Still going strong as we head into 2015. Not a chance I can beat the vol 50 intro from the lovely Dry so I won't even try. Lots of newbies have joined the fun, why don't you? Come tell us your sales splurges. All welcome for fun fashion chat.

Flowers I know what you mean.

Karbea · 13/01/2015 14:06

Yes I think so, I would have loved black as I had this vision of the new me being black leather trousers, black blazer etc. but I like a challenge ;)

shopafrolic · 13/01/2015 14:40

I can't pass anything on to you then....... you'll find your way back - don't worry :)

As a dark vibrant autumn though do you not edge into winter? You may be able to break the rules a teeny bit and still wear black? Look on the autumn thread as I think hopefully has just had a shopping spree and she's an autumn too.

Karbea · 13/01/2015 17:00

What do you think of this dress as modelled by Wendy? I don't like it without the belt but thinking it looks nice pulled in. Was thinking I could either wear it with tan boots (nude tights???) or black tights and boots.
I'm meeting a friend for lunch on Friday and thought it would be good to give my new look a test run.

libertychick · 13/01/2015 17:22

Yay karbea. We can build our new autumn wardrobes together!

Funny you say about the lipstick. When I put the scary looking orange toned lippy on I had a total lightbulb moment! It was really the first time I had ever put on lipstick and thought immediately 'that's perfect'.

I have the grand total of one autumn top (the A&W shirt that shop gave me ages ago) but even with just the change in make up and wearing gold jewellery people have been commenting on how 'well' I look.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/01/2015 17:30

It's funny, so many people who have the colour analysis say that about suddenly getting lots of compliments and "have you been away" "looking well" etc. I never had that. Confused

Sometimes I'm not sure why I'm so happy to waffle on about HoC on here really. On Saturday the consultant actually said to me at one point (as I was showing her clothes) "Are you happy being a Spring?" I said yes, in a sort of baffled way, because I thought I'd come to terms with it. No idea what made her say it!

Still feeling unconvinced about being RC, although I'm wearing my Baukjen ruched pencil skirt today and loving it. I just can't seem to get to grips with the femininity of it. What's the point if the clothes I'm "meant" to wear (if she's right) aren't the ones I want to wear?

Sorry for hijack! Karbea I like that dress and that sort of crochet/broderie anglaise stuff is going to be big this S/S I think. Very nice colour, khaki can look so stylish.

Karbea · 13/01/2015 17:33

The lipstick made a huge difference, I've been wearing the reddish colour all afternoon and keep looking at myself in the mirror for the first time ever I feel made up and all I have on is lipstick.

I've put all my 'wrong' clothes in a black bag in the spare room, I've now got very little to wear, it's quite therapeutic/cathartic.

OneLittleLady · 13/01/2015 17:38

Arrived home safe and sound though I wish I was still down south with Dp.

Exam is on for tomorrow so must do some revision again tonight to make sure I am okay with everything. Also have an assignment hand in tomorrow afternoon so must finish off the very last bit of that tomorrow after the exam. Just having a coffee and will then put away my clean clothes and get the dirty stuff in the washer and out on the rack to dry. Had a great time with Dp, just wish it had been for longer even though I know I had to come back today.

Blair remember what I said about steel in velvet! you can do feminine but it doesn't have to be frills and ruffles. Go darkly glamourous, thats what romantic says to me anyway, for you at least. You need to get your romantic bits from luxe fabric, opulent detailing, you can ooze glamour if you choose right. Don't worry about over dressing, I think the romantic CP's are made to be opulent, luxurious, richly detailed and have an almost gothic glam about them. I can really see you like that, just not in pretty pastels and cute ruffles!

libertychick · 13/01/2015 19:02

Glad to hear you are home safe one. Sounds like you had a great time.

Blair I think the style stuff is very, very subjective. The yin/yang thing is very high level and absolutely no personality testing methodology has any proper science behind it. It's all big brush stroke stuff. Humans are infinitely complex. I am not fully sure about the RC myself either. It felt right but I can also identify with the natural type.

One if the things my consultant said was not to wear masculine stuff. I agree that manish blazers and pinstripes and tweed tend not to work on me but no way am I giving up my brogues. It might make more sense over time but the main thing I am taking from it so far is to go with my flowers / hearts / pretty patterns inclination and that it is OK for me not to want to wear trousers very much!

I think you possibly just didn't need the style day. I needed it more than you but even for me some of the stuff covered was a bit obvious. Maybe you should ask her what she meant by the comment she made about being happy as a Spring? Maybe she was wondering how you find locating the types of clothes you like in Spring colours?

QueenCardigan · 13/01/2015 19:19

blair I never had those comments either about looking well. lib it's great that you have. I wonder what she did mean by the spring comment? Is she the same person that did your colours?

