At last! I get to use my thread title.

Over here, my hags.

OP posts:
motherinferior · 03/04/2015 18:47

Ooh, addle, hope it goes well.

I have made a rather nice-smelling mattar paneer.

bigTillyMint · 03/04/2015 19:29

Addle I am intrigued - wonder where you are off to! Have a lovely timeSmile

CointreauVersial · 04/04/2015 00:18

Yay! New crepey!

My neck is unwrinkled, I'll have you know just don't look at my jowls and eye bags

I've had a lovely chillaxed day. I did however carry out a lightning raid on Ikea, as I needed to buy one more section for DD2's room storage. It was heaving but I steamed through the crowds, short-cutted straight to the Warehouse, ignored the not inconsiderable lure of the candles and bag-clips, and will go down in history as the first person ever to leave Ikea with only one item in their trolley. Grin

beachyhead · 04/04/2015 04:10

I would like to report that Mayan, Brian's Malaysian cousin was in full deployment last night, for poor dd2. Probably heat stroke as it was impossible to keep her out of the pool yesterday.... I am very tired, but as I have nothing to do today, that's ok. Smile

Auriga · 04/04/2015 07:52

Oh, Beachy, what a shame, hope DD2 recovers quickly.

Welcome Barbarella. You've already been blessed with a brief distillation of neck-related wisdom, which is also an excellent introduction to the Crepeys Grin

Hope everyone is enjoying a break of some sort by now. Addle, it makes me nervous that you're so nervous about the family do. I wish you all a good time with no dramas Thanks

Perfect day in the Musee d'Orsay yesterday; Bonnard exhibition, visits to old favourites, a few new favourites and excellent coffee Grin Then delicious Italian food in a friendly place a few steps from the hotel, where the waitress gave us a limoncello ("from me") with our bill. Thanks very much for advice MrsS.

Laughed out loud at one of the Bonnards, of a girl eating a cherry tart. A slice of tart is on the plate near the edge of a round table. Peeping over the edge is a black Lab with big, soulful eyes just like DDog.

motherinferior · 04/04/2015 09:38

I am staring at the page unproductively again.

Rosebag · 04/04/2015 11:11

MI is there any way you can apply to yourself for some annual leave? Wink

addle how did it go? Why nervous?

CV do you think it's just they way things are....less wrinkles, more jowls and bags? My jowls are becoming more pronounced and I'm starting to resemble a St Bernard....

Shame for DD beachy and on hols too. How is she feeling now?

auriga trip sounds lovely.

I am feeling decidedly rough after a very late night with wine and codeine cocktail ( the latter for subsequent headache from hell) at family festival celebration. Went well, except for DM shouting at DDad primarily for stuff you'd expect from an 88 year old with dementia. Actually he did rather well although he does tend to repeatedly ask for dessert after his starter.... DSis wasn't in a very good mood either.... I was rather miffed that she had asked me to make the dessert which I did and then arrived to find she's produced a far more sophisticated one than my humble offering Angry

Tonight is down to me, with friends not family. Pommes boulangere are in the oven and about to do the chicken. The soup was done a while ago and is defrosting. Friend is doing the puddings. DH and friends DH are taking the service....BFF and I will be giggling and heckling from the sidelines....we have had a much more comprehensive religious education than either of them although we behave like heathens Grin

bigTillyMint · 04/04/2015 11:17

Glad to hear you are having a good time Auriga.
And you, Beachy, though poor DD2.
I am still shame-faced about the time that DS got REALLY badly sun-burned on his shoulders (huge blisters) when we were in India and the sky was cloudy.

How (and where?!) did it go last night Addle?

I am still feeling crappy with this horrible cold/earache/headache, but we are managing to crack on with DS's room - hope to finish it today.

Well done CV!

Barbarella · 04/04/2015 11:27

Paris sounds fabulous! Are you there without children?

I have a cold, urgh. But spent most of yesterday in bed watching real housewives of Beverly Hills (I know, sorry! Is my fave trash tv) - they are interesting to look at it a not-the-real-world sort of way. I do like Lisa Van DePump. She's 52 and still quite a babe. Yolanda Foster is also interesting, she's 49 I think. But omg what a lot of surgery! Will link in a sec for any crepeys who are interested.

