Leather culottes

So, I find myself strangely drawn to these in my local store but can't decide if my fondness for hides (real or pleather variety) has gone a step too far.
Should I scratch the itch with a pleather sale bargain rather than spending on a potentially passing trend, go for these babies or swerve the culotte trend as a passing fad????

Aimlessly that's the look I was thinking of- saw another lady who carried off the same look well.

Merriboo - I think it might be wise to buy a pleather pair rather than spend lots on leather. They're quite eye catching and if you wore them a couple of times a week (And you'd probably want to if you bought an expensive leather pair) people would notice and think you wore nothing else iykwim.

I have a pair - I look like this in them.

No personally I hate them and have never seen anyone look good in them. I think it will be one of those items people wear and look back and say what the hell was I thinking?!

I think they look nice on the lady in the blog and on Amber. Not something I would wear myself but I do like them.

But I still hate them! I think they look terrible on the blog lady (who otherwise generally looks v chic). The pleats and leather are too bulky.

i really like them and they would suit me! i think you can either carry them off or you can't really.

Culottes are DP, same as the blog lady, shirt is Equipment from last season.

Thanks for kind comments - they'll never be the most flattering item in my wardrobe but they're just a bit of fun really. Keeps me out of a skinnies rut!

I've just bought them! I'm 5'8, size 10, with long legs and a cracking arse (apparently!). And I'm forty-fucking-five. Yup. I'm gonna rock those babies!

They're a bit Pinocchio.
Ok, a lot Pinocchio, but I'm all for wearing what you want, I like Superdry clothes and own a pair of shoes which according to my DD make me look like I am a toddler attending a barn dance.

I hate the leather ones - the seam is just ugly and must give bulk in an awkward place

amber yours are DP? Yeay! I had looked at them before the sale price but wasn't sure about the front pleats. After the earlier link I nipped out and now have a pair. At that bargain price I don't mind if they are a one season wonder. Love the way you have styled them, though will be more of a spring look for me as I'm always cold!!
BTW- miss you blogging- am a lurker on the vogue threads and would love to see blog updates/instagrams of the outfits you mention!!

Thanks everyone for the comments- especially the BCR/nazi which made me chuckle. They are a marmite option which is why I was dithering about the topshop ones but at that price for the DP ones it's a no brainer!
