I like this but will I look ridiculous?

Topshop white shirt

I am only 5'2, size 10-12, big norks and very, very pale. But I love it. Opinions, please!

I think it's too boxy. What about trying a man's shirt - I think it would be slimmer fitting?

Or something like this?

Floisme · 16/03/2015 07:22

I like it and I'm 5'3. The only thing that would put me off is the colour (I look dreadful in white). I also find just-above-the-knee is far more flattering than thigh length which turns my legs into tree trunks.

FiftyShadesOfSporn · 16/03/2015 08:31

I bought the Uniqlo silk placket shirt which is a similar length and find it very difficult to wear.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 16/03/2015 08:39

I sound very similar to you I'm height, shape and colouring and I look a total shapeless frump in shirts. White is also terrible on me.

I'd bloody love to wear them but they just don't work for me.

improbablesaint · 16/03/2015 08:52

its just a white shirt
I have loads of white shirts

whats with the dilemma

improbablesaint · 16/03/2015 08:55

remus get the Uniqlo ones - way nicer for a short arse and lovely fabric with a bit of stretch in it www.uniqlo.com/uk/store/goods/127661

improbablesaint · 16/03/2015 08:57

no the image on the blog looks SHIT tbh Remus - she looks pregnant

nilbyname · 16/03/2015 09:17

I really like that shirt, but I think it looks like maternity wear due to its length and how it flows out from the bust.

I like the slightly shorter one linked to above.

If your handy with a seeing machine you could shorten it yourself?

AnyFucker · 16/03/2015 09:18

lab coat

KiteKit · 16/03/2015 12:33

I agree that the woman on the blog looks pregnant and I don't like the way she is holding the hem in to her crotch in the pics to minimise the tent like effect.

I am 5ft 9", size 10 on top / 12 on bottom, small breasts and there is no way I would wear that shirt. You need something more fitted!

Floisme · 16/03/2015 13:09

I disagree that the uniqlo one one is better. If you're short then thigh length can be seriously unflattering - I find either above the hip or just above the knee works far better. I think the way you're thinking of wearing the longer one: with a tux style (presumably fitted?) jacket and heels sounds fine.

Twinklestein · 16/03/2015 13:51

I like the Uniqlo one better.

I think the Topshop one would be seriously swamping.

noddyholder · 16/03/2015 15:40

The unipolar ones feel lovely don't suit me too masculine for my shape but bargain

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/03/2015 17:50

The one I tried on was nowhere near as baggy on me as the one that Eve is wearing in her blog. Also, having a jacket of some sort over it helped to negate the lab coat effect somewhat.

Uniqlo no good - we haven't got one here and I really cba with online ordering.

Cos had loads I liked but don't really wear them might be worth a look

Instituteofstudies · 16/03/2015 18:03

Really really recommend the other white topshop one I linked to. It really is flattering on me and I'm around your height and size 12 with big norks. The material is really soft so it doesn't hang off the boobs and make me look 'deep' and the pockets don't make any difference to boob appearance. It's a great length - just touches bottom of bum and works with jeans and leggings. It's the only shirt I have that is comfy under jumpers too and doesn't bunch up or feel stiff, bulky etc.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/03/2015 18:05

Institute - will check out the other TS ones. Yours looks softer and maybe more casual than I was fancying though.

OP posts:
Instituteofstudies · 16/03/2015 18:27

it is casual but still looks smart and I've worn it with navy cigarette trousers and a bit of nice jewellery and it dresses up quite well. I have ended up with 2 the same because I have such a struggle to find flattering shirts anywhere.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/03/2015 19:15

:) Will check it out. Thanks.