Barbarella · 04/04/2015 11:28

Cointreau, omfg, not even TEA LIGHTS?!!! have a medal! Grin

Barbarella · 04/04/2015 11:29

Lisa

Barbarella · 04/04/2015 11:31

Yolanda

Barbarella · 04/04/2015 11:34

was married to a plastic surgeon

motherinferior · 04/04/2015 13:35

I managed 1,000 words in the end. Fiction rather than paid workGrin. I think this may be the bit where there's a spot of restrained lesbertarian yearning, though how much of That Sort Of Thing was around in 1830s Southampton I don't knowGrin.

lalsy · 04/04/2015 14:34

Place was awash with it MI, I am sure Grin.

addle · 04/04/2015 15:51

dinner went v well thanks for best wishes, though dd who went out clubbing afterwards is v much the worse for wear

her extremely lovely bf talking to us last night apropos his dm said 'but of course she's much younger than you' to DH who blinked but didn't crumble. tis true - she's 42 and his dgm is 64 while DH is 56 but still a bit of a shock. otoh he clears up and is appreciative and a Good Thing (bf, I mean. am a bit tired)

le querce in brockley rise. delicious turbot, fabulous icecreams, etc. wish it wasn't the back of beyond (from us)

not much else on offer in 1830s Southampton I imagine MI?

sorry about the lurgy BTM, hope starting to feel better

have made nigella lemon meringue birthday cake for DD who so far cannot face trying it - is driving me mad, calling to me while I footle around on the internet getting travel insurance etc ...

Auriga · 04/04/2015 17:06

Glad it went well Addle. Sorry you're still ill BTM, we've all had more than our share of ailments recently.

Barbarella, we're with DD who's sweet 16 & great company.

Lovely day at Versailles, signs of spring everywhere.

Hope DD2 getting better Beachy

EmilyAlice · 04/04/2015 17:49

Ooh a Bonnard exhibition. Must pop down to Paris for a day for that. I think the last Bonnard exhibition we saw was in St Tropez about thirty years ago. Grin

CointreauVersial · 04/04/2015 18:00

Real Housewives is my guilty pleasure, Barbarella. Blush

Get better soon, BTM. I'm impressed that you are slaving away at DIY and haven't retired to the sofa with a hot toddy.

I was up late last night listing more stuff on eBay (checking labels minutely before listing this time! ) and heard a strange rustling from the kitchen. It was coming from the paper recycling bin, which I upended, sending a large mouse scuttling across the floor (in comedy Tom & Jerry scarper stylee). Bastard rodents are back. Angry Poison has been deployed again, although I'm thinking we need to whip off the kick boards under the kitchen cabinets and try to work out how they are getting in.

herbaceous · 04/04/2015 18:33

Had holly time at Bristol zoo today. In our South west odyssey. Now zoning out on settee, after a c bad night' sleep due our hosts' cat meowing outside the window all night. Have bought industrial strength ear plugs for tonight.

Highlight of the zoo was a mother gorilla and her son. Young gorilla was scampering around, then came over to mum for a big hug. Her look of love for him was so touching and so human it brought tears to my eyes. Meanwhile we're destroying these amazing creatures' habitat and eating them for meat. I really hate humans sometimes.

OP posts:
Stropperella · 04/04/2015 20:04

Aargh, Herbs, do not mention great apes and habitat destruction and human nastiness. I shall get all weepy. I like Bristol Zoo and it is very little person-friendly, as far as I remember.
Db and family turned up for a visit and db unhelpfully regaled dd with stories about his experience of doing the same A levels as her but at a well known public school in the 1980s. As he came away from the experience with the grades C, D and , I don't think dd should be trying to emulate him, even if he did then go on to get a PhD. Things were different in the olden days...

Stropperella · 04/04/2015 20:05

Interestingly, db's U grade got missed there. Grin

Stropperella · 04/04/2015 20:18

Beachy, just seen your post about dd2 - hope she is feeling better now.
Auriga, I am Envy about both your Paris break and your delightful and accomplished dd. And the Bonnard exhibition. Grin

bigTillyMint · 04/04/2015 20:24

Addle, I have never heard of that place, but the ice-creams look really interesting! Glad it was a success. And good on your DD for going clubbing after - those were the days! The cake sounds yummy tooEnvy

I have been alternating painting with snoozing on the sofa - praying I feel better tomorrow as we are meeting up with friends.

CV we have the same problem ATM - I thought that all holes, etc got filled in and replastered when we had the k8tchen done last summerConfused

hattymattie · 04/04/2015 20:57

Will check in more when hols end.
