funeral clothes

I have nothing I can wear. I can't wear trousers so it needs to be a skirt. Im size 22 and nothing looks ok on me. Just wish this wasn't something i was having to deal with right now

I am assuming that you have lost someone close to you? If so I am sorry for your loss. My limited experience of funerals is that no one will look at what you are wearing, so maybe be comfortable? Funerals are hard enough

Something simple and comfy and warm.
Nice big black wrap over the top. Sparkly brooch clip which she would have liked.

That's what I'm wearing next week for MIL's funeral. Churches and cemeteries are cold in January.

Its my Grandma. My family are very religious. Comfy isn't an option as I need to wear a skirt. I have no coat that would do (i live in fleeces) i need to buy everything. I have my comfy leather uggs which I will be wearing since I know the grave side part will last over an hour and I need my feet to be warm.

What about a black jersey tube skirt like this? Comfy warm and smart and will look ok with your boots. Maybe a simple black tunic on top.

Oh thats quite see through..so no!!! Didnt see that in the picture..sorry. A plain black top would be fine though.

I'm very sorry for your loss. And it's so horribly stressful to have to sort out special funeral clothes on top of grieving.

Where are you based? I bet that if you were able to get into a big M&S, you could blitz it in an hour or so.

You could go for a really simple skirt and top combo.

This M&S dress looks warm and smart, with a slight texture so it should be flattering.

It doesn't have to be black, just plain and smart and dark. Charcoal grey, navy or dark brown woudl be fine too . As others have said, no one will notice your clothes , you don't need to be stylish just warm and appropriate .

Don't buy a coat, ask around all your friends for one you could borrow .

Do you have warm boots ? You might need thermal socks on top of your tights.

You will need a hat , scarf and gloves for the graveside. Although I'd be very suprised if it lasts an hour in January . Usually it's just a quick hymn and prayer /reading at this time of year . What religion was your grandmother ?

She was christian brethren. It could easy go over an hour at the graveside. I was planning on buying a coat anyway so I don't really mind. Hat is must anyway for the service in the hall. I like the dress, not sure how it will look but I've ordered it. The coat rain suggested is lovely but not available online for 2-4 weeks. The funeral is on the 6th jan.

It's great, can be worn with anything and would be ideal for a winter funeral.

I would also go for a thick/woollen dress with thick tights/leggings, maybe with a patterned scarf for extra warmth (if you can get away with it).

ok the dress has arrived and looks ok now i just need to find nice coat. I want to be able to wear it often, it needs to be warm, smart and black. Finding a nice coat in a size 22 is not easy :(

loads of plces do size 22 nowi am a size 22 and ithere are lots of places.

if you want a coat that will be good for every day life, what sort do you want? waterproof? wool? what?

It says its no longer available. This is the problem I'm having. I can fine coats i like but they are never in stock in my size.
