Tube mascaras-any good?

bigbuttons · 19/02/2015 16:54

Sorry if this has already been done to death, but I'm thinking of getting a tube mascara like the L'Oreal double extension one. I'm sick of having panda eyes even with waterproof mascaras. I must have very oily lids or something. Has anyone tried them? Are they worth investing in? Are there other makes apart from the L'oreal one?
Thanks Smile

Clinique Lash power is brilliant. (The original, not the new feathering one) I also have very oily lids and actually stopped wearing mascara for years because of getting terrible panda eyes. Haven't tried the L'Oreal or any others as I'm so happy with the Clinique one. x

Didn't know boots no 7 did one! I shall look them both up. Thanks!

Clinique lash power is the holy grail of mascaras! I love it but at £16 it's pricey!

I just bought the l'oreal waterproof lash extension one, only worn it twice but it seemed to stay on well after a full day at work, maybe a ring bit of smudging but normally mascara ALWAYS smudges on me. Using the white and then the black is a bit of a faff though, and seems to make my lashes go a bit clumpy. Oh, and the waterproof one is a huge pain in the arse to get off! I'll see how it goes but I think i'll be going back to clinique.

jalopy · 19/02/2015 19:21

I use the Clinique one. It's fantastic in terms of not smudging but as a mascara, I think it's an underwhelming one. I use it to define my eye lashes but it isn't really effective in terms of length or fullness. Not sure about other tubing mascaras. Having said that, love the fact you can wash it off with water.

Jumblebee · 19/02/2015 19:27

Oh yes, definitely agree with jalopy about the clinique one being underwhelming in terms of length/volume etc. It adds a little length and does what a mascara does but it won't make your lashes LOOK spectacular or like you've got false lashes!

But as it stays put and doesn't budge all day it still gets my holy grail status Smile

I use the No7 one and think it's amazing. I also really enjoy pulling the tubes off when I wash my face, that may just be me though.

itsbetterthanabox · 19/02/2015 19:34

I've used the loreal one and the B. one and now the no7 one.
The loreal one flaked little bits into my eyes, horrible.
The B. one gave the fullest lashes but still smudged occasionally some time.
The no7 is the best. Doesn't smudge at all and lengthens nicely and comes off easily. Tubing mascaras never really thicken. But it's ok as every other mascara smudges on me!

ForSaleChesterDraws · 19/02/2015 19:58

My favourites in order are

  1. L'Oreal double extend beauty tubes- total love, I get plump full long lashes.
  2. Boots No 7 gold one- doesn't make my lashes as full
  3. Superdrug one- meh
  4. Blinc- overpriced crap, lashes looked spiky and it came off in flakes
  5. Clinique lash power- came off in flakes.

I would never go back to regular mascara, its all about tubing.

Thanks so much everyone. I'm really excited to give this a try now. Thanks for the link to the boots one. I was in boots today as well, ah well another trip is on the horizon then! X

I'm a convert.

I've tried the boots one and the cheapo super drug ones. Both so much better than waterproof.

Maybe line Colossal Cat Eyes is brilliant. Does not smudge and gets in the hard to get to outer corners hence the cat eye look but not over done. Suitable for day but you can build it up for an evening look.

alltoomuchrightnow · 20/02/2015 00:27

Clinique Lash Power is the ONLY one to stay put on me. My miracle product. Blinc is terrible on me. I blink a lot, have oily skin and watery eyes. It would just slide off within hours. I was always picking the tubes off my cheeks and lids. and it would get inside my eye and irritate.

alltoomuchrightnow · 20/02/2015 00:29

re getting longer/thicker lashes.. i use a bit of Clinique's Double Fix (clear 'mascara' ) with the Clinique and build up that way.

alltoomuchrightnow · 20/02/2015 00:30

the L'oreal one.. much like the Blinc one on me. started coming off really quickly in little bits

SunshinePanda · 20/02/2015 07:39

Love the Boots one. I tried the Blinc one first but found that it flaked but not used any of the other brands.

Buttholelane · 20/02/2015 07:47

Best mascara I ever used is marks and Spencer's.

GaryBaldy · 20/02/2015 07:51

I've missed the memo, what's tubing mascara? Literally as it sounds?

GobblersKnob · 20/02/2015 07:55

The Clinique one is amazing on me, never ever budges a millimetre, but washes off super easy, love it.

Choccywoccydodah · 20/02/2015 07:55

Gary, so glad you asked that!! Blush
I use the Barry M pink one, love it :) Not sure if that's a 'tube' one!

SunshinePanda · 20/02/2015 07:58

Each lash is coated in a tiny tube, which stays on without smudging. They come off with hot water and cloth. So great if mascara usually smudges for you or for in the pool on holiday. Smile

Choccywoccydodah · 20/02/2015 08:01

Got ya sunshine Wink thanks!

VirginiaTonic · 20/02/2015 08:04

What's 'tube' mascara? Is it different to other mascara?

Choccywoccydodah · 20/02/2015 08:18

See above Virginia :)
