Can anyone help with bra fit please

I am going bra shopping today. Until recently I always bought 36B but started to bulge out the sides. I then bought a 36c and the bulge isnt as bad but the cups sit off me a bit at the top.
Can anyone help please as useless at measuring myself

Do you have a tape measure? If so, can you measure your underbust firmly in inches (bra off), then lean forward and measure around your breasts (not firmly)

What type of bra did you buy?
Can you pop the bra on back to front (no, i've not gone nuts I promise) and see how far away from your body you can pull the band?

It sounds like you need a smaller back size.

What do you measure round your ribs, under your breasts?

hidethemirrortoday · 24/02/2015 15:52

Travellin surely not, I would be amazed! I cant find a tape will keep looking

Stastically, about 5/6 inches at a guess?

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 24/02/2015 16:53

It's too big in the band - you should only be able to pull it a couple of inches. I'd say you probably need to go down 1 if not 2 band sizes, and then up in the cup to compensate

hidethemirrortoday · 24/02/2015 17:01

Thanks. So are you still guessing 32E?

StatisticallyChallenged · 24/02/2015 17:06

Given you are currently in a 36C, I'd say it wouldn't be a silly place to start. A 36C is designed for someone who measures 36" underbust, 39" overbust. I'm guessing(!!!!!) that you are probably more like 32/33" underbust - if the overbust is about right that would be in the region of 32E/F

Thanks Staistically I will pick up a tape tomorrow and let you know if thats ok.
Can still go bra shopping at the weekend as dont want to waste more money buying the wrong size again

Travellin may have been almost right?

christinarossetti · 25/02/2015 13:34

Start with either a 30 or 32 band.

E cup is probably the absolute smallest you'd be with those back sizes Grin.

Fab41 · 25/02/2015 13:36

Can I jump in for size advice please? I measured 32 under and 41 over. I cant decide whether my old bras have stretched or I really have changed shape with losing a bit of weight.
Thank you

Thanks, I will give that a try. I was in 32ff, and I have lost almost a stone... Must be from somewhere else then!

hidethemirrortoday · 25/02/2015 14:27

I will go somewhere and try those 2 suggestions I must say I am gobsmacked!!
36b all these years I thought, crazy

Are you very slim Travellin?

OP posts:
hidethemirrortoday · 25/02/2015 14:40

Should it be on the tightest hooks when you buy?

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 25/02/2015 15:41

No buy on the loosest hooks as bras stretch.

I'm a 30 band and definitely not very slim, roughly a 14

hidethemirrortoday · 25/02/2015 15:46

I am amazed I thought 30 and 32 would be for waifs! I am a 10/12

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 25/02/2015 15:54

Totally normal for your size ime. The smallest readily manufactured is a 28 and I'd say we need 26s at least to be readily available too. Dress size doesn't tally directly as body shape makes a big difference but it often gives us an idea if someone is likely to be in the wrong size. ..size 10 in a 36 is almost always wrong!

BossWitch · 25/02/2015 16:16

Go to bravissimo and get them to sort you out. They don't do the tape measure thing, just look at what you're already wearing, pull and poke and prod and hey presto a bra that actually fits! And they stay with you while you try different styles as a different shape bra often needs a different size.

hidethemirrortoday · 26/02/2015 11:41

I think I need to, tried and 32 and 34 last night and could hardly fasten them they were so tight!

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 26/02/2015 11:44

What cup did you try though? If the cup is too small then the back will feel tight. I am a 36 back and am size 18/20. (I am a 36GG)

dementedpixie · 26/02/2015 11:47

Where were you buying them from? different makes are more/less stretchy than others
