Wide calf fitting knee high boots!

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 01/01/2015 23:09

Can anyone help? I desperately want a pair of dark brown or black knee high riding style boots but struggling due to needing wide fitting cause of chunky calfs.. Blush
I tried Evans but even they were tight and only other option was the ones with the big panel of elastic at the back/sides Confused

Am I destined to be wearing ankle boots?

Duo boots were good when i had a pair a few years ago.

Leedscatgirl · 01/01/2015 23:11

Try simply be

SomethingAboutNothing · 01/01/2015 23:12

Yes I recently got a pair of boots from duo, love them! Pricy but worth it.

FanSpamTastic · 01/01/2015 23:13

You need duo boots here. Expensive but fab-u-lous.

olaflikeswarmhugs · 01/01/2015 23:15

Definitely Simply Be

BeHoHoHove · 01/01/2015 23:15

How wide do you need? Duo are £££ but have a big range of fittings.

Amazon have quite a lot as well.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 01/01/2015 23:16

Thanks! Looked at duo but really far more than I would want to pay, especially just now. I'll check simplybe!

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 01/01/2015 23:17

I don't know how wide exactly, I wear a size 16/18 on bottom so. It's not my feet that are wide, just my calfs!

Duo outlet have some good bargains. You'll need to know your measurement round the widest part of the calf to find what they have in your size.

I like these! So do I just measure round my leg then to find best fit? I've never ordered from simplybe, are they decent enough quality?

I have a few pairs from simply be, I live in them during the winter at work! They fit well if you measure your calf first, also remember to order the correct foot width too.

Only1scoop · 01/01/2015 23:30

I have 2 pairs of wide leg Gabor riding boots they are lovely quality

oneowlgirl · 02/01/2015 00:12

Thanks for this thread - I've just ordered a pair from Duo, so fingers crossed they fit nicely as this is always a real struggle for me!

TheHappinessTrap · 02/01/2015 11:12

I bought two pairs from duo three years back - I have to say I didn't think much of the quality. The heel of one pair and the rubber bottom of the other both degraded quickly, I'm talking within the one season. The rubber bottom pair was a flat boot and the leather kind of slid down so it no longer looked like a knee boot. The other pair grew loose. I'm glad to hear others have got on well with them but I just felt I needed to add that.

nottheOP · 02/01/2015 11:13

Gabor are generous

oneowlgirl · 02/01/2015 19:12

Oh no Happiness - hopefully the pair I've ordered will last as they're expensive so will need more than 1 season out of them!

MaelstromOfLunacy · 02/01/2015 19:20

I have some nice ones from Dorothy Perkins

Oneowlgirl - I could have simply been unlucky - fingers crossed for you! I must say I found the pair with the rubber bottom (I really need to learn shoe terminology!) really comfortable to walk in while it was in good condition. I just posted because whenever the big calf thread ops up there are always rave reviews of Duo and I won't be going back to them.

Having said that, it could be me. I followed advice from others about Clarks and ordered 4 pairs that people said were great for wider calves - 3 are going back and I'm sitting here waiting for the 4th to arrive with fingers crossed. I think the quality is better than Duo - but if it doesn't fit then the quality doesn't matter!

Methe · 03/01/2015 17:46

I've got a pair from asda that have elastic in the back. They're not the worlds most elegant bots but they couldn't be any more comfortable, they were only £40 and I live in them :) from the front they look like any other boot.

Bluecarrot · 03/01/2015 17:47

I got some boots in m&s. I had initially not looked there as I was being a bit of a snob, but my goodness they are comfy and are wearing well. They aren't labelled as wide calf exactly. Something like variable fit maybe?

oneowlgirl · 03/01/2015 20:58

Thanks Happiness - they're due to arrive on Wed so we'll see. I have some old ones that I bought from Evans about 5 years ago - they're very comfortable but now terribly worn & I also hate the extra elastic bit at the back which makes then wide fitting!

adiposegirl · 03/01/2015 21:01

Jessica Simpson boot range. I have to wear leg warmers with mine but got then cause I loved the style

travailtotravel · 03/01/2015 23:45

I have a pair of duo boots I have been wearing for 8 years with one good resole\reheel twice. They are expensive to start with but they really do pay for themselves abs are smart and comfy. If there is anyway to stretch to buying them you won't regret it ....
