Rant Alert: WHY IS THERE NO SHAMPOO FOR GREASY HAIR ANYMORE?

Not "oily scalp" not "sensitive scalp" not "unmanageable" just hair that gets greasy after one day! It is doing my head in. I don't like shampoos with lots of chemical crap in them, or fragrances. So I've been using Waitrose baby shampoo for years and rinsing like a bastard, but still after 24 hours I feel like I need to wash my hair again. Uuurghhh.
I'm sure the shampoo exists, but I can't fucking see it. Can anyone help?

I was ranting about this just last week. 1927373 different shampoos if you dye your hair, or if it's dry, or or or. Nowt for us greasy lot.

I feel and share you angst! There are so many for dry/ damaged/ coloured - my hair is none of these! I wash mine everyday - lots of creamy shampoos make it lardy. BUT I do like Pantene ' classic clean' - has a blue label. My hair does shine with it. Sometimes I go retro and get Paul Mitchell Awapuhi or Number 3, which removes build up etc. Lurking to see what anyone else recommends!

Only shampoo that actually keeps my hair clean a little longer, and won't dry out the ends either.

Look for ones that say 'clarifying'.

I know, it's a nightmare. I quite like Swell shampoo and conditioner but it is v expensive. Hairfix pre cleanse stuff is great if you get lots of build up. Hair is SQUEAKY clean after that and was the only thing that managed to cut through my post pregnancy grease ball hormonal mess of a head of hair.

But most mainstream stuff is woeful.

Is it because it's not ok to say you have greasy skin/hair? But for some reason having dry hair doesn't have the same ick factor?

It's just marketing. They think no one wants to identify as having greasy hairy. Oily is same description, just different word. They usually say 'oily/ combination" don't they?

Herbal essences does a clarifying shampoo, which is the best of the high street lot, in that it does help but I still have a greasy fringe problem. However, I have to go to the big boots to get it, as the smaller shops never stock it.

I use this one now and my hair is ok. I wash it every second day and it looks fine on the second day.

Have you also noticed that they have options for the end desired result - so you can have shiny hair or manageable hair or great volume or so on - but never all of them. I'd like to have shiny manageable hair that has good volume but no - I have to choose.

Apparently the 'confusing labels' is one of the reasons head and shoulders brought out a 'for men' bottle - it's a big seller as lots of them go in, look at all the options, go , then see an option 'for men' and relax, pick it up and go that's me'. I suspect the new cough mixture that is out now that sells itself as being suitable for 'all types of cough' will sell really well, even if it doesn't work as well as a targeted cough mixture for a specific type of cough (I have no idea if this is the case or not, I haven't tried it) just because when the pharmacist says 'what sort of cough do you have, is it dry or tickly' you invariably end up saying 'both' or 'like a baby seal' but it doesn't relate very well to the categories that they sell it on. Having a catch all that covers everything - people will be able to buy it in advance to have in their medicine cupboard, without worrying they have the wrong sort, and will hope that it will sort everything out without causing any extra stress.

So, do you think they will ever bring out a shampoo 'for women' that just gives them perfect hair? methinks not...

Also shampoo manufacturers assume your hair is only dry or greasy or coloured etc. What if it's both greasy and coloured?

Klorane Nettle shampoo is for greasy hair. DS uses it daily and loves it!

Cant use Pant-end - too much perfume.
Weirdly, Dr Bronner's 13-in-1 (or whatever it's called) cleaned really well, but also felt like it was stripping my scalp too. Never mind, it makes a good clothes wash

I have greasy hair. I use tresemme 24 hour volume and I wash my hair everyday.

I use the Lush bar "Montelbano" -I used to have to wash my hair daily but with this its fine for every other day and most days could go another at a push :)

Head and shoulders... but I have a big fill fringe and have to wash it every morning in the sink!

I use Aussie Mega shampoo which isn't too rich for my hair, i can't go more than every other day before my hair needs washing, day two I use a spritz of dry shampoo round the front and on top. I find the issue is as much the conditioner as anything too rich makes my hair greasier and gives me spots on my hairline. I like the old style yellow herbal essences conditioner as it leaves my hair tangle free but doesn't seem to aggregate the greasiness. I only put it on the ends though, try to keep it off my scalp.

Another vote for Klorane nettle shampoo. I use this and don't use conditioner, then once a week use Redken clarifying cream and an intensive conditioner. Use KMS fast drying stuff when dry hair too.

My mum loves the Jumpin Juniper (purple) shampoo bar from LUSH for her greasy hair. I like the New shampoo bar for my hair, as it smells cinnamony and makes my fine hair shiny. The bars last for ages too.

The best clarifying shampoo, imho, is Paul Mitchell shampoo two. It cleans my, used to be greasy, hair really well and I can now get away with washing my hair every other day. On the third day it doesn't look greasy just a bit tired and in need of freshening up.

I use Treseme clarifying shampoo. Currently on offer in most places. £2.50 500ml. It's fab.

I don't need, volume, moisturising, split end frizz treatment, coloured hair.

I need it CLEAN and WASHED.
