My face attachment has a red tinged plastic rectangle but my body attachment just has a rectangular gap, should it have a plastic part in the centre too??

I've re-zapped on a higher setting (2 days ago) and I think it's growing back just the same again. I have fairly fair skin and thick dark underarm hair and used 4 out of the 5 intensities.
Have I wasted £300 on something that doesn't work on me? :(

Pull at the hair that is re growing. Can you still feel pain when you pull? Or are they easily pulled out? The underarm hair will take slightly longer and you'll get patchy regrowth. Just keep at it for a month or 2.

Did any of you try the old boots smooth skin ipl? Sounds like the limes is getting much better reviews and wondered if anyone knows how it compares?

Report

Just given one of the underarm hairs a pull with tweezers and it came out with a good tug and hurt, just like pre-laser. :( I guess I just keep at it and hope.

thinking about buying a compact one via the philips website. i'm a bit tanned with brown hair (head hair has a bit of red in it but body hair is just brown) - anyone with similar colouring had any success?

also, i'm a wax person. due another wax soon but i don't have masses of regrowth yet, more patches. would i need to shave everything, zap, then wait for more regrowth and repeat?

in two minds as i'd hate to start shaving for the ipl not to work. i've waxed my tash for years so i only get fluff there now. chin hairs though.....eugh. not sure i'd feel safe shaving them. would clipping them very short work?

Mine has just died a death and I don't know what to do.

It does work though. I did one and a half legs a couple of years ago and some of my bikini line. Both areas are much better.

SnoringMonkeys · 26/03/2015 10:27

StarPupil are you still under warranty? I'd contact philips and ask them as it should last 5 years at least unless you've used it inappropriately (not saying you have!)

poppy I suppose you could cut them but make sure they're cut right up to the skin as the light will end up just singe-ing the hairs above the skin.

thanks snoring.

just looking at my skin and at the moment, there isn't much colour difference between the tan and my hair so i'm not sure it would work very well on me. (sounds sooo attractive Blush)

To those who have started with this recently, how are you getting on?

I've only done it properly twice - I am just doing lower legs and inner thighs at the moment. I got a bit excited the other day because I pulled on a little hair and it seemed to just come away easily. And perhaps I could convince myself that regrowth has been a little slower. But other than that, no real changes yet. I am doing it once a week.

JenniMoo · 29/03/2015 18:21

Hard to notice any difference here yet, but only done it 2 or 3 times. Hoping it'll just take a few goes to get going, and glad to hear in not the only one!

I'm just starting, tonight. Tested it, last night. Felt hot on 4, but no redness left. I have a couple of thread-veiny patches I'll have to either steer clear of or turn it down, for, though.

I have heard about this wonder machine for the first time today. Already I'm thinking if I can justify paying that much ££ for it with my next pay packet...

Ive just bought this thing of wonder (I'm hoping). I've just zapped my chin, tache, bikini line and under arms.

I've got PCOS so not expecting a miracle but am hoping for a significant reduction.

I bought the Precision Plus for £300 from argos and got a £10 gift voucher. I'm figuring it's the cost of ten bikini waxes.

Boots is doing the Lumea Compact for £150, which is a bargain.

I've been using this for abut a month ( every week) on my lower legs, bikini line, underarms and tache. I can definitely see a massive difference. I used to epilate lower legs and shave everywhere else, if I shaved lower legs got a 5 o'clock shadow! Now I am shaving legs once a week before lasering and there is hardly any re growth a week later. I can see the odd patch where I have missed though. My bikini line is probably the least effective so far but still pleased with results overall! By the way, I do t shave tache, just blast it so not sure if it is just burning the gaur or actually working yet....

I have PCOS and this have been a miracle worker for me. I have a (very attractive Wink) beard and side burns thanks to excess hair. Using this laser has meant that I don't have to take a razor with me everywhere. I used to get so anxious on long haul flights that people would see the regrowth, but using it has meant that I'm still as smooth as a babies bottom once we've landed. I can't recommended it enough.

Hello! I have the Lumea and have been using it for about three months. I didn't realise you HAVE to shave your face - I am in total despair about my hairy chin (I'm assuming this is post-baby hormones but light just be my advancing age). So far my bikini line, lower legs and toes have responded well but my underarms have still got some stubborn patches of hair. Early days though I would say. So - just to triple check - I should shave my face and it will work better? Thank you!

SuzanneSays · 04/04/2015 17:20

Scottish-DONT SHAVE YPUR FACE! Just blast it with the face attachment. You will regret shaving it otherwise. I read loads and loads of blogs, reviews etc and mist if them advised against shaving face. Good luck!

SnoringMonkeys · 04/04/2015 17:33

I think it depends on what kind of facial hair you have. If it's thick I wouldn't recommend just zapping them without shaving because you can ruin the facial attachment. You end up with white burn spots on the orange part which can't be cleaned off properly. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm treating my machine very very nicely. Cleaning it between zaps etc. I can't afford to ruin such an expensive piece of equipment.

Oh thank you both so much for replying. I normally have my face threaded and then could zap after that - would that work? I cannot believe I am having to write these words on mumsnet. Thank you so much for your advice!

Report
SnoringMonkeys · 04/04/2015 22:49

scottish the ipl works by killing the root of the hair. If you thread then there's no root left, and because all hair grows at a different rate you wouldn't be able to tell where to zap and catch the hair roots.

You could trim the hairs with scissors ? Make them really short.

I've been doing my upper lip since December and rarely shave now. I must have shaved about 5 times in total.

i bought the compact and have used it once so far - obviously no results to report yet. has anyone got any tips on how to manoeuvre it to zap the bit of 'tash right under your nose? i can't get it to flash there Blush

Poppy stick your tongue under your top lip to fill it out and it flashes much easier.

I shave top lip and chin before using the lumea and it's fine, no problems at all

Thanks scotswoman . I trimmed rather than shaved but thanks for the tip.

I used mine yesterday for the first time (and on my bikini line today). Today, I tried pulling one of the little short leg stubbles out with a tweezer, thinking it would just come out painlessly, but it came out with the root, painfully, as if I was plucking my eyebrows or epilating. I tried a few in case this was an area I'd missed but they were all like that.

I'm the right skin tones etc... is it all a load of rubbish? Or too soon to tell? I spent A LOT for me!