Wrt to CP surely it's all about what we look best in. There's no reason why you can't wear what you want but the RC type shapes are probably going to flatter your curves better than mannish shapes iyswim. And although you probably can wear jeans/tee you'll probably look better and not overdressed if you add heels or an element of texture like one says. I don't think RC is overly feminine as in girly as that's more of an ingenue thing and even I wouldn't do all those ruffles/frills/florals etc.

karbea that's a lovely dress. Do you have the same one?
liberty what about the dress you wore to mu? I remember it was blue colours. Was it more winterish?

AmberNectarine · 13/01/2015 19:40

I always get told I look glamourous when I do the full winter DG look. I've been really lucky, I've never had a moments doubt about my season or CP, they both felt totally right from the start.

OneLittleLady · 13/01/2015 19:50

Amber you strike me as very glamourous and textural anyway. all those faux furs etc. it's sort of the look i aim for but I don't tend to actually look polished or finished, i always look sorta rough round the edges!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/01/2015 19:58

I don't doubt my season, which is why it threw me when she asked. I just don't stick to it rigidly. I love shopping, and not buying anything that isn't the correct (really hard to find) shade of navy would just suck all the joy out of it for me. Plus I buy so much online, it's hard to tell colours beforehand. So I think I pulled a few navy things out of my case (and one charcoal, lol) and she was all confused!

Thanks for reassuring me (again!). Lib I think you're right, I didn't need the style day. I don't think I fit in neatly anywhere. Classic is too dull for me, I'm not Dramatic though I like clean lines and statement accessories, and most of the Romantic stuff just doesn't appeal, even the "Romantic Classic" stuff that's all over Pinterest/Polyvore. I think I've defined my style too far to be able to see myself as such a broad type. And unlike say Amber I'm not that open to trying new things within the CP because I like what I like. Maybe I should? Confused

Karbea · 13/01/2015 20:35

Evening all! I'm back from yoga day2!
blair the colours are based on science at some levels whereas the style is definitely more subjective. I think ultimately regardless on what the process says you will only look good in what you are confident in. If I were you I'd wear what I want but have what she said I the back of your mind and maybe try things on that she suggested from time to time. In away I think it's similar to buying a wedding dress, for me, I had an idea what style I wanted and in that style of dress I looked great, but the shop assistant suggested another style is thought oh what the hell, tried it and it looked amazing... Does that make sense at all :/
Re the khaki dress, no I don't own it but I think I'm going to order it, that and a khaki silk (no real silk) shirt from asos both cheapies so I won't be heartbroken if they aren't my "style" but will help me play with khaki one of my colours.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/01/2015 20:40

That's what happened with my wedding dress Karbea, the assistant (who was actually one of the seamstresses) picked it for me. And I have to say I think it's very RC :)

It's this one.

Karbea · 13/01/2015 20:43

That is absolutely stunning!

QueenCardigan · 13/01/2015 21:02

I've just read my post back and not sure it really makes any sense Confused. What I was trying to say is wear what you like but bear in mind that the femininity of textures/ruching etc will enhance your curves and make you look fabulous ie your zarita dress and your wedding dress. You have a strong sense of your own style and as others have said you probably didn't need the day as much as some of us Smile

amber you did indeed look glam and gorgeous when I met you.

shopafrolic · 13/01/2015 21:10

There's been a terrible accident my hometown today. An old school friend's father has died. It has put things into perspective so I'll be back soon.
Blair you will look absolutely beautiful x

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/01/2015 21:11

Oh god I'm so sorry Shop that was an unfortunate cross post. Really really sorry to hear it, that is awful. Take care Flowers x

WhattoWearNow · 13/01/2015 21:17

Hi everyone - Happy New Years all, Happy Birthdays One & Sleep & Congratulations on your colours Blair & Liberty - lots going on here as usual!!
Nothing much to report except I have been spending a lot of time in my second home - TKMaxx. It's flipping addictive.... They have Rag & Bone Newbury boots for £99 - not my size obviously (sob). Did find a Ralph Lauren Mac though for £119. That is the sum total of my sales shopping. Just not feeling the love at the moment tbh - it will pass I am sure.
I did see some lovely OTK boots in TKMaxx (think Shop was looking)
here
here
And here
There are also some Rag & Bone Brannon Boots online at TKMaxx in tan & black
here
Am trying a dry January too but failing. I find Jan such a difficult month. So am doing 222 instead & want to keep it up. Basically it is no more than 2 drinks on 2 consecutive nights with a break of at least two consecutive days. Wondering if two half pints of prosecco are ok on a night out under this regime.......

WhattoWearNow · 13/01/2015 21:18

So sorry Shop to hear that. Crossed posts. Lots of hard times at the moment.

Karbea · 13/01/2015 21:19

shop that's dreadful.

libertychick · 13/01/2015 21:20

That's horrible Shop your poor friend Flowers

What do you all think of this skirt?. I tried it today. Very flattering. It looks teal in that photo but it's more navy - Blair like you I am not going to get hugely hung up on finding the exact right shade of navy especially for clothes that are not near my face.

I bought this Hobbs top in teal today and this belt.

I returned the dress to TKMaxx, couldn't find it in a bigger size to try.
