Wow it does look like the theme for the night was OTT tacky porn barbie polyester glitter fest! Looking at the rest of it, Madonna looks positively demure and at least she's true to her own style.

I agree age is irrelevant and applaud her for wearing what she likes. But I do like stunning, sophisticated dresses to ogle at awards ceremonies and this is not satisfying my needs! Baftas were much better.

OK not demure, I'm being flippant but what I mean is she has less hanging out than a lot of them.

I will be really disappointed in Madonna if she ever starts down the over-50-less-is-more path.

I do think it's beginning to have an air of desperation to be the one on the front pages - as if she has realised if she doesn't wear something insane to a red carpet awards, she's not important enough any more in the music industry to be on the front page, or even be one of the photo highlights. Where as say, Beyonce could just drag a very plain black dress out of the back of the wardrobe and will still be one of the 'highlights' because of who she is and what she's done recently and that a certain Mr. West seems determined to complain on her behalf if she doesn't win every year

It's also become something of a trap for her, she's now made a bit of a reputation for herself of dressing like an aging burlesque dancer, so every outfit and red carpet turn has to be more eye catching and extreme than the last. She never quite looks comfortable. She is close to being Cilla.

Out of interest, what proportion of female celebrities were wearing ridiculously revealing outfits? (And why do the men never wear revealing stuff?) I'm guessing that it was only the most outrageous that got lots of media coverage. Rita Ora was covered completely for example.

We'll all be dead before we know it and most likely, for a long time. Providing Madonna still enjoys doing what she does, I don't see why she should stop.

Ironically though Madonna could make headlines by wearing something really grown-up and sophisticated. She is beautiful and striking looking, she would look fab in a floor-length dress in a bold colour for example.

Except it is who she is. There are plenty of pictures of her wearing outfits to awards ceremonies that don't involve looking like a burlesque dancer. Some still have a corset type top, some have a leotard with a lace skirt over the top etc but they are all far better than the burlesque outfit.

Obviously she can wear whatever she wants but that doesn't mean people have to agree with her choices.

She wears what she likes, when she likes. Nothing new - people have always disapproved.

I thought she looked dreadful. Tragic. Trying too hard. Also has had major work on her face, jawline in particular.

She does reinvent herself a lot, and normally as one of the early adopter of a trend, whereas the 'skimpy all out' look feels a bit done to death, the few woman in high neck lines looked far cooler and interesting, Madonna was half naked, but most importantly, it didn't look interesting, just a bit attention seeking. That's rather sad. (plus if you're going to have it all out, make sure it fits. She had an odd squished boob thing going on, like it was made by someone who'd not got the right measurements).

Well I'd love to be as tragic as Madonna.
