beautiful bedlinen recommendations?

Have been given some money to buy some new duvet covers/sheets, and it'd be nice to get something really lovely, that will last.

Any recommendations? Have always had plain white, but am considering branching out (and getting, for the first time ever, more than 2 sets!)

These three are all lovely and am going to keep. The teasles set is a good quality but a bit much IYSWIM.

We are moving too, word! Though not for another year. I want all new linens, towels, furniture etc as the ones here are knackered. I'm slowly building up stores, like a squirrel storing nuts for winter. Your link looks lovely!

wow, what a lot of ideas! thank you! sounds like you all buy linen much more often than me - it's been YEARS since I bought anything but a pillowcase (which is perhaps why so many things have all torn at once - another big flat sheet today...)
Will go and have a dig around.

Another question - is there anything anyone strongly DOES NOT recommend (both in terms of shops, and material/colour/fastenings etc.)?

Cardoon it came today.
All the linen's gone straight in the machine, there was a residual smell like some kind of petroleum, gone now.
It's going to take a bit of drying because when wet the duvet cover is too heavy for my dryer. It's extremely heavy and has a very deep inside lip/envelope flap which made folding tricky. It fastens with ties. My arms really ached by the time we got it half sorted.

It doesn't seem scratchy at all, although of course, obviously, linen is what it is. Seems soft to me and will obviously soften more after a few washes.

Can report back after sleeping on it.

I'm going to throw this out, then disappear but ikea bedding is the best I have ever had.

I have three sets of piu belle that have been used and used for the last 5 !! Years and are still going strong. They are white and have held their colour perfectly.
I also have a beautiful set of frette sheets and duvet that I love.
Have a bit of Sheridan but find although it s more 'fashion' it hasn't held up as well.

I have high thread count white from TK Maxx ...amazing amazing deals to be had and crumpled linen from H&m...looks fab

Thanks Enrique, the 600tc duvet cover has the same construction - I quite like the big flap/envelope and the ties work pretty well without coming undone. Mine is heavy but yours sounds much, much heavier

Cardoon it's super king size so a big beast, but when wet far heavier than the other two covers I have. Am currently drying the pillow cases flat on the range lid which is a big oblong lid. Looking really good.
I've had tie fastenings before and like them better than buttons. DH is a bit cack handed for getting things straight when folding though

On the subject of Ikea bedding, am I wrong or do you have to have Ikea sized quilts and pillows to suit?

I think ikea mattresses and beds work together, the bed is the wrong size for a normal mattress. I have a duvet from somewhere else (debenhams maybe) and the bedding is fine. I was skeptical tbh, but it's brilliant.

Slept under the linen duvet cover with matching pillow cases. Not scratchy. Not as soft as Egyptian cottons, but seems like it will soften more with washes, which is what they say on line.

It is though, as I said, exceptionally heavy especially when wet, which might be something to consider regarding drum size of washing machine and drying facilities.

Well, if anyone is interested (!) I bought 3 lots of stuff from the Secret Linen Store. Arrived amazingly quickly, all looking lovely - beautifully packaged. 2 lots are great (white cotton cord - very plain, but soft silky fabric; and the grey teasels set, which I think is better in the hand than on the screen - it catches the light v nicely). Other set (stripy) not so good.
Also bought super-large pillows from Soak and Sleep, and John Lewis. S&S and JL much slower to deliver, JL slowest of all.
It's lovely finally having sheets we don't stick our toes through (old ones ridiculously rotten...)
