tinted. Early days but I like the way it looks on my skin - it is very sheer and I can put make up on over the top without any issues. I have used also used Clinique Sheer City block SPF40 (and like that as well) but I did not find it particularly moisturising (good for me but it may not suit a dry skin).

Soap & Glory "make yourself youthful". SPF 50, very light, absorbs quickly. You can get it in Boots. I have dry skin too and I do need to use a mousturiser first though.

You can get Skinceuticals from Amazon - at very competitive prices. I managed to get some free samples from the Sk:n clinic.

Clinique City Block worked for me

I haven't used the one Iatemyskinnyperson linked to but I always buy sunblock made for the Asian market too. They're really into sunblock and there's so much more choice. Pretty cheap as well.

L'Oreal Revitalift UV Block is my favourite. Works brilliantly as a moisturiser and makeup primer.

I'm in the same boat I've just bought anthelios spf 50 tinted, can't say I'm really into it, it's very watery, too dark for my ivory skin and it caused my olay regenerist serum to bobble off this morning. I'm almost at the end of my serum and already have bought Vichy aqualia, if it makes that bobble too I'm buggered I'll just have to keep the anthelios for when I go abroad and keep looking for an SPF 50 that can go over serum and under makeup happily, if there's such a thing

Anthelios gave my face a very white cast.

I use this every day and it's brilliant. Very very lightweight, more of a lotion than a cream. I never rely on my moisturisers/foundations alone for SPF protection as you would really need to slather it on to get an adequate amount. In the warmest weather i've also been known to top up with this which I also like.

If you're skin is dry, you will definitely need to use moisturiser before the Cane and Austin and let it sink in.

No I don't think so, it's just that the one I like the texture of best comes in 50. If it was factor 30 that would be fine.

I use Piz Buin allergy factor 30 as a moisturiser all year round, it's about £5 for a big bottle and lasts about 6 months.

I think your choice of SPF largely depends on your skin tone and how prone you are to burning naturally. The cloudiness we have in our climate is deceptive, though. Most people find a 30 perfectly adequate. Despite being half Oriental, and having sisters with olive complexions, I have inherited a pale sensitive skin (yay! ) that just feels better with a 50 all year round. And don't forget your neck!!!

if you are outside a lot don't fart around with the City Block nonsense, those are designed for shoppers and lunchers. Check out what the British Association of Dermatologists have to say on the subject.

buy some real suncream and use that.

I burn at the drop of a hat (10 mins in the UK summer will burn me), so wearing a high factor works for me, and though I'm in love with the ease of P20 in f50, it is a bit shiny if my sole concern isn't just sun protection that day

I've been recommended Ultrasun several times. It comes in 50+ for face.

Another City Block fan here. I've been wearing the SPF 40 one for the past 10 years and haven't even got a freckle in the sun! Wonderful stuff!

I love city block too. Mac also do a great version of their prep and prime that is SPF 50.

Wow thanks. I must admit I was worried about using a normal face sunscreen just incase of breakouts. However, after reading some of the application advice it seems you have to reapply regularly for it to stay effective. I might just give the piz buin one a go as it's the one I would use on holiday and its a once a day.

Estée Lauder's daily sunscreen is great - very lightweight below makeup. The Daily Face is also good. Also the clarins one; and there's a good factor 50 daily essential moisturiser from
