I had lovely, wavy, long hair then I wanted it short.
'Stylist' wouldn't do what I wanted because it wouldn't suit me, let's try blah blah instead....

She gave a mixing bowl plonked on top of my head Sad

I went back the very next morning and they fixed it and best they could.
I just feel really old and frumpy and mumsy.....
Please help me?
What the hell should I do?!
Should I colour it?

It's shaved one side and horrible round Bob the other

I think it would great with the other side short too, you have a lovely face.
If not it needs cut into to layertit a bit, and yes to colour.

Cocolepew · 20/02/2015 10:14

I think you would look great with this, though Im a short hair fan, and ,gasp! over 18.

Yeah forgot to say that in my post. You puurrrrty.

housemoverihope · 20/02/2015 10:59

I love it! Wish I could pull off short hair. I don't think it needs colour, I think it needs products and makeup. eye makeup will make the world of difference to the fringe. Whenever I get a new style I always need to adjust my makeup.

MrsGolightly · 20/02/2015 11:08

Google Emma Willis' hair - looks similar. It's actually really nice but needs to be either straight and sleek or messed up as other posters have said, you've got a beautiful face and can definitely 'carry it off'. I would consider having the longer side a bit shorter, I think it would be easier to manage. Don't beat yourself up - you look lovely!

Buttholelane · 20/02/2015 11:30

Thanks everyone!
Product, I will buy something on Monday.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should buy?
It has to be sold in boots as I don't drive and that's my only available shop.
I have hair serum already which I've been using as the back likes to flick up in the morning....
But no putty or anything like that.

I will have to put the picture of the cut I wanted up later when I'm on my phone as for some reason my old iPad won't upload pictures on anything.

Jesus, I hardly said the girl looked like a pig in knickers. I just said grow her bloody hair. Yes, I admit, hardly the most constructive of advice but not really kicking someone when they're down either.

MrsGolightly · 20/02/2015 11:39

Trucking you've just made me laugh so much I thought i'd split my stitches! I think OP will know you didn't mean any offense Grin

Buttholelane · 20/02/2015 11:46

I do yeah, don't worry.

Don't panic OP. You don't look old, frumpy or mumsy.

Personally I'd let it grow just a smidge, particularly the fringe and perhaps chop into it a bit but at least use some wax to define it more for now.
Although face on it's a little bit solid perhaps, I'm not sure I'd bother with any colour until you feel happier with the shape. It really won't take long to grow that tiny bit.
I've gone from very long to short in a drastic cut and I loved it and the freedom it gave me, but you have to feel good with it.
Agree that the look could do with a bit of makeup to go with and then it'll look very striking. You have lovely eyes.

Ignore the fact that Sharleen Spitteri's so much older than you, pic is for illustration of hair Smile

dementedpixie · 20/02/2015 11:50

an asymmetric fringe with it shorter over the eye nearest your parting would open up your face a bit and make the fringe less heavy. I am currently growing out an asymmetrical cut and still have one side shorter than the other - I got my heavy fringe thinned out and tapered so it doesn't hang in my eyes so much.

dementedpixie · 20/02/2015 11:53

I liked my hair short but I have an annoying hairline at the back that just wants to stick out so have to let it grow again Sad

BeezusFafoon · 20/02/2015 11:55

I think texture like this on the long side will look gorgeous OP.

dexter73 · 20/02/2015 11:59

I like the short side but don't like the long side so I would have it all short.

NellysKnickers · 20/02/2015 18:32

Go for a pixie crop. You've got a lovely face, it would really suit you. very jealous as I have a big fat head and could never carry off a short hairdo

LeoandBoosmum · 21/02/2015 15:42

I'd get it the short length all over - whatever way you look a it, you have to grow the shorter side out if you want to grow it long again. I don't like the longer side (just being honest: I never like those styles where one side is short and the other so much longer, just looks dated and a bit wonky to me, like a woman can't make her mind up). I think this kind of cut could work on you (not too long on the longer side):

I agree about colour...your hair is in lovely condition and you have loely skin and beautiful bright eyes, but the one dark colour is blocky and, being a young woman, you need to funk it up a bit :)

LeoandBoosmum · 21/02/2015 15:50

Cocolepew: who is that? I love her hair! Wish I had her elfin features, I'd get it done like that in a shot if it suited me!
Oh, btw, if you want the kind of style I posted a la Michelle Williams, I think you'd have to grow the shorter side slightly (would take weeks though, I should think).
I would, if I were you (can't see shape properly) get your brows shaped and tinted a dark brown (not too dark since you have fair skin) as it would give definition. A slick of eye makeup and a little gloss would look beautiful on you too! You have gorgeous skin!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/02/2015 15:58

dementedpixie That's just how my hair is Shock

OP the long side looks quite "heavy". I like the front and the short side. If you dont like it why not go with more of an asymmetric fringe and actually have it quite short on both sides. My hair is short back and sides and longer on too with an asymmetric fringe. All very choppy. See dementedpixie

Cocolepew · 21/02/2015 16:47

Leo its Gennifer Goodwin.

TeaNotCoffeePlease · 21/02/2015 20:10

Mess it up a bit and wear some large, interesting earrings - you'll look great.

KissyBoo · 21/02/2015 20:39

Pixie it- but a messy one. It's suburban Human League circa 1980s at the mo.

You are pretty and can pull it off.

KissyBoo · 21/02/2015 20:50

here

I think this one would suit.
