What colour is a versatile, everyday handbag?

Having finally reached the point of not needing a huge changing bag full of nappies, changes of clothes etc, I'm going to get myself a new bag to use for all those everyday occasions. Which colour would you go for, which will go with everything?

I think you can't beat a tan leather handbag.

The AwfulDaughter,

May I ask you to link to the bag if you bought online?

Thanks!

celineybeanie · 19/02/2015 16:31

I would say tan brown, chocolate brown or black. But I really do love tan

Lonelynessie · 19/02/2015 16:34

Mink sounds lovely, I like dark grey or navy too.

MaudeLebowski · 19/02/2015 16:34

Mine is bronze. Sounds awful. Its not. LK Bennett do a lot of styles in the bronze shade, and the colour is proving much more versatile than I was expecting.

statementnecklace · 19/02/2015 16:44

I would say grey. But I do like a grey bag.

AgathaF · 19/02/2015 16:51

TheAwfulDaughter I'd love a link to your bag too please. I have one the colour you describe and it is just so useful, but it's getting a bit past it's best now. I haven't been able to find anything a similar colour to replace it with.

burnishedsilver · 19/02/2015 17:35

I have a mink coloured bag from mint velvet. I love it but I don't think they have any this season.

burnishedsilver · 19/02/2015 17:37

I'm wrong. They have the colour again this season.

Tan/chocolate is a fail safe but grey or navy can work too. Depends on your wardrobe to be honest & your boots etc..

WhyIRayLiotta · 19/02/2015 18:14

I have had a few grey / nude tone bags and they are so versatile. However I am currently using a cobalt blue one that I just love! I smile everytime I see it Grin

For me grey, tan or black. For others they might include brown and navy but they don't work with my wardrobe.

MsMcWoodle · 19/02/2015 20:45

I have a taupe mulberry that is really versatile. Goes with black, tan or chocolate shoes. I thought it was something I wouldnt wear often but it just goes with everything.

Turquoiseblue · 19/02/2015 20:54

I have two deep purple/ Aubergiene colour bags - they always get lots of compliments and tend to go with lots. I find I use them over and over, but in summer I tend to go for maybe a tan or coloured bag.
I like grey/ pale pink (nude) too but think it can Be a little insipid if the style of the bag isn't right.

HolgerDanske · 19/02/2015 20:57

It depends on what you wear. It needs to go well with anything you might decide to wear. For me it's usually black, but is also have tan and charcoal and grey.

Summer I am more likely to use tan as I tend towards the more boho look.

HolgerDanske · 19/02/2015 20:58

I've got the one linked to above from mint velvet on my to-buy list for this summer. Perfect everyday bag IMO.

HolgerDanske · 19/02/2015 21:00

As an aside, I love the pale greys and pinks they've got in their current collection! Sigh. So hard not to shop!

polyhymnia · 19/02/2015 21:14

Tan or taupe.

HolgerDanske · 19/02/2015 21:24

Yes! Taupe is a scrumptious colour for a neutral bag. I've got one which I'm dying to use but haven't quite got the right look to go with it, yet.

Again, so hard not to shop!

ChippyMinton · 19/02/2015 21:35

A bit of a left field choice, but I find red is a good colour. Or chocolate brown. Or black and tan. I loathe plain black leather,so dull.

Fabulassie · 19/02/2015 21:43

I never wear anything brown, so for me it's black. Otherwise, I would go for Blue or purple or something like that, and not worry about matching.

HolgerDanske · 19/02/2015 22:25

I agree on the red, it can work very well.

DelphiniumBlue · 19/02/2015 22:47

Pewter - works well with almost everything( I am a winter, and wear blues/burgundies/silver/black). Pewter works with navy or black basics, and also looks nice with grey. I've also had silver bags which work well in summer.
